[NEPitp] New Era of Planets ITP IC.

[Beans]

The year is 2018 A.D., 17 years after the Nefas Adventum. N.A. was the incident that changed the planet forever.
Officially, not much is known. To the public, it is told that a tiny meteorite (10 cm in diameter) hit Antarctica at 95% of lightspeed. Its low mass and insane speed prevented its detection until it had already hit us, they say.
That is why weather conditions are screwed up. That is why Antarctica is little more than a bowl filled with a lifeless red sea in which chunks of rock float.
As if that were not enough, chaos and infighting enveloped humanity when it should have banded together. By the time of the Patrician Treaty, signed March 17th '02, the planetary population was halved.
But for several years now, an organization has been searching. For in the ruins of the NA, something otherworldly was found. It was analyzed and contained and restrained and copied. And the copies were made into protectors of the Earth, meant to prevent NA2.
The searching? It is for... pilots.

But how could something protect us from a second near-lightspeed micro-asteroid?
... Or is that what really caused the first Nefas Adventum?

PLANETS
The planet designations are a guide for the qualities compatible with the corresponding planetial. Essentially, for a character to pilot a planetial, he or she needs qualities that can be applied to those of a planetary body. The required qualities can be hidden or overshadowed as long as they exist.
Note that in no way do I expect every planet to be taken.

The Lights
Sun: Leadership, authority. Its metal is gold. Its element is aether. Number designation 00.

Moon: Empathy, adaption. Its metal is silver. Its element is aether. Number designation 03.5.


The Truths
Mercury: Swiftness, skill in speech, dexterity. Its metal is quicksilver (contained in glass). Its element is water. Number designation 01.

Venus: Charm, persuasion, and skill in settling conflicts. Its metal is copper. Its element is air. Number designation 02.

Earth: Caring, sympathetic spirit. It does not have a true planetary metal, but its Pilot Designation Key is of lapis lazuli. Number designation 03.

Mars: Determination, strength, and skill in strategy. Its metal is iron. Its element is fire. Number designation 04.

Jupiter: Protectiveness and good judgment. Its metal is tin. Its element is fire. Number designation 05.

Saturn: Insight, inner endurance, and discipline. Its metal is lead (contained in glass). Its element is earth. Number designation 06.


The Shades
Uranus: Creativity, unconventional thinking. Its metal is uranium (contained in anti-rad glass). Its element is air. Number designation 07.

Neptune: Deception, trickery. Its metal is neptunium (contained in anti-rad glass). Its element is water. Number designation 08.

Pluto: Revolutionary spirit, cooperation. Its metal is plutonium (contained in anti-rad glass). Its element is earth. Number designation 09.

PLANETIALS
All Planetials are armorsuit mecha devices around 20 feet tall. A vague approximation of their general shape: http://axuslords.webs.com/mech3lf.jpg
Note that the cape and ax and etc are NOT part of the Planetial design.
Every Planetial unit has a Progressive Blade, a weapon that vibrates at hypersonic speed.

NOTE ALSO that I can edit these to a degree if people ask. These descriptions are not totally set in stone.

Unit 00: Tan and flat gold in color. Its Astrokinetic Energy TeraHerz Emission Radiator (AETHER) system allows it to expel built up energy through physical contact. However, this energy must be built up by physical activity and its use can tire the human pilot. Its AETHER system is mostly within its large-ish round shoulderguards. Its Progressive Blade is oddly similar to an arrow in design, with a long and slim handle connected to a smallish blade.

Unit 03.5: Pale and silvery in color. It is slimmer than 00, with more crescent-like guards. Its AETHER system is a different type than that of 00; it manifests as a sort of short-ranged "pull" or "push" that can repel or attract the target to a reasonable degree. Its Prog Blade is similar to 00's.

Unit 01: An odd, darkish silver and grey color set. It is below average in size, but is also the fastest. Its Hydro designation is owed to its flexibility and good balance. Its Prog Blade has a longish thin handle; the blade part extends from the tip of the handle in the form of two winglike blades that make this weapon resemble a caduceus.

Unit 02: A red-orangey color set. It is ideal for drawing enemy fire off other units, due to its Aer designation---it has high agility and can turn on a dime. Its Prog Blade is similar to a stiletto.

Unit 03: Average in size, this unit is green with blue patches. It carries a Solenoid Oscillator UnduLative drive (SOUL drive) that allows it to apply bursts of positive energy to itself or other Planetials. Its reconstructive powers work better on others, though. Its Prog Blade is broad and spade-shaped.

Unit 04: A dull red and grey color set. It is somewhat bulkier than the average unit. Its Pyro designation is due to its propensity for quick bursts of energetic activity; however, this can tire the pilot. Its Prog Blade is like a bowie knife, and the arm of the opposite hand contains a small fold-out shield.

Unit 05: A pale yellow and white color set. It is physically larger than average. Its Pyro designation is due to its energy-burst ability, but unlike 04's method of channeling this energy into physical activity, 05 is more defensive: its energy is encorporated into a temporary energy field that can protect it from harm for a short period. This makes it well-suited for protecting other units so they may fall back and regroup. Its Prog Blade is jagged-edged.

Unit 06: A dull dark grey and bluish-white color set. Its legs are more heavily armored than the average unit. Its Terra designation relates to the pseudogravity generators it contains, which allow it stability and balance to the extreme---it can resist being toppled by a very forceful blow, though it may be pushed back. This also allows it to add kinetic force to its attacks, though that can tire the pilot and leave the unit vulnerable if the attack misses. Its Prog Blade is gently curved like a scythe blade.

Unit 07: Mid-grey with hints of electric blue. Its legs contain additional shock absorbers that can be reversed to enhance its jumps. It is designated Aer, and has the capability of making quick darting movements in any direction due to pulsejet arrays. However, it is vulnerable just after these dashes. Its Prog Blade is like a trench knife with a knuckleduster hilt.

Unit 08: Teal with hints of silvery white. It is extremely flexible, to almost contortionist-like degrees; however, using such capabilities can tire the pilot. The unit's almost liquid flexibility makes it good in deceptive tactics, as it can be unpredictable. Its Prog Blade is like a fish knife, long and thin and serrated.

Unit 09: Dark purple with hints of grey. Its Terra designation stems from its pseudogravity projectors, which work like 06's. However, it can use such a great output that something can briefly go into pseudo-orbit around it---and if it deactivates its pseudogravity while the object orbits, that object can be flung by its own momentum. However, this uses much energy and tires the pilot. It is ideal for messing up an enemy battle plan with its Orbit Toss tactic. Its Prog Blade has two parallel stiletto-like blades.

The island nation of Fenisle. That's pronounced Fenn-I'll, by the way.
Or, rather, about half of it.
The rest is under water.

Nefas Adventum (N.A.) caused both mass flooding and climate change, and Fenisle was not left unscathed. Mass flooding has left many former cities under water; in some places, the tops of buildings rise grimly from the encroaching ocean.
It wouldn't be so bad if it weren't always cold here. Forever between winter and autumn, Fenisle is lucky to still be around.
It's very lucky to contain the base of DREV, the organization devoted to preventing another N.A. event.
It's also very unlucky, in a way, to contain the base of DREV.

A plane lands in a city that is already on alert. Its occupants are rushed to a car.

One of them is a sixteen-year-old girl with long black hair.

((Basically, this is the bit where the pilots are all being acquired and stuff.))

sonja is in a bullet train arriving at the organisation. clad in her normal clothes she paces up and down, unable to sit still.

Another of the passengers is a fifteen year old girl also with black hair.
She is looking at the clouds drifting by as she is being lead to the car.

Her mind drifts along with the clouds, going wherever the wind of fate leads them.

The girls are each accompanied by a DREV agent in a black suit; the men are silent and stoic.

Another girl, clad in her heavier clothes, with blond hair, is walking up the docks, wheeling a massive suitcase behind her, to the waiting DREV agents and car. The submarine that had delivered her slips back below the waves, and despite the tension of the alert she smiles, glad to be in open air again for even a few moments.

Standing around. It can provide so much opportunity to make conversation. However, it seems that the people around him have shuffled away from him, the only people around being those dreadfully boring DREV agents. I mean, all they do is stand around and say stuff like "I am not permitted to speak on that subject" and "You're on a need-know-basis" and such irritatingly similar phrases. All he wanted to do was ask whether or not there's a nice restaurant! How hard can it be to answer that?

But, no sense being all pouty about it. Might as well keep on smiling. And playing with his blonde with white highlights hair, but mostly smiling. Good thing he's wearing this turtleneck and jacket. From what he's seen of the surroundings, it's going to be a bit chilly.

One agent gets out to put her luggage in the car.

There's another girl in the back seat of the car, not looking at the girl who came from the sub. Long dark hair and a black duffle coat are all that's really visible of her, as she's seen from the back.

the girl looks around at her agent, the only other person there "...is this DERV?"

[Beans]

"You will know when we arrive. Do not ask questions."

A few yards away, the other passenger's DREV agent hopes his charge will not ask the same question.

Ah, Fenisle. Nice, place, despite what people'll tell you. At least, that's what Lev thought.

Or at least, what he would've thought, if he wasn't sleeping soundly, his head perched on the person besides him's shoulder/on the person's shoulders.

[Quinsar]

A boy with long black hair is... Arriving. By plane probably. He looks less than excited to be here, and, if he's being escorted, is watching his escorts.

[Beans]

Lev's agent ignores the boy's head on his shoulder. The man could outstare a freakin' statue!

"We will wait for #3 to join us before we depart."

"I'll get the luggage myself. It's fragile." Grace will do her best to put the luggage away without the agent interfering, and sit in the back seat by the other girl.
"Good morning. Are you Allie, or Elina?"

[Quinsar]

Sure. So where are we headed exactly?

Ah, finally, progress! The boy arrives at a station. Yet another station in many it seems. Airplanes, metros, car rides, it's a wonder he doesn't get sick! Maybe it's that smile that never leaves him ever. Of course, it means another boring DREV agent to escort him to where ever it is that they're going.

The boy was right, it was chilly. What was even chillier was the reception he got from his new escort as he stepped into the back of the car. Not a "how do you do", not a "I hope you enjoy the trip", not even an almost instinctive "hello"! Are these agents even human?!

After a while, the boy inclines towards his new escort, ever-persistent smile, well, persisting. "It looks like we aren't anywhere near our location, I suppse." He almost makes it sound like a question. Of course, the agents made it very clear that they don't like questions, so he just made a statement. Hopefully they'll respond to that differently.

Blond-boy's agent doesn't blink.
Well, you can't tell behind the sunglasses.
"We will get there."

Veran nods and sits back with smile.

Blond girl shakes her head.

And then puts a jacket over Dark-hair girl like a blanket.

Ah, of course he'd react that way. How else, really? At this point, might as well enjoy the scenery. So, blonde-boy turns to the window and looks out at the place, occasionally snickering at something that passes by in an instant, along with the snicker.

Once inside she shakes some snow* of her hair and turn to the blond kid

"I'm Rina..."

She sits there happily for a second until she seems to remember that something is missing.

"What's yours?"

She asks happily.

*If it's snowing, if not then she doesn't.

JOY OF JOYS THERE IS A GOD!!! When the new arrivals show up, and step into the car, the very androgynous boy practically beams with joy for a fraction of a second. The beams could almost blind a person, they're so intense.

The androgynous boy has medium length blonde hair with white highlights. He looks extremely skinny, not in an unhealthy way: it's just his frame that's thin. His legs are crossed, and he smiles to whoever is there.

Elina is looking out the window, absentmindedly scribbling on her drawing pad.
The picture forming on it seems to be a bunch of train windows each showing a different landscape.
Bored, She looks over to the others on the train.
"The Elina greets you."

Veran smiles at Lev.
Hey. I'm Veran. Who are you?
He offers his hand to shake.

Elina's agent ushers her toward the black van containing Lev and Veran.

Once she is in, the vehicles (car, sedan, van) set off.

After he's done with his almost blinding beam of pure joy at the chance to slay the evil boredom, the boy smiles at Rina. "Hello Rina. I'm very glad to meet you. However..." He looks at the other occupants of the sedan slyly, overall looking rather cheeky. "I would like everyone else's names before giving out my own to strangers." He lowers his voice to a whisper. "You never now who to trust these days."

Lev doesn't really notice Veran because he is sleeping.

But then he wakes up.

The small boy stretches a bit. "Huh? Oh. My name's Lev. Nice ta meetcha! What's your name?" he asks, smiling.

He dangles his legs around. "So are we there yet?" he asks excitedly.

Elina just flips to a new page and starts drawing the landscape the car passes by. She looks at Lev and Veran
"The Elina greets you again."

My name's Veran. and no, we just left in the cars.
It's nice to meet you.
He smiles a bit. He looks at Elina.

"We are getting there." Veran/Lev/Elina's agent says flatly.

The cars all go into a tunnel and enter a sort of... like... it's an escalator for cars.

"Hello!" he says to Elina. The boy looks like he's about ten, or something.

"Hmm. Okay," he replies. He wasn't satisfied with the answer, but he expected he wasn't going to get an answer that made sense anytime soon.

The cars stop.

There is utter blackness.

[Lord Raziere]

"The Elina is suspicous of this."

[Recaiden]

Grace is dismissive of this. Like darkness is going to intimidate her.

she shrugs "I'm Sonja..."

Soon, the boy offers a hand to shake, and when taken, shakes heartily. "I'm John. Pleased to meet both of you, Sonja and Rina." He turns and gives a smile to Rina. Also, John has a slight British accent. Not distracting at all, but rather it gives a character to his voice.

Then the lights turn off. John looks around, curious. "Who thought of the bright idea to turn off the lights? Pun not intended."

Soon, the boy offers a hand to shake, and when taken, shakes heartily. "I'm John. Pleased to meet both of you, Sonja and Rina." He turns and gives a smile to Rina. Also, John has a slight British accent. Not distracting at all, but rather it gives a character to his voice.

Then the lights turn off. John looks around, curious. "Who thought of the bright idea to turn off the lights? Pun not intended."

sonja frowns "...this is...not good?"

Veran pulls out hi lighter and tries to light the place up a bit.

John blinks a couple of times. "Well, I wouldn't go so far as to say that, but given the recent events I would say that we might not like what's going to ha-" If you're going to tranq us, do it now. :smalltongue:

[Beans]

As if on cue, bright lights turn on.

The cars are side-by side in a concrete parking garage.
The agents all get out.
"Come with us."

Allie grumbles awake.

Sonja forwns, and gets out

[Recaiden]

Grace climbs out of the car and waits by Allie's door.

[Lord Raziere]

Elina gets out
'The Elina urges the agents not to do that again. If it is done again, the Elina promises there will be consequences."

At the instant the bright lights come on, John winces, the light being searing for an instant as his eyes adjust to the sudden lack of complete darkness. Soon, he hops (literally) out of the sedan, looking around, trying to see what he can see. The androgynous young man sticks his hands in his jean pockets as he does so.

[Beans]

"DREV will see about that."

The agents stand by a door, which slides open.

Allie gets out, rubbing her eyes.

"DREV will see about that."

sonja walks towards it, ready to run if she has to

Veran steps out frowning. He squints his eyes and heads towards the door.

As he sees the people get out, John's smile returns in the form of a satisfied smirk. Now there's six people (including himself) arriving to this little party...wherever it is. And no, he didn't count the agents. He's pretty sure they're members of the undead anyways.

Soon, his smile returns in full force, his chin-length hair swaying a bit as he turns to look at each of the new arrivals.

Ah, now seven are here! This just gets better and better! Of course, as always, the agents have to remind them of they're mysterious and elusive goal: to get to an even more elusive and even more mysterious location. Thus, John walks over to the sliding door, humming a catchy little tune along the way

"Enjoy your nap?" Grace asks softly, retrieving her jacket.

[Lord Raziere]

Elina follows Sonja, casting a cool look upon the DREV agent that said that.

[Beans]

Allie looks at Grace.
... Yeah.
Thanks.
Everyone's luggage is seen to by agents.
"Go through that door there, down those stairs, and into the first door on your right."
Allie stumbles toward the door; if that set of directions is taken, they'll end up in a bleak room with folding chairs and nothing else.

Veran heads that way, and takes a seat once he is there.

Elina takes one the chairs in the that room, specifically, the seventh from the left.

John calls out to Allie as she stumbles. "Careful now! Don't want to run into any walls now."

Then, as they enter, John gives a quick look about the place, soon sitting down with his legs crossed.

Grace takes the directions, grudgingly.

[Beans]

Allie glances at John; when she reaches the room, she sits in a chair near the door and yawns.

[Quinsar]

Veran watches John....

"The Elina questions the need for all this roundaboutness."
Elina suddenly said out loud.

John just sits there, looking quite relaxed despite being in an uncomfortable chair. He's wearing a simple brown jacket and a blue turtleneck. His frame is skinny, wiry. He looks androgynous, his blonde hair tipped with white falling down to his chin, and his bright blue eyes looking outwards. A smile just rests there, as though it had been there all of his life. His black jeans are somewhat tight, but apparently not enough to be uncomfortable or limiting.

He looks to Elina when she says this, almost chuckling. Oh the pranks he could pull right now.

I jus' wanna know why they pulled this crap so early in the morning...
Allie stretches.

Okay, this was too much. John had to do something, say something. He was owed this, and these people just made it too easy!

So, he looks around the room to Allie and Elina. "You know they could be monitoring us. After all, they are Them, and They, are everywhere. Who knows what They are going to do with the tapes."

Yeah. Who know what theyl do with the footage of us sitting here.
He says to John with a sigh.

[Recaiden]

"Does it matter what they do with the tapes?" Grace smiles and takes a seat.

[Beans]

They'll have evidence you're annoying us all.

Footsteps are coming down the hallway.

[InyutheBeatIs]

...Great. The lack of sleep must be getting to him. "Well then, why don't you ask them right now?" He gives a smile, then faces where the newcomers will undoubtedly stand.

[Mina Kobold]

Rina sits down in a random seat that happens to be right next to Veran

"I bet you all look wonderful on the tapes~<3"

She say out of the blue, absent mindedly watching a lock of her hair as if she had no concerns at all.

Veran looks at Rina.
Thanks...
My name is Veran, who are you?

Allie looks at Rina.
... Wh... yeah, have fun with that.

Lev follows the others into the room and sits down on one of the chairs.

Rina looks at Veran with a smile and wide eyes

"I'm Rina, nice to meet you"

She is almost immediately distracted by the lock of hair that is now blocking her vision of Veran and, devoting her full attention to it, she pushes it aside.

It returns again a second later

His head is covered in a slim, featureless helmet of dull orange. Tubes run from the mouth bit to under his collar. His hands are covered in the same dull orange stuff.

"The Elina guesses it is a powerful alien. The Alien could not have caused such devastation otherwise. Martians would've been preferable."
Elina put a finger on her chin.
"However, the fact that they are telling us this is troubling enough. It implies that there is still a threat. Even more troubling: it implies that we might be their only hope."

As if on cue, WARNING SIREN.

John looks at Elina puzzlingly, before looking back to the man as the sirens blare. "Aaaaand thats our queue to go fight off our esteemed guests, isn't it?" His voice is rather teasingly...threatening? Knowing?

Elina looks up at the red warning light flashing and siren blaring out.
"What a pretty sound. What a pretty light."
She commented, probably in sarcasm, then she turned to Sahaquiel
"The Elina inquires of the Orange-Head: how are we to act in this situation?"

I assume we're supposed to rush some where and 'suit up'?
Art stows his PSP and stretches, cracking his back loudly.

He taps the side of his helmet and curses.
Shut up and follow me.
He'll lead them down the halls and stuff and to locker rooms.
Each of you has one with your name on it. Get in and change into the piloting suit provided.

John practically skips into the locker room, suits up within a few moments, and comes out, giving a minor (and probably mock) salute as he does so. The suit most likely flatters his thin frame. "Does this suit look like my kind of suit?"

Allie changes into her own suit in the girls' locker room and... we're waiting for Quin and Kevvy and MZ nao.

Alien, huh? Weird. But, Lev guessed, not impossible. Still, out of all the trillions of parsecs of space out there, it manages to land on a small hunk of rock orbiting a medium sized star on the edge of a spiral galaxy. Coincidence? Who knows...

He quickly put on the suit. Hopefully, it'd fit on properly.

"So what do we do?" he asked.

She looks convinced that this is the answer and hapily, and silently, skips along with the others.

John glances at the man, then the tube, then back at the man, then Art. "Ten Euros on it is a robot!" And then, John jumps down the tube.

He contorts his face into a confused expression,

And he jumps through head first, arms out stretched like superman.

"It's money. What else do you need to know?" Grace swings herself into the tube, feet-first.

Rina watches all the others take off and looks curiously at the 3.5 hatch before jumping into it and spiralling down at top speed.

She shouts, the echoes going

Rina lands upside down in the seat, yet she only notices the wet floor when she has gotten hold of which way is up and adjusted herself accordingly.

She asks to the air, still disoriented from the trip

The liquid is nothing to worry about.
It's aerated, so don't be afraid when it...
Starts rising.
Fills the cockpit.

John looks a bit frightened for the first time in who-knows how long when the liquid starts rising. "Well, I'm sure that they wouldn't do anything to drown us after we just got here...right?"

"Right?"

Lev sniffed the liquid a bit.

"Maybe," he answered.

"Right! Breath it in and don't complain."

[Lord Raziere]

Elina lets the liquid fill up the cockpit. For some reason she doesn't seem shocked or surprised.
"Huh. This is new."

[Mina Kobold]

Rina bends down to look closer at the liquid and, as is the first order of business when asked to get submerged in and breathe a liquid, licks some up to taste it.

"Huh? It tastes li-"

The rest of her sentence is garbled as the liquid reaches her face and causes her to fall over in surprise.

"!"

[Beans]

The liquid tastes like not much, but smells vaguely of old blood.
It fills the cockpits, but... they can breathe!

Art smiles.

Grace shivers and considers holding her nose to keep the smell out. But realizes she can't.

At first John holds his breath and closes his eyes as the liquid rises, but eventually he lets go of his breath, opens his eyes, and realizes that he can actually breath. He of course goes back to smiling, but his normally witty response is made a bit hard by the liquid. He seems dissapointed by this, putting his chin in his hand to show his dissatisfaction.

There's a weird sound and the liquid becomes clear... they'll even be able to talk!
The cockpits are lighted, but the viewscreens are blank.

Cool, so now what? And where are we?
Art laughs and moves around in the liquid.

The viewscreens turn on.

Oh my gods.

Each person will see a humanoid figure standing before them, about 20 feet tall.

John smiles, both at the fact that he is now looking at what he's inside of and the fact that he can talk. He reclines back into his chair, his hands hovering over the controls, his fingers tapping on an area that won't cause the machine to go ballistic. "Hello good chap. How are we doing this morning? I hope you got a good night's sleep, because it's time to go to work."

Grace is grinning at the sight of the robots.
"Well? What are we to do with them?"

"Feed them? Give them hugs?"

Rina reply to Grace, while trying to swim around in the liquid and stand upside-down

"Maybe they just like being looked at?"

[Maximum Zersk]

Lev stares at them. "Cool..." he says to himself.

"Oh my god, this is so cool!" he exclaims like an excited ten-year old.

[Beans]

She grabbed a handle in the cockpit and moved it.

Outside, 07's arm sprang to life.

Elina grabbed the other handle and moved it as well.

Both arms sprang to life, moving about.

"Now how to get the legs?" she wondered.

"Well isn't that why you brought us here in the first place? Let's get to it!" Plus, the Elina is beating her to it. Grace hurriedly searches for the controls and starts slowly moving the robot.
