Horizon Walker Shadowdancer Elocator Psion Uncarnate Pyro/Cryo/Electro/Aceto/Sonokineticist War Mind
For each one, is it any good? If so, how do I approach it? I'm not very good at determining PrC balance, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Edit: I don't necessarily mean good for any one build. I mean, say if I were to build a guy that went into the prestige. How would I go about it, and how effective would it end up?

In order, for core only.
Yes
No, only good for the earlier use of HiPS
Yes
No, unless you enter via Ardent to retain 9th level powers
Not for primary manifestors, but for melee guys who want to do touch attacks with energy damage, sure
Yes!

Outside of core those found in the DMG are kind of worth less than before, but the psionic PrCs hold up due to the lack of support for psionics in general.

Could someone help me out? I still could use some help in getting into those classes

Edit: I don't mean what tier they're on! I mean, how do I go about taking them? What races and base class combinations go into those prestiges most efficiently and play them to their fullest potential? How many levels of each prestige are worth the investment? (Individually, not all on one character.)

I think this will be helpful. (http://brilliantgameologists.com/boards/index.php?topic=5198.0)

"How effective" depends on what you're entering with. For example, A War Mind is a terrible option for a Psychic Warrior, but an excellent option for a Soulknife. Pyrokineticist is best combined with a totally martial class and a psionic race, etc.

That was why I asked how to approach them. I'm not asking if going into Pyro with a Wizard or something is a good combo.
I'm asking what the best build composition is to enter it and play it effectively is, and how powerful said build composition with said prestige class is.

Sorry if I wasn't clear before, but I hope I'm clear enough on this now.

Edit: Have just looked at Horizon Tripper, and liked it. I wonder if I can use that feat that allows you to do two attacks when you dual-wield and make an AoO if I dual-wield a reach weapon- I was thinking of going Sonokineticist 1 in addition to the build and dual-wielding Sonic Lashes...

If you're looking for builds:

1. Horizon Walker is pretty versatile in terms of what you can do with it. Desert terrain mastery is a poor man's tierless rage for PrC-heavy barbarian builds. The rest of it has been leveraged beautifully in the Horizon Tripper, a build you can google.

5-6. Were the subject of Iron Chef competitions on these boards. Look at them for ideas.

Pyrokineticist War Mind

The Iron (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=160266) Chef (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?p=9426386#post9426386) competitions should help with those two. I'd look specifically at the winners if you want to see higher-end uses of the class.

Hmm... I can't find the winners of the Iron Chef competitions. Could someone show me where they are?

Edit: I know WHOSE build won, I just can't find the class.

Generally the winner is announced at the end of the thread.

Pyro (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showpost.php?p=8991346&postcount=221) winners. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showpost.php?p=8991338&postcount=220)

War Mind (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showpost.php?p=9465081&postcount=102) winners. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showpost.php?p=9465003&postcount=94)

The entries are posted with the 1st place winner in the class name, with 2nd place after it..

Okay, I think I'm pretty much set. What are the best Horizon Walker Terrain Masteries? I think the PTMs are pretty obvious-- Shifting and Cavernous.

Logical Entries
Horizon Walker - (see: Horizon Tripper)
Shadowdancer - Rogue. Stop after Hide In Plain Sight though.
Elocator - Psychic Warrior (probably not worth it though)
Psion Uncarnate - Psion
Pyrokineticist - any non-psionic melee class with a psionic race or the "Wild Talent" feat (dubiously worthwhile though)
War Mind - any multiclass psi/nonpsi... Barbarian3/PsiWar2, for example.

At a quick glance, Desert and Underground are the only ones that provide new abilities, so those should be worth your time. Apart from that, it really depends on which skills you want to boost.
