Hi,

I am playing an elven cleric archer build (full cleric level 14, but a PrC can probably be taken for earlier levels) and would like to get advice on how to further optimize him, with PrCs or other options. He is the lowest level character in a high level campaign (other are level 16-18). Here is an overview of the character:

Al: LN
Domains: elf, time
feats: rapid shot & magic creation feats

the hope is to go for full spell progression.

At the moment he is optimized (spells and items) for buffing himself with Divine Power and Divine Favour etc. to start shooting a hail of arrows. Holy Bow, rod of Quicken, spells to enhance dmg (weapon of energy, bane weapon) are part of his daily bread.

I would be greatfull for suggestions on PrCs or PrCs features that might be used to create my own PrC. So far the cleric PrCs have not really convinced me. The idea is to stay with full caster progression, while bringing in some elements to boost the overall character strength.

Suggestions on feats, spells (especially high level) and excellent items are most welcome!

Thanks for the help,

Malik

Seeker of the Misty Isle from Complete Divine is nice. Your cleric will get two free bonus domains - Travel and Magic. RAW, it is 10/10 casting; even if your DM disagrees, you can still dip in for 4 levels without losing any casting (per the table), picking up the Travel domain and the Swiftfooted ability along the way.

To qualify you'll need 8 ranks in Survival. A dip into Ruathar (RotW) beforehand makes this requirement cake; 3/3 casting, super-easy requirements, and your elf will be the elfiest elf to have ever elfed.

Contemplative in CD can get you two more domains with quite a few nice abilities. Something like Cleric 6/ Ruathar 3/ Seeker of the Misty Isle 1/ Contemplative 10 is pretty good. Divine Oracle 4 is also a nice dip early on, you get Evasion and Uncanny Dodge, and the feat prerequisite can be gained via the Frog God's Fane in CS without spending a feat on it. Pick up the Spell domain if you can, Anyspell and Greater Anyspell are worth having.

Cloistered Cleric (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/classes/variantCharacterClasses.htm#clericVariantCloistere dCleric) is usually better than standard Cleric. With that you can get Knowledge Devotion from CC in place of the Knowledge domain for some free bonuses to attack and damage rolls.

Item Familiar (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/magic/itemFamiliars.htm) is extremely useful, get a +1 Elvencraft (RotW) bow and make it your item familiar and you can upgrade it with anything you can afford as though you meet all the prerequisites even if you have no item creation feats. As an intelligent item it's treated as a construct, which means it continues to function in an AMF and dead magic area and cannot be sundered, dispelled, or disjoined. You can enchant an Elvencraft longbow as both a quarterstaff and a bow, so three weapons. Make each end of the quarterstaff section +1 Defending and always put it toward your AC, and cast Greater Magic Weapon on all three parts of it each day.

You should get rid of most of your item creation feats, and pick up Extend, Persistent, and DMM: Persistent. Cast Greater Luminous Armor on yourself each day, and cast Magic Vestment on it to grant an Enhancement bonus to its armor bonus. Get a standard Strand of Prayer Beads which has had the Bead of Smiting removed, it should only cost 9,000 gp, and use the Bead of Karma to get +4 CL for your buffs. Get a Monk's Belt to get your Wisdom bonus to AC. Cast Anyspell to prepare and cast DMM: Persistent Shield, and cast Magic Vestment on that as well. Get a bunch of Night Sticks to use DMM: Persist more often. You could even put a low stat in Dex and get Zen Archery (CW) to use your Wisdom bonus for attack rolls. Take the feat Otherworldly (PGtF) to get the Ousider creature type, and use Greater Anyspell to prepare and cast (DMM: Persistent) Draconic Polymorph (Draconomicon) to take the form of an Arrow Demon (MM3).
