View Full Version : Irresistable Air Guitar Songs

Every time the song Fly By Night (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0lpVjXwAfm0) comes on my laptop playlist, I just have to drop what I'm doing and partake in an epic air-drum rendition of the Canadian rock classic. Which is weird, seeing as even though I will never be able to play it on the drums, I can actually play the song on guitar. :smalltongue:

SO! I ask the playground, are there any songs you just can't stop yourself from playing along to, whether it be mouthing the words, wailing chords you don't know on an invisible guitar, or beating the crap out of the air in front of you?

Excuse me, I must resume my Peartesque flailing.

Definately More than a Feeling (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSR6ZzjDZ94). I would be air guitaring to it now, but people keep walking into the room when it gets to the good parts and I don't want to look silly.

Though I just realized I am mouthing the words along and headbanging, so the whole not looking silly thing didn't work out.

The solo in Tetragrammaton (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1FxTzj70k2A). Kicks in right at the start of that video. :smallcool: The solo about ten minutes into Racecar (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hHtMzU2L57I) is always a good one for air-soloing to as well.

And Dysphoria (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hB75rvrv5YA), too. With riffs like that... :smallcool:

It's not a typical 'air guitar' song, but I'd have to emphatically nominate the Phil Collins song "In the Air Tonight (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YkADj0TPrJA)." I don't know of anyone who doesn't listen to that song just to wait for the drums to come in, and it's pretty rare not see people 'air drumming' when it happens. (I bet this song has helped in a fair number of traffic accidents...)

If you can even air guitar this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eK0rvReE-4c), then you are truly a god.

Also, I always have to air guitar to this. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S8sVAY2TlYo)

Alternatively, Grim Reaper (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yhTdKigJhZc), Dio (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ni8EuykMsI), and Ratt (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0u8teXR8VE4&ob=av2n) are fun to air guitar, too.

But I mainly both sing and air guitar. xD

I am totally feeling the Boston and Ratt, and have caught myself riffing along with the former on many occasions. Keep em coming!

Sultans is quite air guitarish. And a most certain +1 for In The Air Tonight.

Personally, I can't help but air-keyboard to Rockit (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nK0Pi4wC8Hk).

The main riff to Cocaine by Eric Clapton. Easy. Simple. Catchy. Epic. Everything that makes Clapton the demi-god he is.

I start to play air drums every time I hear Run to the hills (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7ToNJHgp-w), even when I bicycle. It's a good thing that I don't have a driver's license yet!

I dare anyone's fingers not to twitch for the solo to Out in the Fields (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xsKpazeA5L8&feature=related).

Hallowed Be Thy Name (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2AMvf0P08vA) is another air guitar masterpiece.

But (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TopkgGxGzQs) the (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AgCe56T4HxU&feature=related) kings (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=liqT8X6PG3M&feature=related) are (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lUOraHUJe08&feature=related) Judas (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bGDJvxjSR5c) Preist (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0EeQITmIUg&feature=fvw).

I can't play air guitar, but whenever my MP3 player hits My Baby's In Love With Eddie Vedder (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tjyI5G2xoT8), I can't help but start playing the air accordion.

It's hard for me to resist air-guitaring ANY Blind Guardian song, but the one that gets me every single time is The Soulforged (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ga-q0F7oWnU). Sometimes I air-drum to it instead.

This song (http://users.wolfcrews.com/toys/vikings/) gets me every time (with or without the cats).

Other good ones:

"Johnny B. Goode," Chuck Berry
"Keep Yourself Alive," Queen

+1 for Rush, I've had people ask me if I can actually play drums (I can't) after air-Pearting the intro to Spirit of the Radio. The drum fills on Tom Sawyer and 2112 are fun too. No matter what I'm doing though, no matter where I am, I always take a minute to air-bass the solo in Freewill (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OnxkfLe4G74).

Also, I can't believe no one's brought up Journey (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rfUYuIVbFg0) yet, I mean come on people. :smalltongue:

That's about all that comes to mind for now, except the bass entry in Roundabout (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=byeSPOIffVE) by Yes, always awesome.

For that matter, stuff like In Extremo, Eluveitie, for example, make me blow into the air flute/bagpipe/whatever quite frequently - now it has to look silly. :smalltongue:

Most of the Transformers: The Movie soundtrack probably fits here.

Dare (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZua7JSgZz0) to Hunger (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wvOcAc8LKOY) for The Touch (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ONpnnz13R8), so that Nothin's Gonna Stand in Our Way (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wvOcAc8LKOY&feature=related), Transformers (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qr5JMnDFqqw), DtHfTTstNGSiOW!

Queens of the Stone Age and The Strokes have some pretty air-guitar friendly songs... and as much as I don't care for the White Stripes, Seven Nation Army has a pretty badass riff.

I find that one better to play on a real guitar than an air guitar. The pentatonic riffs and 12th fret Tony Iommi E minor chord, minor melodies and 7th power chords are all just pure metal groove, fit to be played with your eyes closed.

Agreed. Tony Iommi is a badass, certainly one of the better guitarists out there.
