Isn't 100g to thousands of gold a little steep for what is essentially a simple trap you could pay commoners a GP or two to set up? Or free if they're slaves?

What are the best resources for building traps as an adventurer? Quick (both under 1 day and under 1 hour timeframe) and cheap.

And no I don't mean spells like grease, I mean traps, like a pit trap or a snare.

I know theres combat trapsmith, but what else? Normal craft check ones that are cheap or free?

It could have something to do with the price-fixing monopolisation of prices by the Trapmakers and Sappers Union.
Having more or less emporiums equipped with this service will still guarantee a price hike. It's economics that is the true danger in D&D.

In PF, there's the following traps (http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/environment.html#traps).

Kobolds are cheap...and expendable!

Trapsmith PrC, from Dungeonscape. It can set up one of its traps as a full-round action, and the cheapest of its traps costs only 1 sp (assuming you can find a heavy object to arm it with).
