Yeesh. I'm so sorry. The closest experience I've had is my friend's mother passing away from a blockage in her brain - THAT was an awesome, entirely not-full-of-suck week, let me tell you. /sarcasm

But really though, for what it's worth, you've got minimum of one person in an entirely different country that's never met you that feels sorry for your loss and would help in most any way possible to assuage the suckiness that's bound to follow.

At least his suffering is over. Wherever he is now, nothing can hurt him anymore.
He may be gone, but he'll live on in your mind, and in your heart. Always remember the wonderful times you had with him.
It was a wonderful thing you did, being there for him in his final moments. I can only imagine it was his dearest wish to die knowing he was loved. And you were there to wish him farewell. I'm so proud of you.
And remember, we'll always be here for you, even in the darkest times. We may be scattered across the world, but we're all together here.

Hang in there mate, I'm not gonna lie, it's probably going to be naff for quite a while, but as horrible as it sounds, it does start to pick up again. My dad passed away of a heart attack nearly two years ago, so I kind of know where you are, and I'm sorry.

Do whatever you need to to to cope with it, and know that there's people around who're there for you.
