Damsel in Distress
"God, please help me"
--Book Six of the Dresden Files, Blood Rites
Prerequisites: Female, NpC, Cha 16, Protected by the party.
Hit Die: d12

Lack of Common Sense: When she thinks she is right the Damsel will be willing to approach a person whose alignment Does not match hers, unarmed and without any sort of guard, and attempt to set them straight, tell them what they are doing wrong and tell them how much trouble they will get in. Of course this sort of attitude that allows the antagonist of the campaign arc (or story arc, if you aren't shooting high) to steal the Damsel, who is now in distress.

Sleeping Beauty: While asleep, the damsel doubles her charisma.

Aura of Killer's Killer: Anyone who kills the damsel, by accident or purposefully, is killed by all gods simultaneously within a week.
Special: All kidnappers Know of this trait subconsciously, and they don't even attempt to kill them.

Resistance: The Damsel adds her Charisma bonus to her Will save.

Unintentional Attraction (Ex): At second level, every male and female (who are appropriately sexually oriented) who sees the damsel must make a DC 15 + her Charisma Score to not become "lovestruck".
Special: Always Used. Doesn't work against kidnappers. Used when asleep.
Lovestruck: Functions as a Dominate Person spell. The dominated person will also protect the damsel from "ANY" perceived threat. Duration 10 mins./level, then dominated person can attempt a new save.

Faint: In any stressful situation, the damsel faints.

Greater Sleeping Beauty:While asleep, the damsel triples her charisma.

Actually there are certain benefits this class should come with and you gave it the one benefit it SHOULDN'T have... it should have DECREASING BAB as it gains levels, probably the negative of the class level. I would even consider giving it d12's for hd and Good fortitude saves... they are made to get CAPTURED, never KILLED. Speaking of which, a Continuous Sanctuary effect against any sort of attack that is intended to kill (so non-lethal damage doesn't count, and sleep-poisoned daggers are OK too) couldn't hurt, although it should MAYBE end for a few rounds if she attacks. Some rules about a massive will-save being required to marry her against her will in anything but the most elaborate cerimony might be nice. Basically she should be The Load to the party, yes, but she should ALSO be a walking Idiot Ball to the villians.

thanks, I'll implement those suggestions immediately.

So does her dominate effect work on all males regardless of their species or sexual orientation?

mmm... Yes. Think half minotaurs.
sexual orientation, however means that they are immune to her effects.

Constant Hostage: The ability to be kidnapped at almost any time. At the beginning of the day, roll a d100. Add 2(Cha Modifier + Class Levels*). if this roll exceeds 40, the "damsel" gets kidnapped during a random encounter at sometime during the day.

make it an attempt or dump the ability altogether. Plot should dictate when she gets kidnapped and the PC's should be able to do something about it.

This is a bit vague. How about give her a slow movement rate and a dexterity and wisdom penalty?

And maybe the 'dumb' power-Foolishness:When she thinks she is right the damsel will willing approach a bad person, unharmed and without any sort of guard, and attempt to 'set them straight' and 'tell them what they are doing wrong' and tell them 'how much trouble they will get in'. For the classic Woman walks over to Big Bad-"your plains are foiled now Overlord, my Hero has defeated you!" Bag guy rubs chin-"Perhaps......but now I have YOU [Grab].

The "Resist" ability is a bit clunky, since all classes have a Will save progression. Make it a Good progression (+2/+3+3), then give Resist as a class feature that adds the Damsel's Charisma bonus (minimum +1) to Will saves.

Heh, all you need is a way to cast while asleep and sorcerors would love this.

Is the Aura of Killer's Killer a (su) or (ex) ability? Because if it's supernatural, you could get away with killing her in an anti-magic field.

Ex, cause the gods see your deed.

Whether an NPC is captured or not should be a matter of plot, not of game mechanics, I think.
Which stories were your inspiration for this ability? I've never seen a tale where the capture of the lady is caused by her own stupidity. :smallconfused:

Aura of Killer's Killer: Anyone who kills the damsel, by accident or purposefully, is killed by all gods simultaneously within a week.
Special: All kidnappers Know of this trait subconsciously, and they don't even attempt to kill them.
Why the gods care? And why would anyone want to kill a damsel in distress, anyway? The villain needs her for whatever evil purpose he's up to, the henchmen must not harm her, either, and the heroes have come to free her.

Now, let's assume she's not been captured by the evil Baron, but has been chosen as a sacrifice to the dragon who terrorizes the kingdom. Normally, the people would want feed the damsel to the beast in order to dissuade it from burninating the realm, unless the hero(es) arrive(s) in the nick of time, the dragon gets killed and the damsel and the kingdom are saved.
But now: Dragon > eats damsel > BOOM! > people are save again! :smallwink:
