Have you ever wanted to pair up some of the most outrageous fictional characters in an all out brawl? Well this is your chance.

64 universes have been chosen - from each two will rise: a hero and a villain.

The first rules are easy - each voter picks a hero and villain from each universe that has been chosen. If you don't know a universe, you don't have to vote for that one. Finally, no single voter can choose the same character as both a hero and a villain.

Let's have a go, then:

1.) Aliens vs. Predator verse

Um... I only saw the original Alien movie. Ripley seemed pretty cool, though, and I know she goes on to star in more movies. Villain vote's split between the robot and the alien, the latter of which isn't strictly speaking a villain and the former of which isn't all that effective. I'll just say the xenomorph.

2.) Animorphs

Never read.

3.) Arthurian Legend

The hero choice is obviously Lancelot to me. Villain is Mordred, especially the Once and Future King version.

4.) Avatar 'verse

...Cameron or Last Airbender? If the latter, I swear I'm going to get around to watching it some day. If the former, Grace for hero (Jake messes up too much stuff for me to vote for him) and Quattrich for villain.

5.) Berserk

Never watched.

6.) Buffyverse

Willow for hero here. She's not the chosen one, but she still makes sacrifices and fights the forces of darkness. She only edges out Wesley (in Angel, obviously; his role in Buffy is kind of... yeah) because I haven't seen all of Angel. For the villain, I'm going with Faith. By far my favorite villain in the series.

7.) Code Geass

Wait, there were heroes in Code Geass? Really? I mean, I guess maybe Euphemia? She was more of a victim, though. Still, she made an honest attempt and got pretty close, so points for that, Euphemia. Villain slot is a no-contest win for Lelouch. Smart, stylish, and even a little sympathetic.

8.) Dark Tower

Roland's pretty badass, sure, but so's everyone else, and his monomania is kind of unnerving. I'm giving the hero slot to Eddie, because he gets some pretty awesome intimidation scenes. Villain is Randall Flagg/Walter o'Dim/The Man in Black/Whatever Else You Want To Call Him.

9.) DC Universe

Um... My knowledge of the DCU is actually kind of limited. I hate to cast a vote for Batman/Heath Ledger when I know there are better choices I just haven't read. So I'm abstaining and letting the proper fans have more of a say.

10.) Discworld

Why did you have to make the hero choice so difficult for me? In the end, it came down to a contest between Sam Vimes and Granny Weatherwax. I think Sam Vimes just barely edges ahead here. The villain should be an even harder choice, as there's so many more villains and all of them are really good, but I just had to settle on the one from my favorite Discworld book:

11. Disney Animated Canon

Hero is Aladdin. Villain is the guy who sang "Hellfire," Frollo. That song alone is win.

12. Doctor Who (Each incarnation of the Doctor is a different character)

I am vaguely aware that the doctors all have different numbers and that there are these little robots that shout "EXTERMINATE" all the time. I realize this is probably horribly offensive to British people, though, so I won't vote on that knowledge alone.

13.) Donkey Kong

If DK's so awesome, how did he manage to get kidnapped twice?! Hero role goes to Dixie Kong, because that helicopter ponytail makes her a goddess in any platformer game. Villain role goes to Kaptain K. Rool. He has style. (Yes, I'm aware that all the K. Rools are the same person. I'm still giving my vote to that particular alter-ego).

14. Dragonball

Never watched.

15 Dungeons and Dragons (Forgotten Realms, Eberron, Dragonlance, Ravenloft, Greyhawk)

Bah. You make your own heroes! That's the entire point!

16 Ender Verse

Only read the first book, but the most heroic character there was probably Ender himself. Sure, he resorts to pretty dirty tactics at times, but you can really feel his desperation, and he doesn't know about the horrible consequences until later. As for villain... Were there really any villains there? I'd like to blame the entire system that thought taking some kid and tricking him into committing xenocide for you was a smart plan, but I'm not sure that has enough of a "face" to be a villain.

17 Final Fantasy (includes all humans from Kingdom Hearts)

Never played a single FF game in my life.

18. Full Metal Alchemist

Oh, yeah, I was seriously going to get around to this one.

19 Gargoyles

Uh... I know I'm the right age to have watched this, but... I just saw that one episode where they were in a post-apocalyptic future but it turned out it was all a dream (or was it a prophecy?) made by Puck. Wow, I feel embarrassed now.

20Ghostbusters

Bill Murray as the hero. Possessed Sigourney Weaver as the villain. No, I don't remember their names. Sorry.

21GI Joe

Didn't watch.

22Godzilla

Does Godzilla himself count as a hero? He does tend to incidentally protect humanity when he fights the evil monsters. The best villain is Mecha-Godzilla, because the only thing more awesome than a radioactive dragon/dinosaur is a cyborg radioactive dragon/dinosaur. Okay, technically the cockroaches were the villains there, but who cares?

23Greek Myth

So many heroes to choose from, but I'll go with Odysseus. It was really close between him and Hector, though. Best villain is Hera.

24Gundam

Also never watched.

25Half Life

Poor Gordon doesn't have enough speaking lines to develop a stunning personality. Alyx is a pretty cool NPC companion. She's resilient enough that it's not really an escort mission, and she's surprisingly helpful, too. For villain, I'm tempted to nominate Gordon Freeman of the "Freeman's Mind" series... but no, I'm going with Doctor Breen, the strangely avuncular overlord of City 17.

26Halo

I honestly have no opinion.

27Harry Potter

Hero is Hermione. Villain... is it odd that I found Bellatrix more villainous than Voldemort?

I actually grew up more on the Tiny Toons, so I'm voting Buster as the "hero." Wile E. Coyote still wins the villain spot, though. Those shorts are timeless.

32Lord of the Rings

Aragorn for hero, mostly for his actions at the climax of RotK. It takes something really special to shout "Hey! I've got your Ring!" to the Dark Lord and then march right up to his doorstep just to keep him occupied. Villain goes to Glaurung. Sure, other guys may wreak havoc on a much wider scope, but that guy is just slimy and sadistic on a very personal level while still being a global threat.

Hero vote goes to Samus Aran. Honestly, she'd have won this vote no matter how many other heroes were in the game. The fact that she's the only one with any screentime is just complete overkill (Other M? What Other M?). Villain vote... Okay, I really want to give it to the Metroid Prime (aka Dark Samus) for all the damage and chaos it/she causes, but I just can't get over how much fun it is to fight Ridley.

Didn't really care for most of the heroes either way. Hey, it's a fighting game: You could very well end up beating this guys up later on, so it's best not to get attached. Bison makes for a nice final boss, though.

Hero role goes to Sarah Connor. After years of being brainwashed and abused in a twisted insane asylum, she still has the strength to get back up and punch fate in the nose! Sure she's completely insane, but you'd be, too, in that situation. Villain goes to T-1000.

I didn't see enough of this to actually tell the turtles apart, sadly enough.

In case you haven't picked up on it yet, I didn't watch that much TV as a kid.

Does Frankenstein (the man) count as a tragic hero? Villain is of course Dracula.

I've been thinking of getting around to starting the series, but the length is really intimidating. Plus the author died. I may like what I've seen of Sanderson's work so far, but doesn't that get a little... discontinuous?
