My wife, our friend Felicia and I discovered the world's biggest D20 today...

Huh, I always pronounced it "dee-20." Am I doing it wrong?

Me and both my groups do that as well.

No. You Sir, have no large sheets of card and duck tape. Seriously if you are going to mention that it looks like a D20 to put on the You Tube go the whole way. Measure its sides. Get some big card and cut to the correct side. Write numbers on it. Then go back and make a real giant D20. I can see the potential, but I cannot see the effort.

In other news :P

I too always proncounced it Dee-20, as this is a contraction of Twenty sided die. But I can see the alternative.

@V Yeah, like that.

I too have always said 'dee' when describing the different dice. It actually grates on my nerves to hear "die" when describing the dice.
Doesn't help that the only people I hear say "die" tend to have really annoying voices, like that chick from the Nanny.

OK, I'm confused. If this thing came up 20, why did they put it in front of the Building 10 lobby? Building 20 doesn't exist any more, but they put Building 32 in its place. :smallconfused:

Maybe they were too lazy to carry it further?

M.I.T. hacks and laziness don't exist in the same spaces. Here's an example (http://www.flickr.com/photos/dan4th/594773481/in/set-72157600382512674/). Even the simplest hacks require significant energy, such as covering the ugly "Transparent Horizons" statue in 12' of snow whenever there's enough accumulation on the East Campus courtyard to do the job.

I gotta say, that's pretty awesome. And you're voice sounds pretty sweet!

I have to agree. The d20-shaped climbing thingy isn't nearly as entertaining to me as how awesome this guy's voice is. He sounds like he loves to be alive, and that everything around him is amazing and wonderful.

I would pay to have this guy walk around and narrate my life, just because I don't think I'd ever be sad or bored ever again. It'd just be like "Oh man! You're getting in the car! This car is so great! Man, cars are just wonderful! Have you ever stood back and just looked at a car! They're so magnificent! And look at you! You look so good turning those keys! Those are a fine set of keys, if I've ever seen one! Vroom vroom, hear that engine start?! Today is gonna be amazing, you just watch! Yeah!"

It's a shame he lives in New Hampshire. I want to stand near him and be his friend.

I've always pronounced it 'die-twenty' etc... It's how the first edition veteran I learned D&D from taught it to me, just makes more sense to me.

I wonder how Gygax pronounced it...

I know exactly where that is. I live just down the road from the elementary school it was built at. When I went to school there 7 years ago that was all woods right there. Only that swing set was in place. Good times.

And lo did the gamer hear Gygax speak from beyond the grave, and madness filled his mind as he writhed and twisted before dying.

You would say, "I have a twenty sided die." You would not say, "I have a twenty side 'dee'." So You should say, die-20. Dee-20 would be gamer slang. Which I use as well.
