View Full Version : [3.5]Doppelganger PC build help

I am going to be joining a game where the DM has allowed me to play a Doppelganger without the LA(tho I have to buy the 4 lvls of HD). This game is an EVIL campaign with Gestalt characters. I will be starting at lvl 10 so far this is what I have come up with so far.

1) Beguiler/Monstrous Humanoid
2) Beguiler/Monstrous Humanoid
3) Beguiler/Monstrous Humanoid
4) Beguiler/Monstrous Humanoid
5) Beguiler/Hexblade
6) Hexblade/Mindbender
7) Hexblade/Shadow Adept
8) Beguiler or Hexblade/Cabinet Trickster
9) Beguiler/Mindspy
10) Beguiler/Mindspy

From here if I took Hexblade at 8 its Beguiler till I finish Mindspy and Cabinet Trickster. (Mindspy to 4th, Cabinet to 3rd then Mindspy to 5th) from here I may start going Recaster, but that is far enough ahead I don't see the need to invest to much time in that right now. I will start playing this coming Friday.

Feats
I get 7-8 I believe 4 from lvls, 2 from flaws, 2 from doppel

I have picked 3
Mindsight
Shadow Weave Magic
Persona Immersion

I am thinking about Quick Change, Disturbing Visage

I could use help in this department

Please post your ideas thank you all VERY much.

Dopplegangers have telepathy? odd....
Warshaper from CWarrior is a very nice PRC for dopplegangers. In just a few levels you can pick up fun stuff like fast healing, crit immunity, and +4 str/con. very nice to pair with beguiler. and improved reach for better channeling!

They don't, but the first level of Mindbender gives it.

Watch out with Mindsight. It may annoy your DM, overload with information or turn you into a walking GPS that your fellow party members exploit. Possibly all three.

Or at least, that was my experience. :smallmad:

Agreed. Mindsight's a feat more applicable to theory/arena fights than it is practical adventuring, because it's a potent flavor-breaker and the DM will have to accomodate for it. Unfortunately for mindsight, accomodation means either changing mindsight, information overload, or making creatures simply immune.

After some tweaking I find Wizard maybe a better base class to work with. At 1st I thought Sorcerer so I could just focus Cha, but Wizard gets better spells options, skill points, bonus feats, I can pick a specialist wizard and immediatemagic picking necro for "cursed glance".

I am still in love with the Beguiler skill spread tho. without beguiler as my base I lose DisableD +16, Hide +15, MS +15 Search +16

As a wizard I am able to keep up in the important skills Bluff, Concent, Diplo, Disguise, Gather Info, Intim, Arcana, Spellcraft, Sense Mo, Local.

Gives me a feeling of not being able to sneak and snoop as much, but I guess that is a silly feeling seeing how I am a Doppelganger.
