Let's assume a group of characters have concealed themselves in a Rope Trick in an enclosed space such as an underground chamber. While spells cannot be cast into or out of this pocked dimension, it's fairly obvious that physical object or creatures can enter and exit.

What would happen if the location containing the Rope Trick was flooded with liquid or gas? For example the chamber is flooded with water, or a dragon unleashes its breath weapon. Would this also affect the characters in the pocked dimension?

acording to the first sentance of the second paragraph in the SRD
http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/ropetrick.htm

Area effects can not cross it.

Though I wouldn't consider water an area effect, so I would say that if the area with the rope trick in it was flooded the rope trick would also fill with water
