BEFORE WE GET STARTED: This topic, for some inscrutable reason, seems to move into religion fairly often. I needn't remind everyone that the board rules forbid religious discussion; let's just try to keep it on topic.

So, how much would having one global currency expedite trade? Would it have a generally positive effect on the various economies tied to it?

It sounds like a good idea, but I'm not sure if it would realistically work in this day and age. Though, on the other hand, it might lead to speicialision of commerce for certain countries... like China becomes the sole maker of electronics, and America becomes the sole farming nation... but I still don't think it would work that well.

It's an interesting concept though.

I don't think it needs to be linked with religion, as it is intrinsically political, what with individual national currencies being a sovereign right and all.

Its an likely eventual change that will benefit those that have the resources to benefit from it and hurt many others.

Examine the arguments for the UK adopting the Euro vs. staying with the Pound Sterling.

Or back before Germany switched over, I believe they were the last holdover in the switching over to the Euro.

Pretty much those just on a larger scale.

The Rainbow Mod: The nature of this topic is really political, so I am closing it now before things get out of control.
