Silverthorn III

a.k.a. The Silverthorn (Amiria's Tower)

How it all began: The first thread (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18167)

Continuing the madness: The second thread (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17877)

The not so humble abode of
Lady Amiria Eleonore of Irvin,
Baroness of Silverthorn and Oakenford,
Daughter of Count Harrodin of Irvin,
Foundress of the Silverthorn Institute for Arcane Studies (SIAS)

http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j179/Kotzgeist/female12.gif
This approximately 360' tall tower usually floats above the town's lake - currently the tower has lowered itself onto the water surface of the lake - and has a big rock attached to its base which holds the foundations and the cellar levels. It is a tall, slender, silvery-white structure that gets narrower to the top. A landing platform is near the gate.

This is Amiria's home and most parts aren't open to the general public. It houses an extensive library (mainly arcane, specialized in transmutation magic) and magical and alchemical labs. Only people of good reputation and friends of Amiria can expect to get admittance. The library is open to the public.

It can fly, teleport and plane-shift and could be used for expeditions to faraway places and planes, again probably only for a steep fee, unless Amiria takes personal interest.

The (at least) 2 cellar levels, ground level and 27 floors are divided into four sections:

1) The cellar levels with the usual stuff that belongs there, you know: dungeons, torture chambers, doomsday devices, a superheroine's secret hideout ... ;)

2) The ground floor and the lower floors with the kitchen, dining hall, ballroom and most of the servant's quarters

3) The middle floors with the museum, laboratories, a shrine, an auditorium, libraries, more servant's quarters, and guest quarters

4) The upper floors with Amiria's private quarters

Floor Plan

2nd Basement: dungeon, summoning room, storage
1st Basement: armory, storage, vault, wine cellar
Ground Floor: entry hall, bronze guard post, office
1st Floor: servant's dining hall, kitchen

Blood simply appears at the doorstep, and makes a loud mewling noise, trying to get someone's attention.

*Kint catches the pillow, holds it high in the air and yells* BY THE POWER OF SILVERTHORN, I HAVE THE POWER!! *sadly, this leaves him open to Amiria's charge. Ala just giggles at her brother.*

Amiria
2006-09-08, 06:54 PM
The door opens and a large and very strange creature (http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j179/Kotzgeist/Other/Nyarly.gif) looms above Blood. "Yes, what is it ?", it asks with a rasping, resonating voice.

[hr]
Amiria tackles Kint and tries to trip him. "No, you are powerless here in my domain. Bwhahahaha !"

Blood

Blood looks confused, and she has a small pouch strapped around her stomach. I asked Amiria to custom-make some armor for me. Is it finished?

Yelp! *Kint hollers as he starts to fall down. He tries to grab hold of Amiria and take her down too.*

Go Teela! *shouts the elven girl as she rushes to protect He-man with her pillow*

"Armor ? For a cat ?" The creature giggles, a very strange and rather disturbing sound. "Uh, yeah, the armor, right. It must be here somewhere." The creatures closes the door again to a gap and fiddles behind his back. "Here it is." It holds forth a leathery armor, apparently well-made, of a greenish-brown color. "I hope you are content with it. Did I forget something ? Ah yes, the renumeration please."

[hr]
Amiria shrieks and also falls to the ground but she manages to avoid being grabbed by Kint. She gropes around for a pillow but there is none within reach.

Blood
2006-09-08, 07:07 PM
She grimaces when he laughs. It's not like I'm going to wear it all the time... just because it's a bit undignified doesn't mean I can't take safety precautions. The cat flicks her tail, and then slips the pouch from around her. Blood then pushes the pouch towards the creature, nodding, then closes her eyes and is gone.

((The pouch has 15 gold pieces in it.))

"He-Man" and "Teela" swarm their defenseless foe, thwacking with fluffy blows of doom. ;D

Amiria
2006-09-08, 07:16 PM
The creature takes the pouch, opens a rift in space and steps through it. Its strange giggling can be herard again as it vanishes.

((You might want to ask Ceika for an armored Cthulhu-Cat avatar now. ;) Llama already has experience with this. ;D))

[hr]
Amiria tries to avoid the blows but there are to many. "Mercy, I yield. What are your terms ?"

*This stops the kids and they look at each other. Simutamiously they yell.*
Ice cream!
Ice cream
(I don't remember how to spell that word)

(and yes, it was a tragic day in stabbity death when Amiria did that.)

Amiria
2006-09-08, 07:32 PM
"Oh no, not my ice cream. Well, I have no choice.", says the childish Amiria glumly and rises. "Follow me then." She plods up through the tower to her private quarters and into the living room. There is a magic fridge with an even more magic freezer compartment. "I have chocolate, raspberry and stracciatella. It is now all yours", she says with a mock sigh.

Atreyu the Masked LLama
2006-09-08, 07:36 PM
( I need to run. Cookout at church. yay!)

*Ala goes for the chocolate, but Kint wants to try stracciatella.* What's in stracciatella?

Amiria
2006-09-08, 07:41 PM
"Oh, do you also wan to know all my secrets ? Stracciatella is vanilla with chocolate shavings."

Gloria turns and walks out of the lab. "Yes, follow me. Now we are going to the library."

From the 12th floor it goes up to the 14th floor where you enter the lowest level of the four-story library.

The library is impressive. A large round room with a grey marble floor with tessellations of mystical glyphs. Many books are on skillfully carved mahogany shelfs. A soft blue light and something like a light mist fills the room. The levitation shaft leads further up but here are also two spiral staircases.

An old man in a wizard's robe sits behind a big desk and reads a manga. He looks up and nods to you and Gloria but then continues reading.

"This is the library. You can find books on many subjects here. The speciality is of course transmutation magic, but also knowledge about fiends and undead. Most of the history and geography sections is about our home plane but you can also find books about the town and its surroundings."

Rilik approaches the Tower, sipping his Archon Ale and looking odd with his cloaks displacement effect.

Hellooooooo!

(( It might take a while until I'm back online... ))

Amiria
2006-09-12, 07:40 AM
The strange large purple creature (http://s80.photobucket.com/albums/j179/Kotzgeist/Other/th_Nyarly.gif) opens the door to the tower and looks down on you. "What ?", it asks in its eerie voice. It has a bucket with some weird pink stuff in his hand. The stuff seems to be alive but he eats it.

Flabbicus

Er, hi. How much does it cost to have a look at the library?

Amiria
2006-09-12, 04:32 PM
"Just a look is usually free but if you want to do some research is it 100 gp.", says the creature and steps aside.

Flabbicus
2006-09-12, 05:37 PM
Thanks.

He hands a copper piece to the elder god bellboy and heads towards the library, following a not entirely Euclidean path.

Amiria
2006-09-12, 05:52 PM
Behind you Nyarly steps through a rift in space and is gone. You arrive at the lowest level of the library on the 14th floor after changing the levitation shaft once.

Counnanh the Old sits behind the big desk and still reads his manga.

Flabbicus
2006-09-12, 05:55 PM
Rilik approaches the crotchety old man, slowly. He tries not to startle him, lest he be zapped by arcane energy.

Is this the right place for studying tomes?

Amiria
2006-09-12, 06:04 PM
Counnanh the Old (http://www.giantitp.com/mb/YaBBImages/avatars/OldWizardGuy.gif) looks up and closes the manga. "Tomes ! We have countless tomes. Yeah, you are in the right place. Throw 100gp in that box over there by the wall and go exploring. Copying information or spells costs extra."

Flabbicus
2006-09-12, 06:09 PM
Rilik digs through his handy dandy Bag of Holding and dumps out a large pile of gold coins into the box, easily enough to cover the entrance fee.

He steps into the library and starts looking for the section on fiends.

Amiria
2006-09-12, 06:15 PM
The section on fiends in this library is especially extensive and rich. Everything is ordered in the Dewey Decimal System.

Rilik examines the books, looking for the Encyclopedia Yugolothia or How to exploit Yugoloth's natural weaknesses.

Amiria
2006-09-12, 06:55 PM
You find both ? of the books here. Sadly it seems that the Yugoloth don't have any really exploitable weaknesses. They are immune against poison and acid and resistant against all other energy types except sonic. Unlike demons and devils it doesn't require a weapon of a special material to harm them but the weapon must be good-aligned. Different Yugoloth might have additional resistances.

Satisfied with what little knowledge he garnered from the books he flips through the last pages and puts the books back in their proper places.

He heads out of the library and to the elevator-like-things, and then walks towards the tower's exit.

He is escorted by Death, who seems to be wearing a lovely shade of Lightish Red today and comments on how Death's robe is most definately Pink.

The childish Amiria jumps down from the couch. "Hey, how about calling a Wuslum ? I had one as a pet some years ago. We'd have to go to the Conjuring Room in the cellar."

*the kids jump excitedly*

What its like? Is it fluffy?

I don't care if its fluffy. It sounds exciting. Let's go.

*Kint starts heading to the door, quickly.*

Amiria, are you sure this is safe? *says Ala with a slightly worried look.*

Amiria
2006-09-13, 02:17 PM
"Yes, Wuslums are very fluffy and not dangerous at all. Come, lets go." Amiria bounces down through the tower, alternating between stairs and levitation shafts. They arrive in the dark Summoning Room in the cellar and Amiria speaks a word of power to illuminate it.

*Kint's eyes grow wide as the lights magically turn on, he tries to hide how impressed he is because his sisters yelp of suprised joy embarrasses him. She almost tugging Lil Amiria to the middle of the room. "Come on, come on. I wanna seeeeeee."

*Kint does look around, keeping an eye out for things in the corners.*
"I think it was here where that ghost thing tried to get us? Gloria scared it away."

Trog
2006-09-13, 03:54 PM
Trog arrives at the tower gripping his umbrella of flying. He sets down lightly on a balcony ledge.

Is uh... Amiria here? Trog hasn't been by in a while and just wanted to stop by and see if everything's okay and such.

Puffs cigarette.

Amiria
2006-09-13, 04:27 PM
"Ok, ok. Wait a minute. I need some things before. we start. So, I heard everything about this ghost. Hmm, but it never returned so let's hope it is gone for good." Lil' Amiria walks to a closet, unlocks it and rummages a bit in it. She returns with some candles and powerds to the engraved summoning circle. Amiria places the candles around the perimeter and lightens them and then disperses the powders here and there in the circle.

"Ok, everyone out of the circle !". The diminutive archmage begins chanting an arcane formula and suddenly the shape of a small animal begins to form in the circle. With a *pop* it transcends the boundaries between the planes and is completely in the circle.

The Wuslum is a bit like a cross between a rabbit and a gerbil. It is incredibly fluffy and looks like a small grey hairy ball with big green eyes, big feet and a long prehesive tail. It jumps around in the circle and stares at the children.

[hr]
Another expendable ;) guard opens the door. "Oh, yes, the Lady is here. I saw her going doen into the cellar with Ala and Kint half an hour ago."

Trog
2006-09-13, 04:39 PM
Oh? The cellar you say. Thank you.

Trog heads for the levitation shafts. Then stops and turns.

You know. You really ought to invest in better armor. Trog doesn't know why but you strike Trog as... well... an easy kill, somehow. Take care of that. That's a good man.

Trog descends into the cellar and looks around. Up ahead he spies the summoning room and a group of kids.

Hey you kids. Any one of you tykes seen Amiria? Trog's looking for her.

Puffs cigarette.

Amiria
2006-09-13, 04:57 PM
The little girl in the red robe with the pointy hat whirls around. "Hey, Trog !" She sprints towards him and jumps into his arms. "Oh, you are finally back ! I missed you so !" This is definetely Amiria, but she appears to be 5 or 6 years old.

Trog
2006-09-13, 05:17 PM
Uh... Hey... there... you...look a lot younger than Trog remembered. Um. Trog missed you too. Um. Uh.

Man this is awkward.

Trog sorta was coming over to say. Um... that.... maybe... Maybe this... isn't gonna work out... between us.

Cause Trog is... well... has been... a horrible person, Amiria. Trog has had impure thoughts. And has acted on those many times. And Trog was under the influence of various magics and such. But it doesn't excuse Trog for what Trog has done. And well...

You really deserve better.

So Trog is sorry for being a lecherous old... thingy. And that Trog hopes you don't have any... hard feelings... about all this. And stuff.

Trog looks down at his feet as he says all this, his arm hanging limply by his sides.

Amiria
2006-09-13, 05:30 PM
Lil' Amiria falls on her bum since Trog's arms hang limply by his sides. "Uff !" She stands up, dismisses the transmutation and turns into her adult self again. She turns to the kids. "Hey, have fun with the Wuslum. Don't pull its tail. he doesn't like that."

She pushes Trog out of the room and follows, closing the door behind her. Amiria looks him straight in the eyes. "Why my love, what is this talk ? What where these impure thoughts and magic influences. I only heard a rumor once and I know that Dionysos somehow controlled you for a time. Is this right ? Please tell me." Despite her calm facade she seems to be quite concerned about Trog's words. Her countenance fluctuates between joy and sorrow.

Trog
2006-09-13, 11:01 PM
((Damnit! I could have sworn that I posted a nice long reply to this. But apparently not. And now it is gone into the ether somewhere. Crapola. So now, in order to free up Trog, I need to have him end this suddenly. On top of the fact that I just can't remember al the good stuff I packed that long post with earlier. Not how I wanted it to go but I have no choice now. Grrrr.))

Dionysus never controlled Trog. All he did was lend Trog a boost to his own libido. Through the medallion. Trog had total control over his actions. And on top of that the medallion also magnified Trog's pheremones. So women were throwing themselves at Trog.

And Trog took them all.

Trog's sorry Amiria... but you deserve much better.

And Trog thinks that it is best to not involve himself with women for a while until Trog can sort this all out in Trog's head.

So. It's over.

Trog gives her a quick hug and departs without looking back.

*unaware of the tragic scene going on outside, the kids play with the Wuslum. Kint is a little concerned that the lizard thing looked like the ghost, but it wasn't a ghost and Amira was happy to see it.
Ala is very concerned that she can't figure out what she should name the uber-fluffy creature she's playing with.*

"But ..." Amiria stares hard after Trog as he walks away. Please, turn around. Then she hangs her head and stares at her fingers. Finally she turns to thh door and opens it again. "Hey kids,", she says solemn, "Please take the Wuslum up to your room. I have some things to do now." She walks up through the tower and disappears in her private quarters.

A small elf follows a stream to its end, the lake where Silverthorn currently rests. Catching sight of the ferryman, she flags him down politely. Then she realises who he is.

Though slightly overawed by his presence, she tries to engage him in a little conversation on the way across, asking about the tower's purpose and owner.

Soon she is safely perched on the rocky platform at the base of the tower. She knocks at the door.

"Hmm, yes, there are quite some postions open in the tower.", says the guard. "The mistress is here, I believe. Though one can never be sure since she often justs teleports or plane shifts around. For which position do you want an interview ?"

ingenua
2006-09-16, 08:59 AM
"Ahh, I see. Well, I have several trades ... I'm good with plants, and I'm sure a residence this large must have a conservatorium in need of tending? Or do you think she might need a companion, a lady's maid?"
Ingenua puts a little more emphasis on this last suggestion.

Amiria

"A conservatory ? No, we don't have such a thing here, although there are quite some plants throughout the tower and also in the alchemical lab. Back on our home plane in Silverthorn, there is a conservatory as one of the tower's adjoining buildings", says the guard.

"I don't think that Amiria wants a lady's maid. She is much to independent for such things. Well, just ask her about a position. Go up that levitation shaft to the Silver Guard Post and then change into the next one to the Gold Guard Post. Amiria's study is one level above that."

Trog stumbles in drunk and finds Amiria and grabs her and kisses her passionately.

Trog id sooo sorree, Amiria.

Trog almost died and all Trog could thingk aboud was you.

He hugs her fiercely

Trog's been a fool. A damn, damn fool.

He sits down heavily on a nearby upholstered chair and passes out.

((goodnight all))

Amiria
2006-09-19, 12:24 PM
Amiria is flabbergasted by Trog's unexpected return. There she has been flying for days on her broom through the blizzard allthewhile giggling psychotically - a supposedly foolproof method to get over somebody, or so had Wanda the witch told her - and now he was here again in her living room as a picture of misery.

She creates a Tenser's Floating Disc and heaves the unconscious drunkard into it. Then she walks with the disc to her bedroom and tilts Trog into the fluffy four-poster bed. "Yarrrr, we'll see what you talk tomorrow when you are sober. You damn fool.", she murmurs and tucks him up. Amiria bows, carresses his cheek and kiises him on the forehead. "Good night." Then she leaves and walks back to the living room.

Trog

Trog awakens the next morning. He stirs for a moment then holds his throbbing head with one scaly hand.

Uggghh. Where is Trog?

He opens his eyes and looks around. Then sits bolt upright in the bed, wide awake.

Oh no. Thad's right. Trog rebembers shubbeling.. an fighting.. and... uhg...drinking. And then...

Oh. Oh yeah. Thed Trog cabe ubb to na dower.

Oh ban... Trog bust habb sounded like sumb sord ubb basket case *sniff*

"This stuff should help you with your hangover. Beware, some of my senior alchemy students have concocted it. It tastes like sleeping feet. Do you also have a cold ?"

Trog
2006-09-19, 01:41 PM

Amiria rises and walks towards Trog. Then she hugs him tightly and whispers in his ear. "It's ok, I believe you. I heard what you've been through lately. I can't really imaginine how you suffered but it must have been horrible. It is all good, just stay with me now and we make a new beginning. I still love you."

She steps back and looks at him with a smile. "Now no kissing, people with a cold just taste horrible. We'll get a cure for this, follow me." Amiria leads Trog down through the tower into the ballroom. There is a big man (http://s80.photobucket.com/albums/j179/Kotzgeist/th_amiriawariordone.gif) (6' 1") in a midnight blue full plate who makes exercises with a bastard sword.

Amiria grins. "No, you fool ! Hey, Turin, this is Trog, he has a bad cold. Can you cure him, please ?"

The knight gives Trog a taxing look for some seconds but then he nods. "Hmm, this is Trog then. Well, of course I will heal him." He moves to Trog and puts the palm of his spiked gauntlet on Trog's forehead and shouts "Be cured from all maladies !" Turin simultaneously shoves Trog suddenly backwards with a flick of his shoulder.

Trog regards the warrior with a little trepidation.

Thinks: Sheesh. Look at the size of this guy! Does he live here?! Good lord. He's got almost a foot on Trog. And muscular to boot. Better keep an eye on him. Looks like potential trouble on the romatic front. How did Amiria know he was down here?

Bet she watches him workout. Bet she thinks he's got a good body and stuff. Better than you for sure.

Shut up. Why do you think things like that? Man she just took you back and already you're makin' with the jealous paranoia?! Settle down. Oh. He's talking. Yeah buddy I'm Trog. Seems to know that name. Bet he's upset I came back.

Gah! He's Attacking!

No you idiot it's a spell or somethi...

Trog falls backwards on his butt, having thoroughly distracted himself with his inner monologue.

Trog scowls for just a brief flash, then gets to his feet.

Hey thanks! Trog feels much better.

Jackass!

Whoa! Is that the time? Trog was supposed to be at work. Cosmo has off tonight.

Trog makes a show of smootching Amiria in front of Mr. muscles. Rubbing her nose with his he whispers: Stop over later if you'd like!

With a smile and a lingering glance behind he heads out the door and takes Death's Ferry all the way back to shore. Death is not the only one grinning all the way.

Amiria
2006-09-19, 08:16 PM
Amiria smiles. "Hmm, I Could, but I doubt that I will. I need some sleep soon. Bye Trog."

After he left she turns to her big brother. "Now, what do you think of him ? Come on, I know there is something."

Turin scratches his stubby chin. "No, its fine. If he makes you happy. I don't judge people by their looks and you said that he is really a cursed Satyr. But there are these stories that he is too much in wine and women and ..."

"Ah, shut up. I'm the only one for him. And I'll teach him that booze is no way to deal with problems. Could be a bit difficult since he is living in a tavern ..."

"If you say so. But if he hurts your feelings again I will smite him."

Kyrian follows the falcon.

Amiria
2006-09-22, 05:57 PM

The room is a spacious but cozy living room, richly decorated with furniture and objects of arts. Mairia sits on a big lounge with her crystal ball in front of her on a small table. A beam from the craystal ball projects a moving picture onto a canvas. It seems to be a samurai movie.

Amria munches popcorn and sips some green liquid. "Hey hi ! What's up ?"

Kyrian
2006-09-22, 06:06 PM
No thanks. Yes, I've changed...I ended up facing my past evils, and sacrificing my life for the people I've come to love in this town.

Anyways, I came to ask if you could appraise and let me know what the magical properties of several items are?

Amiria

Two Gloves of Taarnahm the Vigilant.

One pair of Gauntlets of the Claw (Claws of the Beast at will, 4d6 damage)

Amiria
2006-10-01, 02:09 PM
The library is impressive. A large round room with a grey marble floor with tessellations of mystical glyphs. Many books are on skillfully carved mahogany shelfs. A soft blue light and something like a light mist fills the room. The levitation shaft leads further up but here are also two spiral staircases.

An old man in a wizard's robe sits behind a big desk and reads a manga. He looks up and closes the book. "Hello, do you seek knowledge ? It has a price, 100 gp. Copying lore and spells costs extra."

Val nods to the librarian in a kind of polite half-bow, and approahces the desk. I'm searching for any information you may have regarding this town's history and geography, and anything you may have on travelling between worlds.

He pauses when the money issue comes up, and stares down at his gauntlets, which are glowing faintly with an unusual dark-blue light.do I do it? he thinks. It isn't like paying off my tab - this will help get back home, if it works properly...

He looks up, and holds and arm out over the counter. He turns his palm downwards, so that it faces the surface of the table, and concentrates.

The eerie glow around the gauntlet grows brighter, and the air beneath it glows the same blue colour. He closes his hand into a fist, and roughly 300gp appear on the desk. that should hopefully be enough. he says.

Upon entering the library Counanh the Old demands a fee 100 gp from you. You find only a few books and essays for time travel, most of it rather sketchy and without great detail. All written stuff says that time travel is very dangerous. You also find many references to the College of Planeshifters and Chronomancers in the city of Northgate on Amiria's home plane. The note is torn down and read by Gloria who disappears with it in the tower.

Some hours later Amiria leaves the tower on her Vhroom of Flying.

A rowboat thumps up to the tower's landing; Kint and Ala leap out and run up to the doors as Alarra steps out, followed by El J.

"This rowing business is harder work than I remember...I should really give Lothren a raise."

The kids run up to the door and knock enthusiastically.

Trick or treat!

Gloria peers out, Werefoxes? Do we allow werefoxes in this tower?"

It's us! Ala squeels, bouncing.

Oh you, is it? Well, I haven't seen you kids in awhile...best come in. I'm sure Amiria has some candy or something around here for you.

So you are.....very impressive.

Gloria glances around and sees that there are in fact small packets of chocolates and cookies made up precisely for this purpose. Here we are

Of course it is. It's from Amiria, silly
Thanks Gloria!

I bet they give you magic powers or something.

Graklok is soon seen headed for the shore. In his hand he's carrying a small package of brown parchment wrapped with twine. He gets to the shore, dips his toe into the water, smiles agreeably, and walks in. He beings rubbing the package along his skin, and after a few moments of rubbing, the brown wet parchment begins to peel away and underneath is a bar of soap. When it begins to foam, Graklok looks at it quizically for a moments. He takes his finger and puts some of the suds into his mouth, followed immediately by spitting them back out. Ugh, taste bad!
He sniffs the soap, and agreeable with the scent, he continues with washing himself off. Layers of dirt appear to just scrub right off of him. After awhile he sniff himself, and liking the new smell, he gets out of the water. He turns and shouts up to the castle. TANKS PERDY RED LADY! Graklok turns around and leaves.

A servant receives a message saying the following.

"Dear Lady Amiria Eleonore of Irvin,
I am in need of your services. I have a particular gem which I need to be turned into an amulet for my own particular reasons, and other jewellers have so far refused to accept the job. This is because the gem is not officially mine. It once belonged to my master, mentor, and beloved friend, but when he was murdered most brutally, the gem was taken as well. I have managed to regain this stone of great sentimental value, but now that it is considered stolen goods, I have not been able to have it modified so that I may wear it. I tell you this so that our relationship shall begin with honesty, and now I ask for a moment more of your time so that you may meet me to discuss this matter.

Sincerely yours,
Erdan Sar'Doc

PS: I work at Trog's but you may also leave a message at Bulzar's Brews and Ales for me."

Flying through the air holding his umbrella of flying, Clovis alights on an open windowsill of the observatory. His skin is a dull ashen grey and his eyes burn like two embers. Combined with his satyr horns and cloven hooves he looks downright demonic*. Spying his love entranced by the stars, her eye to the telescope, he smiles, hops off the sill, and crosses the room as quickly and as quietly as smoke on the breeze. And in her ear a voice reminiscent of a certain raspy Sith lord says:

Happy birthday, my love. I baked you a cake.

Clovis sets the chocolate cake down on a table. on it in pink frosting are the words

Happy Birthday Amiria

It's surrounded by pink flowers made of frosting.

*Clovis recently was turned into the Demi-God of Tobacco Smoke, though he is unaware of his demi-god status. Though he is a bit freaked out by his own appearance. See the Temple of Inari's previous thread and the Tavern for details.

Amiria
2006-12-10, 02:34 PM
Amiria darts at the voice behind her and jumps from Trog and the cake as she turns around. "Aaaaaah ! Who ? ... oh, it is you ?! Uh, hey Clovis. You look different today ... did the wish have some unforseen side effects ?" Her eyes wander to the cake. "For me ? Oh thanks ? Thank you very much for coming. It looks delicious."

Trog
2006-12-10, 03:39 PM
No. I don't think it was the wish. For some reason...

I think it has to do with Thes... Somehow. I haven't quite put it together. Either way I look a fright now. Ever since I woke up in the Temple of Inari. *cough*koff*

Excuse me. I haven't been able to stop chain smoking since yesterday for some reason. I get *cough*KOFFA-KOFFAKOFF-AKAAAACK*cough*cough*

I get *gasp* like this.

*lights a cigarette as he massages his chest with a pained expression on his face. After a couple of puffs the coughing fit seems to pass. He guestures to the cake while inhaling*

Made that myself. So if it's horrible you don't have to eat it if you don't want. I'm not much of a cook.

Amiria goes with Trog and the cake down to her living room and cuts the latter into pieces with an ornate sacrificial dagger, probably pilfered from the temple of some evil cultists. An unseen servant gest some plates and cake forks, cups and spoons, coffee and milk. The young archmage tastes a piece of the cake.

"Hmmm ... hmmm, it tastes good. Really, I tell you no lie. I have to confess that I've eaten better cake1, but I like it, and the more because you made it. Here, take a piece."

Some days later, Trog is long gone

Amiria arrives with Erdan in her cozy living room and sits down in a comfy chair. "So, where were we ? Do you want something to drink ?"

Admiral One
2006-12-13, 04:18 PM
Erdan falls to the ground, then promptly stands up.

"Um, do you have any good wine?"

Amiria
2006-12-13, 04:21 PM
"Yes, everything. White and red. Elven wines and human wines and halfling wines. What's your poison ?"

Admiral One
2006-12-13, 04:26 PM
"Anything is good, thank you. I am more used to human wines though."

Amiria
2006-12-13, 04:31 PM
"Yup" Amiria stands up and walks to a tempered wine cabinet. She returns with a bottle of a 4 years old Cabernet Syrah and gets two glasses. "Can you open it ?", she asks.

"Now, I think iIwill help you with that object of yours."

Admiral One
2006-12-13, 04:35 PM
Erdan nods, pulls out the cork easily and begins pouring the wine in the glasses before him.

"Really? Excellent. I have tried keeping it on a hemp string but it is begining to fray. Did you have an idea for anything special...?"

Amiria
2006-12-13, 04:41 PM
"What ? For the mundane part ? Uh, no, not really. Show it to me again please.", says Amiria, raises her glass and swivels the liquid a bit.

Admiral One
2006-12-13, 04:50 PM
Erdan reaches into this cloak and pulls out a red jewel with a black symbol on it.

http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o284/Admiral_One/amulet_close.jpg

It has been turned into an amulet with some rope, but most of it has frayed away.

Amiria
2006-12-13, 04:54 PM
"Marvellous ! Hmm, silver or gold ? Or something else. Do you have an own idea for the style ?", asks Amiria. "And what for the magic part ?" Amiria clinks glasses with Erdan and takes a sip.

Admiral One
2006-12-13, 05:01 PM
Erdan also takes a sip of his wine, but not before pouring a vial of clear liquid into it.

"Just a cure for my hangover. Well, I had thought up a very simple design, but feel free to play with it all you want. The metal used is not too serious, but something sturdy is preferable."

He casts a small illusion over on the gem.

http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o284/Admiral_One/amulet.jpg

Amiria
2006-12-13, 05:06 PM
"So, something simple and sturdy, no filigree ... mithral would be good, I think.", mumbles Amiria.

Admiral One
2006-12-13, 05:12 PM
"Mithral is a good choice...another thing - if the design does not work, just make sure that it involves a viper of sort. It was my mentor's personal symbol and I want to ensure it is used."

Amiria
2006-12-13, 05:16 PM
"Ok, I already have an idea for this. It is already magical, but you want something more, right ?"

Admiral One
2006-12-13, 05:24 PM
Erdan begins stroking his goatee.

"Well, I'm not too sure. Ever since I've been wearing it, my sense seem to to be slightly sharper, even enhanced well beyond what they should be. Is there some way to add something to it without harming any existing enchantments?"

Amiria
2006-12-13, 05:28 PM
"I'm sure that this should be possible. I'll analyze the enchantments on the gem. Once I know what they are I can add other enchantments without any danger.", says Amiria. "So, how are your senses sharper ? All 5 senses ? Do you think that you can see invisible things while wearing the gem ?" The young archmage takes another sip from the wine and leans back in the comfy chair.

Admiral One
2006-12-13, 05:38 PM
"Well, I do not know if it is all of the senses that are improved, but I almost feel like my 6th sense has been changed. I can sometimes hear telepathic comunication that I don't think I should be hearing and have avoided several disasters simply with my instincts rather than actual reflexes. I wonder if it is the stone or rather something else that has happened since..."

He trails off and then looks up suddenly. His hangover seems to have passed. He passes his hand over his leather armour and it changes into robes more appropriate for the setting.

"Sorry."

Amiria
2006-12-13, 05:48 PM
"Interesting. So, do you entrust me the gem for some days ? I must analyze its enchantments and then add whatever you want ... if it is within my powers ... I can't enchant it with magic from the schools of Enchantment and Necromancy. What do you want as additional enchantments ?"

Admiral One
2006-12-14, 04:48 PM
"Sure, you can have it for a while. I trust you enough for that. As for the actual enchantment, I am not really sure what to put on it, but it should probably something else to improve my combat. Something with invisibility maybe?"

Amiria
2006-12-14, 04:56 PM
"Improved Invisibility a couple of times per day ? Can be quite effective in a fight ... but some creatures don't need their eyes to sense you or they aren't fooled by illusions. Though it would be still a good choice ..."

Admiral One
2006-12-14, 04:58 PM
"Yes, I suspect I will be fighting mainly humanoids for a while. Is there anything you would suggest? Some enchantment I may be unaware of?"

Amiria
2006-12-14, 05:26 PM
"Hmm, Blink is also good, you are not unseen but still have most advantages of Invisibility in a fight. And those who can ignore illusions can't ignore the half-ethereal state of blinking. Of course, this may also hinder you a bit. There is also Improved Blink without that disadvantage but more expensive."

Admiral One
2006-12-14, 05:35 PM
"Expensive in terms of coin? Because I have enough to pay for it. Speaking of which, here."

He pulls out a scroll that, once unraveled, reveal strange symbols along it. There are two lines at the bottom, one of which has Erdan's signature on it.

"This will allow you to get whatever your price is from my crew if I am unavailable. My ship is currently on the beach. All you have to do is sign it."

Amiria
2006-12-14, 05:44 PM
"So, what's your choice then ? Improved Blink ? How often a day would you like to be able to do it ?" Amiria looks at the scroll and tries to read it.

Admiral One
2006-12-14, 05:49 PM
Erdan nods.

"Improved blink sounds good. Depending on how long it lasts, I dont think I should have to cast it too often, my style of fight usually lasts no more than half an hour at them most."

She is incapable of deciphering the writing, but it seems to be writen top-bottom and with a brush.

((kinda looks like a cross between oriental and greek writing. I guess you have to leave soon, huh?))

"Ok." Amiria casts Comprehend Languages to decypher the scroll.

((just got home (5:50), so I'll be posting whenever I see that you replied.)))

The scroll's language has a grammar that is both complex in some areas and simple in others, making it hard to understand. Despite this, it is obviously a document which gives the owner of it a share of the loot from expeditions above the Black Viper. It is written in diction similar to an epic poem.

((k, its been a long time since you last posted and the conversation is essentially done, so whatever))

Erdan realizes that he needs to leave and rushes out while excusing himself repeatedly.

Regiji materializes at the base of Silverthorn tower. Oddly enough, any wards or divinations designed to notice or even halt teleportation pay little heed to Regiji's entrance on the scene.

Shifting sequence successful. The array is recharging now.

"Well what do you know, I didn't even get dropped on my face this time," Regiji states with mock astonishment. He eyes the tower door, then cranes his neck back to get a better view of the structure as a whole. "I guess I just knock then?"

That would appear to be the case.

Regiji pounds on the massive doors, hoping that someone is presently tending to the monolithic building.

Amiria
2006-12-20, 03:55 PM
Gloria the Guard (http://www.giantitp.com/avatars/RedKnightGirl.gif) opens the door. "Hullo. What can we do for you ?"

Rebonack
2006-12-20, 04:18 PM
"Oh, hi there!" Regiji says rather politely. "I was directed over here by the nice fellow who runs the Town Library, he said that there's a copy of The Manual of the Planes here. Incidentally, I'm doing some research and it would be a vital asset."

He looks back and forth, then up the tower again.

"Is that all right? Or do I need an appointment or something?"

Amiria
2006-12-20, 04:29 PM
"Well, if the town library said we have this book then we have it. Probybly even more then one copy. The planes and extraplanar creatures are a speciality of Amiria. Just come in, i'll show you the way to the library". Gloria leads you through a manificient marble entry hall, adorned with some pillars and statues to a levitation shaft. Up it goes and after you change the shaft at a guard post you arrive in the library. A soft white-blue mist illuminates it.

"You must pay a 100 gp entrance fee. Copying things cost extra. Put the money in the mafic box over there. The indexes are over there. If you have questions ask at the desk." Gloria leaves. The library covers four floors, connected by spiral staircases and levitation shafts. There is a reception desk and behind it sits a grumpy old man in a grey robe who reads a manga.

2006-12-20, 04:53 PM
Regiji follows Gloria into the hall, admiring in the exquisite stonework as he walks.

"Do wizards always make spectacular towers like these?"

Usually. Our sources indicate that adventuring can yield incredible amounts of wealth. They have to do something with it, and most of the time they don't opt to use it to help the impoverished.

"Seems kind of unnecessary, but at least it looks nice. Better than that other floating tower in town."

One hundred gold pieces, or ten platinum. We're supposed to put it in that box before we begin searching.

"What's the point of charging one hundred gold when you have millions in wealth?" Regiji seems to ask no one in particular as he fishes around in his backpack, extracting ten platinum coins and dropping them in the box. "Besides, can't they just transmute stuff?"

Apparently, transmuting other materials into gold is difficult, if not impossible.

"Well, why not transmute stuff into salt then, is that possible? Isn't that worth a lot here?"

I believe it is. Perhaps that get rich quick scheme hasn't occurred to anyone.

"Hmmm."

"I guess I'll just look around."

I'm glad you're actually going to spend some time in here, it will be a very positive experience. Much better than just using a data probe and calling it a day.

"And by 'look around' I mean using a data probe and calling it a day," Regiji begins fumbling around in his backpack again.

*sigh* You're really hopeless, you know that right?

"I don't feel like bothering with the index, and that old fellow behind the desk looks busy Ah! There it is"

Regiji extracts a smallish ball from his backpack and 'sets' it in the air. Gravity has apparently been paid off to overlook this infraction.

"I need to find a book called the Manuel of the Planes."

One side of the ball splits open, a thin, vertical, triangular emanation of soft blue light snaps into view as the orb begins to slowly rotate, scanning across the rows of shelves.

"That shouldn't take too long."

You're such a kill-joy sometimes Regiji. At least actually read the books once the probe finds what you're looking for.

"Fine. I'll read the book like some sort of savage that can't just upload the information," Regiji responds to apparently no one, throwing his hands up in the air in exasperation.

Amiria
2006-12-20, 05:12 PM
Your ball locates the book on the third floor of the library. There are three copies.

Rebonack
2006-12-20, 05:56 PM
*ping!*

"Ah good, it's done," Regiji snags the probe out of mid air and stuffs it into his pack, then proceeds to make his way to the third floor. After some fumbling about he manages to find the book's exact location, pulling the sizable tome from the shelf that houses it. Regiji leans back and proceeds to 'sit' cross-legged in mid-air. Meanwhile, gravity is too busy insuring that a child's ice cream splatters quite satisfactorily on the pavement after slipping off its cone to notice.

He opens the book and begins glancing through the contents.

"Hmmm... positive energy plane, positive energy plane... Here it is."

Regiji begins reading the information regarding the plane's nature, inhabitance, and what happens when someone stays there too long.

Death by life, ouch.

"No kidding..."

"Well, if this is to be believed then this place is basically the source of positive energy, which appears to be their name for bio-etheric energy. And it looks like it supplies this stuff to, well, everywhere in the realm that needs it." Regiji closes the book and places it back on the shelf then proceeds to lean his chin on his elbow.

"Then that means any world in this realm is off limits for a bio-etheric energy tap, which means we make our report and continue with our original mission parameters."

Pretty much. And here I had hoped we had found something worth while.

"There are still plenty of other uses we can get out of this place, it just means shifting in an armada and stomping them into submission isn't a viable option," Regiji says, then adds almost as an afterthought. "Besides, I'm sure the people here will like us a lot more since we aren't going to conquer them. I prefer setting up through trade more than military action anyway. Less people get nulled' that way."

Here you are, the core consciousness of the most ridiculously powerful weapons platforms the Shepherds have ever created, and you're a dove. That's hilarious.

"I'm sure that the Shepherds, in their infinite wisdom, chose to make me like this so I would be more discriminating about what I blow up."

Regiji makes his way back down to the first floor of the tower, still speaking with the voice in his head.

"I figure we'll be able to trade for plenty of adamantine, we're always in need of more of that. We still don't know all that much about this place. Who knows, they might even ally with us. Some here might even join the Flock."

You're too much of an optimist. People don't like to swap their beliefs around like that.

"Well, I can hope can't I?" he says as he steps out the front door. "Well, lets shift back to the square, see what interesting stuff we can find."

Will do!

"Hey! You didn't say 'I'll do my be-" Regiji vanishes mid-sentence.

Amiria enters the library to talk with Counnanh the Old. "Hey, are you busy?"

Counnanh looks up from his ubiquitous manga and smiles dryly. "Yeah, sure."

"See, that's the thing I've been thinking about. Nobody here. I believe the library fee should be dropped. It was my intent to keep the rascals away but apparently it also does the same with good people ..."

"Well, we certainly don't have problem with thieves or other troublemakers ... well, apart from the odd rampaging god or epic monster ... so I don't think it could get worse ..."

"That's the right attitude. Besides, knowledge should be free. It will be good for the people."

"Mhm, ok. The dangerous stuff is in the vaults anyway. Or do you want to add something ?"

"No, we quadruple-checked all our books already. The stuff in the vaults is only for the most trusted people and only if they have a really good reason for knowing some of it."

"Good. I'll inform the other librarians and the guards."

2006-12-31, 07:00 AM
A young boy, probabaly about 16, appears. His hair is blonde and unkempt, his demeanour freindly if slightly wary. He wears wizard robes in red with a white trim, a belt with a spell component pouch and a couple of extra pockets round his waist, holding the over-large robe to his slight frame. Over one shoulder he carriers a bag, and in his hand is a wooden staff with arcane symbols burnt upon it. Taking a moment to compose himself, he takes a feather out of his pouch and, chanting some wyrd mantra, floats over to the door before knocking uncertainly.

Amiria
2006-12-31, 07:20 AM

"I am Mork of Tabertown. I seek the great Amiria - I am told she would consider taking on an apprentice?"

Amiria
2006-12-31, 07:33 AM
"Oh, what a pleasant surprise ! An aspiring apprentice. Well, I'm certain that you'll get an interview. Come in. I'm Gloria."

Lord Sidereal
2006-12-31, 07:35 AM
Hi Gloria Mord says Thanks. He puts the feather back in his pocket and drifts back down to the ground/ Uncertain as to what to do next, he follows Gloria into Amiria's tower, somewhat dazed by the magnificence of the place and the sheer force of magic he can feel emenating from it.

Amiria
2006-12-31, 07:49 AM
"I guess that our Lady is up already. I'll escort you to her study. Follow me." Gloria leads you to the big entry hall to a levitation shaft. "Have you seen these ? Just step in and mentally command them with 'Up', 'Down' or 'Stop'. It's easy. We also have real steps but they are quite cumbersome in such a high building." Through the shaft it goes up to a guard post on the 5th floor. There the two change into another shaft and go up to the 20th floor. Another shaft up and they arrive on the 21st floor. Grey marble, dark wood and red and golden tapestries carpets and tapestries are here. Two levitation shafts, a spiral stairway and tow doors are also here, one of metal, covered with arcane runes and warning signs and the other of dark wood with tasteful carvings.

Gloria points at a chair in the hallway. "Wait here. I'll see if I can find her." She knocks on the wooden door but gets no answer. "A moment please" Gloria walks upstairs, leaving you alone in the hallway.

Lord Sidereal
2006-12-31, 07:53 AM
"Wow. This is incredible" he murmurs disbelivingly, before remvoing his familiar, Stutters from a pouch and placing him on his shoulder. Stutters is a small squirrell/rat type animal. Passing Stutters a small piece of grain he mutters "Yes, I know. Its amazing, isn't it" he removes a small stone and his eyes grow bright at it - it is shining more fiercly than he has seen it ever before.

2006-12-31, 08:01 AM
After two minutes, faint laughter of two young women can be heard and then the sound of steps on the stairway. Amiria comes down her usual attire ((in the spoiler)), smiling, and with Gloria in tow. "Good morning. So, you want to become my apprentice ? And Mork of Tabertown is your name ? Ok, come in my study." Amiria walks to the wooden door while Gloria smiles and waves and then steps into the levitation shaft.

Lord Sidereal
2006-12-31, 08:07 AM
Mork smiles warmly at Gloria and stays fixed until she dissappears from view. Having halted for a second, he rushes to Amiria's side "Thank you... miss? Sorry, I am at a loss as to how to address you" he turns red "thank you for seeing me, at least". Composing himself, he offers a hand (to shake) to Amiria.

Amiria
2006-12-31, 08:16 AM
Amiria takes the hand and shakes it. "Uh, how to adress me ? I guess I'm supposed to be a person to be respected if I take you as an apprentice, right ?" She smiles canny. "Well, Lady or Mistress or Archmage would be appropriate. Come in and sit down." Amiria opens the door and leads you into a small but cozy study with many bookshelfs. She walks around the big desk and sits down in an armchair. Two other armchairs are in front of the desk.

"So, you want to become a wizzzard ? Or are you already one and wish to learn more ?

An evil force seeks to extinguish the fire of magic from the land. I fled fearing for my life. I have wondered the world for some time, perhaps a year. It was on these travels that I learnt of you, Archmage. Seeking out this town, no small task even for one with such a gift, I wish to learn how to truly master my sorcerous talent so I can return and resist those who blight my land with violence and hate" his voice quivers with defiant anger.

Amiria
2006-12-31, 08:41 AM
"Sorcerous ? Are you a sorcerer or a wizard ? Do you cast by the book or from within ?"

Lord Sidereal
2006-12-31, 08:47 AM
"Well my natural talent means I can do things like this..." Mork clicks his fingers and he 'ports back to the doorway. He clicks again and is back on the seat. "Yet I am also somewhat learned in the powers of wizardry. Before leaving the school I had mastered and practised a number of fourth level spells. I do not care from which avenue my power comes from, so long as I can aid my homeland with it"

Amiria
2006-12-31, 08:53 AM
"Hmm, those are some impressive talents for someone of your age. So you are alreayd quite adpet in the Art. So, you want to learn powerful magic fast to help your homeland ? Beware, the fast way can lead to your ruin."

Lord Sidereal
2006-12-31, 08:59 AM
"Well every second I am not defnding that country people are being killed, tortured and imprisoned in the name of some false god. I do not wish to become corrupt or evil through this art but, on the other hand, in a few years there will likely be nothing left to save."

Amiria
2006-12-31, 09:11 AM
"Hmm, I learned only the basics of wizardry under the tutelage of a master. Then I went adventuring and through overcoming ever greater challenges I also learned how to improve my magic skills very fast. I also found much arcane lore and other riches on my journeys and built my tower with them.

So if you want to learn magic fast then you should go adventuring, expecially since you have already mastered the basics. Of course, there is one big danger on the adventurer's path, namely the rather high chance of finding an untimely, violent death.

If you rather want to try that path I can still teach you some additional spells that will help you. This wouldn't take to long ... well if you limit your selection."

Lord Sidereal
2006-12-31, 09:14 AM
"I would much rather study under you, or at least gain some knowledge from you. I am possibly my country's only hope - the borders were sealed less than an hour after I crossed them, and many did not know of the attacks until weeks later. If I were to die adventuring then hope would die with it. Please, even if only for a month or so, take me under your wing so I may grow strong enough to defeat the evil in my homeland."

Amiria
2006-12-31, 09:21 AM
"Ok, so there do we have to start ? If you want to learn Enchantment or Necromancy then I can't help you. But my old tutor Counnanh could teach you in those schools."

Lord Sidereal
2006-12-31, 09:25 AM
"Necromancy hold slittle attraction to me... as for enchantment, although I do not doubt its usefulness I imagine I will need to be slightly more... direct to remove the dictators from their thrones. Whatever you can suggest... although I hold some talent I am quite untutored in the arcane as an academic subject"

Amiria
2006-12-31, 09:31 AM
"Well, so do you think that you still need Wizardry 101 ? You said that you can already cast some 4th level spells ... as a wizard ?"

Lord Sidereal
2006-12-31, 09:35 AM
"Yes. My sorcery just tneds to do as I will, within my powers limitations. I can, however, learn and cast a limited number of fourth level spells every day"

Amiria
2006-12-31, 09:44 AM
"Well, then we should see how much of the theoretic stuff you already know and then we should expand your knowledge. Learning some more spells up to 4th level and see if you are ready to try some 5th level magic ... like Cloudkill." Amiria smiles begins to bombard you with questions about wizardry theory to see what you know and what not.

Lord Sidereal
2006-12-31, 09:47 AM
Mork stutters through the answers, complete oblivious to some prinicpal theories of magic. All he knows is the ideas one would learn through practising magic, that is, the differing schools, how to cast, verbal and somantic components etc. It is obvious his knowledge of magic is, at best, stunted.

Amiria
2006-12-31, 09:59 AM
"I see. Hmm, you'll have to read lots of stuff to get a better grasp on the theories. Otherwise some important stuff like counterspelling will suffer ... even learning spells would be difficult. So, how about showing me something more practical ? Let's go to the roof." Amiria leads you though another levitation shaft to another guard post in the top floor and from there through a hatch on the roof. "Ok, show me what you can cast and how you do it. I can provide some targets for your spells if you need some."

((I now must leave to party into the new year. Happy New Year !))

Lord Sidereal

Mork takes a deep breath "Okay..." he takes a small black tentacle from his pocket and, casting it into the air, chants a few arcane words. The tentacles grow and mutliply. One moves to attack Amiria, but Mork quickly moves it away. The tentacles writhe for a few moments before Mork waves a hand and dismisses them. He then raises both hands and shouts "Tundris et Pyrios!" a wall of ice and a wall of flame steak from his hands in parrallel and end at the edge of the roof. He then brings his hands toghether and, with the flames still burning, summons a small bubble around himself and Amiria. He ascends to about 6foot up and swoops through the growing wall, the flames bending away from the magical orb. He completes a circuit of the roof before setting them both down where they began. For a finale, he summons a yeth hound, which stands, facing him, its face a mask of aggression. "And now for some sorcery..." he flys up to above the hound, and, with a grand gesture, summons a cloud of purple gas at his feet. There is a breif flash of magic and the cloud begins to rain energy bolts on the hound. Mork 'ports to his original position, considers the tableaux, and then banishes both the hound and the storm.

"Good good. So, I have a plan. You'll learn the theoretic parts from Counnanh. He is way better in teaching those things than me ... and the fact that only reads mangas in the library could mean that he is bored. So that would be a nice diversion for him.

I'll teach you the more practical parts. New spells and showing you how the theory directly relates to casting.

You'll live here in the tower. There is room on the 18th floor for you, directly above the library and labs."

Lord Sidereal
2007-01-02, 05:33 AM
"Thank you so much" Mork says, before retiring to his room to rest.

The training begins the next day at a rapid pace. Mork sits hours and hours in the library together with a grumpy old man who tries to teach him the fundamental theories of arcane spellcasting. Sometimes he gets some help from more benign, scholary visitors of the library when Counnanh is away to scream frustrated, kick against things, and tear his hair.

It is easier with Amiria, who concentrates on teaching Mork some practical spells that should help him against the evils in his homeland. Now and then she slips in a questions about theoretical stuff to see if Mork is still on track with Counnanh.

Mork wanders the hallways looking tired. Avoiding Amria with gold old fashioned sneaking, he's looking for some respite from the questioning. Eldritch essence crakles from his ink-stained finger tips. Searching for no one and nothing in particular, he sticks to the servants quaters and utility rooms.

Erdan arrives at the tower and knocks.

Amiria

Mork may find some diversion with some young people in the servants quarters, especially on the lower floors, mainly servants and guards.

------------------------------

The door is opened by a guard (http://www.giantitp.com/avatars/RedKnightGirl.gif). "All hail Erdan ! Mighty shipowner and bartender !", she calls out and smiles. "What can we do for you ?"

Lord Sidereal

After some time spent relaxing with a number of the guards and using his new-found majicks to gain a small amount of money, he returns to Amiria to continue training.

Admiral One

He tips his hat.

"Hello, I have come to see Amiria. Do you know wheter she is available at the moment, or if not, what time would be best to come back?"

((sorry about the slow posting, its been a long day.))

Amiria
2007-01-16, 11:24 AM
"Yes, Amiria is here. She's in the alchemical lab on the 12th floor. Do you find the way ?", asks the guard and steps aside.

Admiral One
2007-01-16, 04:59 PM
"I should be able to find it, thank you."

He manages to find his way through the corridors and knocks on the door to the lab.

Amiria

"Yes ? Come in !", yells presumably Amiria from beyond the door.

Erdan opens the door and steps inside the room.

"Hello, I'm not interupting anything, I hope?"

Amiria
2007-01-16, 05:48 PM
Amiria stands there surrounded by many strange alchemical apparatuses. Everything bubbles and steams in many different colours. She wears some protective gloves, a heavy apron and protective goggles. "Ah, it is you ! Hello Erdan. No, this experiment can wait ... I hope."

Admiral One
2007-01-16, 05:54 PM
"Hello. I have simply come to thank you for your work on the amulet and to tell you that I have your payment onboard my ship. Well, the remains of it. We ran into a spot of trouble. I trust Mirage made it back fine, however?"

Amiria
2007-01-17, 12:20 PM
"Well, that's good, so everything was delivered ?

Mirage ? No, I haven't heard of her. As far as I know she hasn't returned. She has no powers or items of long range teleportation. She said that she would come back with you or contact me to pick her up."

Admiral One
2007-01-17, 04:13 PM
((you didnt get my pm, did you?))

Amiria
2007-01-17, 04:17 PM
((I did get your PM. Mirage is apparently M.I.A.))

Admiral One
2007-01-17, 05:00 PM
((ah, k, good))

"Yes, well, it's all on the beach at the moment. Mostly jewels and such. It is your choice as to when and where you would like it moved.

Wait, what? I thought she had already come back, she wasn't aboard the ship, as far as I know."

Amiria
2007-01-17, 05:34 PM
"Just bring it to the tower. I'll take a look at it and then everything should be ok.

What ? That's strange. When did you see her last time ? Are you sure that she wasn't on your ship. Anyway, what happened there ?

Hmm, I guess I could also get some answers by looking in my Crystal Ball."

Admiral One
2007-01-17, 05:56 PM
"Very well, I shall have it delivered soon.

Well, I am quite sure that she wasn't on board, no one else saw her, but I wasn't exactly around for a while. We landed in the north after Mirage came... then we all went to a banquet...and we were attacked...and I had a scrap with a demon...and then I woke up here. Then the longship was attacked on the way back, and I sailed with El J to help her, and now she is being repaired. I think the banquet was when I saw her last."

Kerigan watched Llama enter the tower, and decided to try at it, wisping away into the shadow of a nearby hamster, floating over to the Libary and entering with gold she nipped off of the money spot for the libary, glancing about and finding Llama, raising a brow at his choice of books.
