This is kinda like my other thread, but they're different sets of opinions, so I think they should be kept separate. I am looking for a guitar strap, and then got this idea in my head of using an ammo belt. I could either use a leather ammo belt for my classical, or a metal one for my Stratocaster. What do you guys think?

A metal belt is going to be heavy and noisy and you will get things stuck in it and it'll either rust or be greasy all the time. A leather belt, on the other hand, is not much different from a regular leather belt without bullets in it; if you can find a bunch of casings for cheap then by all means, but if not then just get a regular strap.

Well, it depends on the tone (http://www.thegearpage.net/board/showthread.php?t=517642) your going for. :smalltongue:

I dunno. To me, it seems pretty cheesy, and a little unwieldy, but if you're okay with it, who'm I to say no?

Chewy pulls it off pretty well.

I've seen one that was designed to LOOK like an ammo belt, but instead had a double row of various picks.

Aw. I thought there would be a link to a picture of an ammo belt guitar strap. It sounds so bad ass. I want to see one now.

I've seen guitarists use all sorts of things for this purpose (chains, etc). The big questions are how comfortable it is and whether it's going to be sliding too much.

Of COURSE Chewie plays a Flying V.

if you really must, and not many people will take you seriously if you do (unless you're ted nugent), then go with a leather bullet holster

metal one would be uggly as hell, and is likely to scratch the hell of out your guitar/possible snap strings
