View Full Version : Optimization for a Crusader/Cleric/Doom Lord?

While I have some experience with ToB classes that experience is limited. While I usually play casters I have used ToB before and have had some fun with "gish" builds as well, but I rarely ever play a non fullcaster. Thus, I have decided to give ToB a spin, but with keeping with my theme of "casting" I want to give the following Homebrew PrC a spin but want to know how I can optimize this character.

The class in question is the Doom Lord (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=79032) and as for what I want the character to do flavorfully, he is going to be a "Dark Lord/Tin Tyrant" type of character who excels at both commanding flunkies(obtained with leadership and perhaps some necromancy..if needed.) but also being a competent and powerful melee fighter. While this build may seem to MAD, I am using my own homebrew feat (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=177245) to reduce that MAD and have a Cha focused build. While that feat CAN do lots of crazy things with DMM, I am working under the assumption that the DM will not allow DMM to be used in conjunction with that feat, so when suggesting optimization ideas please leave out any potential DMM shenanigans as I most likely won't have acssess to them.

What I am mainly looking for is feat choice and maneuver choice, but especially feats. I have a pretty basic ideas of what maneuvers I want to use(Lots of Dread Crown (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=76218) and a fair bit of White Raven) but I would still like to be made aware of some more interesting combination and such. Oh, and while I have played clerics quite a bit, if you all happen to know any spells that would be fun or good to memorize with this build that are not the usual "Clericzilla" buffs please say so as the cleric list is massive and there may be some obscure spells I don't know about.

Also, one other thing, while I know crusader suffers from the "random maneuver" issue I would rather use Crusader over Warblade for two reasons, the first of which is purely fluff/flavor. The second being that, while a warblade has control of his maneuvers, his class features have little ability score synergy with this build since many of his powers are based off of int, a stat that I won't be investing that large of an amount in for this build. The Crusader, however, for the three levels I will take it grants me two abilities that synergize well with both Doom Lord and (cha)cleric as they are keyed off of Cha. However, if you all feel the random manuvers is too horrible I may still consider warblade but the int based powers will be rather useless on this character.

So, dose anybody have ideas for this guy?
