.....Xykon is the love-child of the Lady of Pain and Vecna....

This seems like a legit theory.

You really started the thread, I approve. Immensely.:cool:.

More like the love spawn of Groucho Marx and Lucretia Borgia.

Yeah... the spawn of those two would be somewhere between NE and TN, and rather leaning to law than chaos, I'd assume. Also, a little bit more subtle.

Unless he's rebelling, of course.

I think you just described Tarquin, not Xykon.

Xykon killed both of his parents as a teenager, shortly after learning what a sorcerer was. If this is the case, he must have been BORN with more than 20 HD.

At four he casts his first spell- Animate Dead.

So, in effect, with his first spell, he may already have (unknowingly) have had several sorcerer levels.

I've heard it said before that there is a first-level spell called "Animate Dead Animal".

Only in Second Edition. If their is one in Third Edition, it's as far as I can tell, not core.

His parents were apparently regular people.

Who he fed to zombies.

He was born 90 odd years ago, so it could have been second edition. But there weren't any sorcerers in second edition (except in Baldur's Gate 2).

Long version: Please give reasons.

Short version: Why?

...and? There's plenty of material in OOTS that is not core. For that matter, neither is the Lady of Pain core.

Doesn't the DMG 3.5 make a reference to her when describing The Outlands?

Long version: Please give reasons.

Short version: Why?

Vecna = Evil, evil god
Lady of Pain = Sounds pretty evil
Xykon = Evil, evil everywhere

Of course, he's just as likely to be the offspring of the slaughter god....

Bulletproof logic right there.

I propose an alternate theory on that basis:

Tiamat = Evil, evil god
Sovereign of the Howling Dark = Sounds pretty evil
Xykon = Evil, evil everywhere

Thus, Xykon must have the half-dragon template.

Peace,

The Lich Queen in Eberron, is a half-green dragon lich, she is why the dragons eradicated a whole dragonmarked house; somehow she survived became a lich and started on of the most (at that time) widespread religions in korhvaire The Blood of Vol

Since SoD we know his parents (at least off-panel). And you have to do a bit better than throwing random evil chars into the arena (where one might even be neutral).

The Lady of Pain does not like Vecna. Seriously. This is canon.

I mean, more than she dislikes most gods.

And the only reason that's less legit than my theory is the fact that Xykon's skull isn't properly shaped. If he constantly wore a cloak that hid his skulls shape, your theory would be as logical as mine.

Well, that and he doesn't seem to be doing anything for Tiamat

I concede to your point, but the troll inside obligates me to point out it could've been hatesex.

OBJECTION!

In Stick-verse, there is no Vecna...

This. There are the Northern, Southern, Western, and Elven Gods, plus the Dark One.

Yup: page 167 of 3.5 DMG:

The ultimate ruler of Sigil is an enigmatic being known as the Lady of Pain, a floating female humanoid with bladelike hair. The full extent of her powers is unknown, but it is widely assumed that her power equals or exceeds that of the deities.

Even if Vecna doesn't exist, Roy's list of outer planes sounds a lot like the DMG list with the serial numbers filed off- so the Outlands (with Sigil) could be one of the unnamed ones:

But we have now proved that he has the half-dragon template. Also -
Axiom 1 - Xykon is chaotic evil
Axiom 2 - Xykon is never shown killing a drow.
Axiom 3 - The drow are elves, and so may have the capacity to determine the thing with the gates
Conclusion (A) from axiom 2 and axiom 3 - The drow are on Xykon's side.
But, the drow are lawful evil. Thus:
Conclusion from Conclusion (A) and Axiom 1 - the drow have a special reason to be on Xykon's side.
Axiom 4 - Everyone is scared of the Lady of Pain.
Final Conclusion: Xykon must be the Lady of Pain's child. It has been logically shown.

The Drow are chaotic evil. There's no once of law in them other than what can be provided with a knife.

Officially in 3.0 and 3.5, their listed alignment is "Usually Neutral Evil".

Their CE deity might help to boost their "chaotic tendencies" though- and make it the second most common alignment.
