Title is self explanatory...the rest of us don't even have to understand it, so long as it's in OOTS! :smalltongue:

You can only pick ONE! Just so we can keep it simple...

Mine would have to be:

"Welcome to the village of Lickmyorangeballshalfling!
No seriously, give 'em a good once over! :)"

I couldn't breathe from laughing at that one :D

Meh. I thought that was so dramatic that I didn't find it the least bit funny, just awesome.

On the top of my head I can think of:

Together with Nale's expression -> hilarious.

I posted this (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0595.html) comic on my wall when it came out. (I bought the book but no point in cutting it out just to replace it.) The epicness of the completely random, completely unexpected end of a long running subplot was just unbelievable.

Maybe this thread should change into "Favorite joke/comic" though, since a lot of them are the epic comics themselves...

Oh yeah, also the ONE! WORD! (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0306.html) comic. That was just a burst of giggles.

My favorite joke in OOTS is actually from the Azure City travel guide in War & XPs:"Many citizens questioned why it need to be so darn big--some even going so far as to suggest that maybe Lord Ronjo was overcompensating for something (before realizing that the same joke had been made in the first Shrek movie)--but the Lord was able to convince enough noble houses to go along with it anyway."

And yeah, the Fruit Pie was... amazing. So amazing. I thought it was funny even before I totally got the reference.

But my favorite has got to be: "You should follow me out onto the grass'n/It's not so you can avoid the assassins/That sure aren't running loose in the place/And might stab you seven times in the face!" (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0238.html) I die laughing every time I get to that stanza! The perfect blend of Suspiciously Specific Denial and Elan song. :D

Straight off the top of my head is the town getting prepared for adventurers joke in the early 100s, but after thinking on the early ones, I remembered the turn undead joke in the 20s. I kept thinking, and when I realized how bad an idea that was, I was left on the scene at the hotel where Roy is trying to figure out "somewhere," "nowhere," and "anywhere."

Dang, no one has brought up my favorite. Laughed for about an hour:

#379 - Great idea! Here, I'll have my best wizard teleport you! Oh, look at that, it didn't work. (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0379.html)

I have to agree, every time I read that I end up laughing for a good while

I'll try to avoid repeating already mentioned strips, so...

Tarquin's line: you can't make an omelette without....

Roy: when is the trial scheduled to begin?
lawyer: what's your move rate?

the Sendings by Nale (oh, i actually have words left? then allow me to say-)

the whole Magnificent conversation between Elan and V after Kubota's death (also the dire half dragon werepiranhas, heh)

and from SoD
Xykon: what doesn't kill them, makes them stronger!
Redcloak: but this IS killing them!
Xykon: details!
heh, that was great

More to come!

nale extra smart. nale not get lost.
Maybe...but, uh, did you see him leave a trail of breadcrumbs? You know, to find his way back?
thog not see any.
What? Oh man! Oh, Thog, he'll never find his way back without a trail of breadcrumbs!

Exactly! Only YOU can save him, Thog!

Some of my favorite humour comes from Jerks getting a comeuppance and their subsequent reaction. Within reasonable limits, of course. So seeing Eugene's face in this comic had me going for a good minute or so.

The exact same thing the whole arc was referencing: Star Wars.

Man, there's way too many to go on about.. but, having just received my prequel books, I'll pull some out of there (please don't Spoil them for yourself, I seriously beg of you!)

SoD:

Oracle: "We're in the middle of a scene you don't remember in a narrated flashback framed by a flash-forward in a prequel book. There's no way in hell you're finding your way back here."

Redcloak and Right-Eye's reactions in the Evil Diner to finding themselves suddenly in full color. It was so freaking well-written and unexpected, I was laughing for ages.

And, of course, Redcloak's infamous slaying of Smokey. I couldn't believe the awesomeness.

OtOoPCs:

Both are between Roy and Belkar-

"You're late."
"Gosh golly, Mr. Principal, am I going to have to stay after class?"

"You can't stab Elan and Haley!"
"Explain." Belkar's expression of genuine curiosity here was fantastic.

Haley: Huh. Well, I guess he's really not going to be needing what we're taking anymore.
Celia: Why, is it a hat?

So macabre, so funny, so unexpected from Celia.

You remind me of one of the reasons why I like Celia so much: Her lines are very often completely unexpected. My all-time favorite:

Do you need, like, 200-foot-tall flaming letters or something? (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0759.html)

Not Haley saying it; Elan remembering it.

(Because the rules only let me give one, that's why there's nothing about one saving throw at a time, or getting on with saving the world, or spiked tentacles, or the fish version being a subset, or Bugsby's Expressive Single Digit, or why isn't he jolly, or wanting to make out, or breadcrumbs, or sexy shoelessness, or ....)
