Are these hard to find? Are all colors the same?

The colors are not the same and they are hard to find.

I'm glad I got my set while they were in stores :smallcool:

There is a set at a local store, not sure which printing. There is no silver writing on the front...

This (http://www.broncosaurusrex.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/-64943004440832990.jpg) is what a set of Encyclopedia Magica should look like.

There are four volumes, each with a different color cover. You need all four to have the complete A-Z set.

They're not terribly easy to lay hands on, but not too difficult either. Nobleknight had a few copies on hand last I looked at it. Troll and Toad might have some as would Dragonstrove. Amazon and ebay are also good places to go if you're bargain hunting.

Gotcha. And so it looks like from doing a bit of research that the covers without the gold (or silver?) image and writing on the front are the 1st print of it?

The first print was the deluxe 'looks like an old spellbook' type. That would be:

A couple years later they released the 'stripped down' versions that just looked like 'normal game rulebooks'. That would be:

Yep.

But really, you want 2nd printing. The first printing (which I own) has a bad tendancy to fall apart as that baas relief logo in the middle of the front cover is a separate, glued on (poorly) decal that has a very bad habit of falling off.
