So Judge Dredd was on last night and i'm feeling inspired. I want to make a Judge Dredd-esq character as a lawfull Incarnate. Or Law Incarnate rather.

I want to stick with incarnate, may be dip paladin or cleric for kicks (is the divive/incarnum Thaeurge any good)

Any one have ideas on how to make this good, or specific soul melds that fit well?

You'll have to go with Cleric for that dip. Paladin has to be LG and incarnate has to be NG,LN,CN, or NE. Sapphire Hierarch combines incarnum and divine magic nicely, just make sure you pick a deity that gives the law domain.

Lawful incarnate, law devotion. If you can gestalt, get a crusader with aura of order.

I believe Mongoose Publishing actually has a system for Judge Dread and the other 2000 AD thingies, but I can't vouch for it. Its a tweak of the Traveller ruleset.

All of my paladins have used that line lol. I have also used it with my 4th ed invoker.

The Pathfinder prestige Hellknight could definately make for an awesome judge dredd like character, may have to do some fanagling with your dm to make it work but its an idea

http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/prestige-classes/hellknight

its Lawful Any alignment based with lots of cool crowd control effects, its based almost entirely around using fullplate which gets some really awesome bonuses.

You are prolly pretty set on the incarnate thing.

But I just have to suggest the Ruby Knight Windicator.
The fluff can be molded quite nicely to make "judges"

I've got one I'm playing right now. He's just a simple cleric with the law domain, but then again, most of Dredd's abilities came from his equipment. He's got some tricked out full plate, he dual wields shields (planning on having paralyzing repeating crossbows integrated into them), a reflavored phylactery of faithfulness (so that it instantly informs me of any lawbreaking within 60ft), and finally the wrapped tower shield from the Libris Mortis refluffed to instead be wrapped in Axiomatic texts that he wears on his back. Lots of other stuff planned, but this is all the things for the immediate future. I also realize that this isn't exactly Stalone's rendition, but it captures the attitude perfectly.

EDIT: He also had a charm on his wrist (reflavored quiver of lies) that would refill his crossbows as long as he could list a crime whoever he was shooting at commited.

From the title, I thought you were just talking about being the DM...

That is pretty win! I'll have to look into some of that stuff

+1.. Enforcer/Incarnate is pretty close to Judge Dredd.

Mongoose do indeed have a Judge Dredd game out. They may have changed it now, but the edition I have is very much D20 based. It's very good fun too.

Judges are pretty much a case of full BAB, Good saves across the board, bonus feats like a fighter, d12 hit dice and an array of equipment including a bike fitted with machine guns and a laser cannon, as well as the ubiquitous lawgiver. Which has a base damage of 3d6, plus a variety of specialist ammo and the ability to rapid fire. Which gets insane amounts of damage potential once iterative attacks start to kick in.

All judges start at 3rd level and get 4 skill points per level.

There's also a Dredd-type character template in the Mutants and Masterminds Instant Superheroes book.

I am not sure what system you're using (did I overlook something?), but if you're doing 3.5, you could try out the Church Inquisitor from Complete Divine. You could possibly even ask your DM to let you trade Detect Evil at-will for Detect Chaos at-will, as that seems like a fair exchange. It's a cleric PrC with full casting, and it even gives you the Inquisition Domain and a ton of class features centered on interrogating people. It's perfect for hunting down lawbreakers.

I mentioned i wanted to do an Incarnate which is 3.5 only as far as i am aware.

Also i know about Grey Gaurd and Hell Knight and such. They pretty much are THE Judge Dredd characters fluff wise. I just wanted to do it with an Incarnate, because i feel they could and may be should have that kind of feel also (at least the more martial minded ones) it's just not presented that way in the book very clearly.

I've heard Incarnates make decent Melee'ers but i'm not really seeing how. Is the incarnum wepon plus lightning gaultlets enough? (crap are both those hands slot?)

Incarnates aren't great for melee, but they can be competent. A sapphire hierarch using divine power is an absolute nightmare in melee. Several of a Lawful incarnates soulmelds and class-features allow them to stack enough bonuses onto their melee attacks that their attack bonus approaches that of a medium Bab character.

Ha ha! When I read your line about wanting a lawful incarnate, I thought you wanted an incarnation of law as a character, not the incarnate class with a lawful alignment. What a hilarious misunderstanding!

Right, I'll see what I can dig up on that system- it's not one I'm terribly familiar with, so I don't know how much I can offer you. *goes digging into sourcebooks*

For some reason I see kensai as a PrC. Anything LN. I would not consider Judge Dread as LG.

I like to talk about the Incarnate class as Law Incarnate or Good Incarnate because it sounds cooler. So i kinda meant both things.

He really is LG at the end of the movie but the Judge Dredd every one thinks of (and the one i want) is the LN Judge Dredd from the beginning of the movie. SCREW CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT!

I really wish i could get the azurin cleric 4th level ACF and Decent meld shaping. I geuss thats only 6 level(4cleric/2incarnate) before doing saphire heirerarch, not too awful.

Dredd in the movie isn't Dredd. It's Stallone in a sort of but not really very good Justice Department uniform. For one thing, the readers have never seen Dredd's face in 35 years of comics. And why was Hammerstein in the movie? The ABC Warrior continuity is a little cloudy about how it interacts with that of Dredd, but I'm pretty sure they are far in his future. Even farther than the Strontium Dogs are.

The Dredd in the movie isn't the guy who's comment on the Apocalypse War, which killed 400 million citizens, was "Next time we get our retalliation in first." And nor was he the Dredd who swam across a river of acid to escape from the Sisters of Death, after failing his own clone on his Full Eagle Day.

Screw character development is right. Dredd has had very little of it over the years. He's the straight man to Mega City 1's complete insanity.
