[3.5] Magical ways of getting speech?

I'm playing a griffin (using the SS "monsters as class" griffin progression) in an upcoming 3rd level game, but I'm having trouble coming up with ways of gaining the powers of speech.

Are there any ways of gaining the ability to speak before 3rd level?

There's a cantrip called message, just point to the one you wish to talk to and they+anyone near them will hear a whispered message,as long as you both know the language.

EDIT: Actually, you need to be able to whisper the message, so nevermind.
