So, what exactly does this mean?

How should one properly roleplay this stat?

What is a good comparison to his level of Wisdom/Common Sense?

ps. He is a Kobold ate my Baby inspired Kobold subrace if that matters, and I am going to stat him up as a Rogue 2/Fighter 2/Cleric 2.

pss. Oh, and he has a 9 Int...

Someone like this is doomed. If you treat wisdom as common sense and/or using the knowledge and experience you have, this is a person who will repeatedly burn himself on a stove and it won't sink in that hot things hurt.

Line of archers? Archers suck in HTH, CHARGE!

He'll do what he thinks is best without considering consequences or past failures.

And he'll need a lot of Raise Deads. :smallfrown:

Examples of creatures with more Wis than your character: every animal, mindless undead, violet fungus, centipedes.

Examples of creatures with equal to or less wis than your character: Shrieker fungus, oozes.

My suggestion? Reroll. You have understanding and awareness of the world comparable to a fungus. Only slightly more than oozes. You'll be playing a gibbering, barely conscious kobold who will need to actively train Spot to realize his hand is in front of his face.

And why on earth would you go cleric with this Wis? You literally are unable to cast any spells.

He's Kiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Characters_of_Sluggy_Freelance#Kiki), from Sluggy Freelance.

This character is dooméd. Dooooméd. Probably be fun for the short time it lasts, though.

If you want an example of low wis evil look at basicly every cliche' "evil overlord" type from cartoons and videogames aimed at the younger crowd(Dr. Eggman from Sonic being a shining example of low wis evil(EGGMAN, though...not Robotnik...SATAM Robotnik was actually an intimidating and compitent villain while Eggman is...well..if you've ever played a sonic game you should know what he's like.)).....Or even better, read the evil overlord list (http://www.eviloverlord.com/lists/overlord.html). A lack of common sense has been the downfall of many, many, many bad guys, espcially the cliche' "I shall rule the world! bwahahahahahahahahahaha!" types that the list linked above pokes fun at. However, one thing that all these types also have in common is that despite their abismal wisdom scores they usually have high int seeing as many of them build robots and doomsday devices or can cast powerful spells.

Your character however, is low int AND low wis, and I am not even sure he/she's evil(I just assumed so from the "baby eating" comment.). Thus, not only will your character act with absolutly no common sense, but they will be pretty dumb as well. He will not be THAT dumb since 10 is average int and your one point below that. So you are an idot, yes but not one who's int is mental disorder level low, more or less just your average dumb/below average inteligence type guy. The best way to RP this is to think of the most simple and ineffective plans/actions posible...thats what your character would do...say he's up against a BBEG wizard buffed to the extreme against melee fighters...what would he/she do? Charge in like an idot and take damage from all those 'death armor" type dammaging shield spells. Thats the jist of how he/she should act.

Low intelligent with basically no wisdom would be a machine. Like a robot he can clean the streets by himself.
Such a character would know how to use a weapon, but have no idea when to use it. Maybe very simple conditioning like "kill everything that looks like a goblin" and "eat everything that looks like food". Telling him to guard something would not work, as he lacks the ability to discern a thread from something harmless. He could put on his own clothes, but would probably not be able to select appropriate pieces of clothing, as he lacks the ability to distinguish between different social circumstances and situations.

2 Wis is not "has very little common sense" or "has tendencies to do dumb things." 2 Wis is literally a step away from comatose. If you want RP suggestions - the shrieker fungus and oozes are the things to model your character after. He's got terrible vision, terrible eyesight, etc.

From the SRD:
"Wisdom describes a character’s willpower, common sense, perception, and intuition. While Intelligence represents one’s ability to analyze information, Wisdom represents being in tune with and aware of one’s surroundings."

So he's slightly better at these things than an ooze.

I could be wrong but .. don't PCs have to have at least a 3 in every stat in order to be playable? (Not counting those that don't have a score, like constitution/strength for undead/incorporeal)

How did your Kobold manage to survive to be level 6 with a wisdom score that low?

No, just Int.

Ok, that makes sense. Still, that is an extremely rare thing to have wis that low barring permanent ability damage. I'd go as far as to say unique.

Wisdom is pretty vaguely defined in D&D. Lots of interpretations you could use. One I like though, is that you basically have no soul.

You could be very efficient, even very smart, but deep down you are a machine. You don't understand emotions. You can't empathize with anyone, much less care about anything or anyone. You're not even driven by pain and pleasure at an animal level. Just cold, mechanical, logical survival instincts, what to do to live and eat another day.

Of course, lots of other interpretations around since wisdom means everything and nothing. That and you are blind as a bat, unless you get some spot/listen training.

Then maybe make is so he always does unreasonable things, but in a cute way. I'd imagine him like a puppy, eating your carpets but then gives you those big eyes you can't resist. That might actually make him survive for some time.

You do know that he would have to have 10 wisdom to cast 0 level cleric spells, right? The levels in Cleric will be worthless to him since he can't cast any divine spells with that much wisdom.

Adventuer's Log: Day 57 and a half. My hand itches. What's that smell? What did I say while I was asking what that smell was? Answer me, paper! I will know your secrets! I will know the taste of your flesh! Do not tempt me with your wily poetry! I know your secrets! The square root of yesterday was a bag of potatoes! No one can stop me now!

Fascinating creatures, these monkeys. Took my last breadstick, they did! Only five left until my complementary horse-drawn carriage! Or perhaps six. Sometimes I tickle myself while jumping into red bathtubs. And sometimes I do not.

The rain talks to me. It tells me to stop eavesdropping. But the rain is already dropping! Into my hands! That has been its one mistake, all along. My destiny is now at hand. Only the bugbears know how. Or when.

Note to self: If you are reading this, then it is the future. Not the past. Preemptive antidisestablishmentarianism! My shoes already know too much. They cannot be trusted to stay on my knees!

I suppose technically he'd still be able to turn/rebuke undead or use any associated Divine Feats, but yeah, not a lot of utility in a non-casting member of a caster class.

It really should be otherwise so that these sorts of situations don't arise accidentally but as a result of deliberate choice.

But, yeah. Myopic, unimaginative, and likely to mishear any orders more than three words long. So basically like a skeleton with bad eyesight that can react to situations that come up but not well or quickly.

Look at your profile picture now back to Fang, now back to your profile picture, now back to Fang. Sadly, your profile picture is not Fang. But if your profile picture stopped executing cunning plans on the entire forum it could plan like Fang. Look down, back up, where are you? You're on a ship with the kobold your kobold could plan like. What's in your hand? Back at Fang, he has it, it's a treasure chest with two scrolls of that spell you love. Look again, the scrolls are now diamonds. Anything is possible when your kobold plans like rubber poinging and not euclidean geometry.

Hello players. How are you? Fantastic.
Does your character looks like Fang? No. But he can plan like him. Yes. Should he use old failed botched rolls? I don't know. Do you like the smell of something burning? Do you want a Kobold that thinks as fast as a paralized snail and can lick his own eyes just because he's unaware of the impossibility? Of course you do. Swandive! Into the most terrible character a DM could ever hope for.
So players... should your Kobold be as witty as Captain Fang, the Kobold?
