Is there a D&D Essentials SRD or some equivalent available online? A quick google search turned up nothing, but I feel like it should be available somewhere.

From what I understand, WotC decided against a public SRD for 4e, and has a much stricter OGL (Open Gaming License) they're using called the GSL (Game System License).

So, to my knowledge, there is no 4e or 4eE SRD.

There is, basically. It's called the DDI Compendium. It requires a subscription to D&D Insider which costs $10/month. It also gives you access to other goodies (character builder and monster builder).

That's $10 for one month. If you decide to go long term, there's a $6/mo option which, split 4 ways, lets you get a year's subscription for a little less than $20/person.
