So, I've got a friend who's playing in a Pathfinder game with me, and he's picked up leadership this level. He says he's interested in getting a cohort who is part Barbarian and part Bard. A sort of Bard-barian, if you will.

Strange choices aside, I'm trying to find the best way to help him build this cohort, and while I'm fairly certain that there's a prestige class somewhere that combines the two, or at least gives me a baseline to build one around, I can't for the life of me find it.

Does anyone know of a prestige class in Pathfinder/3.5 that blends Bard and Barbarian together?

Thanks.

Well there is a savage bard alternate class feature for bards on the srd.

There is also the Rage Mage in Complete Warrior, which combines arcane spellcasting and Barbarian rage. It has more synergy with Sorcerers, rather than Bards, but a Bard can meet the entry requirements just as easily.

Warrior Skald, Races of Faerun.

Plenty of Bardic Music-type abilities and good BAB, but it doesn't actually improve any Barbarian abilities, unfortunately.

The War Chanter in Complete Warrior could also serve, but again, it doesn't advance Barbarian class features.

The only clear Bard-barian hybrid PrC I've encountered would be the one I made up for the last GitP PrC Contest ;)

Bard-barian

Mostly from poking around the PFSRD.
Barbarian Rage Powers (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/barbarian):
Moment of Clarity - Let's you temporarily suspend Rage to do something besides hit things (i.e. Bard Stuff)
Inspire Ferocity + Reckless Abandon - Can give nearby Allies an Attack Bonus and AC Penalty for # rounds equal to Cha bonus.
Spirit Totem, Lesser - Basically gives you an extra attack at your Bab+Cha Bonus, and does 1d4+Cha Bonus in negative energy damage, EVERY ROUND!

Might also consider the 'Serenity' replacement for Rage, give Dex and Wis bonuses, +2 to all saves, downsides are no Int-based Skills (can still use Wis or Cha though), cannot cast spells, and cannot communicate (not sure if this rules out Bard-Songs though...).

Bard Options (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/bard):
Savage Skald has been mentioned, but you may also want to look at the Violent Performance (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/bard#TOC-Violent-Performance-Variant) variant. Instead of performing, the Bard can now just attack something to start his 'violent performance'.

As for Races, the 3 best (core) options are probably:
Human (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/races/core-races/human), as always.

Half-Elf (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/races/core-races/half-elf), can have 2 favored classes (hmm, which 2 to pick...), and can cash in the Bard Favored Class bonus for an extra round of performance. And you can swap out the Skill Focus feat for +2 to Will saves (Dual Minded alternate racial trait).

Half-Orc (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/races/core-races/half-orc), can trade in Barbarian Favored Class bonus for an extra round of Rage.

Huh... I hadn't even considered those... thanks for the tips. Gonna roll this up now. I'll let you know how it turns out.
