It was easy to miss the black patch in the night sky, but now the creature is fully visible. It looks like a man-sized ape, solid black, hunched over and snarling, big meaty hands clenched into fists at its sides.

Night Apes are creatures that seem unnatural, however their origins remain unknown. They seem much like regular apes in appearance and build, however their fur is a deep solid black color sometimes with a hint of blue tint, matching the night's sky. These aggressive carnivorous apes have the capability to climb and hang on seemingly nothing at all, and will hunt by waiting, hovering usually about twenty feet off the ground, camouflaged against the night sky, until prey walks beneath them. When attacking, the first instinct of a Night Ape is to get rid of any source of light as quickly as possible, and as such they always focus their attention first on lights and those carrying them, ripping torches out of peoples hands, and the like.

Night Apes are uncommon, and are often hunted for their thick finger bones, which are a central component in Immovable Rods.

Skyclimb (Su): Night Apes are capable of climbing on nothing at all. They can find solid handholds on thin air, and hang from a passing breeze. They are capable of climbing at their full climb speed, and stopping, whether there is anything to hold on to or not. A Night Ape can drop up to 20 feet without harming itself, and may treat such a fall as a charge attack.

Pounce (Ex): If a Night Ape charges a foe, it can make a full attack.

Light Sensitivity (Ex): Night Apes are dazzled in bright sunlight or within the radius of a daylight spell.

Night Camouflage (Ex): The fur of Night Apes is so matching to the sky, that the only indicator of their presence is a small patch of night sky lacking stars. It is possible to spot such an odd patch with a DC 20 Spot check. If the area containing the Night Ape is very well lit, then this DC decreases to 10, as it becomes visible in the light. There are some rare Night Apes who have a mottled starry pattern on their fur, making them even harder to distinguish: the Spot DC for such apes is 30.

Night Apes have a +10 racial bonus on Climb checks and can always choose to take 10 on Climb checks, even if rushed or threatened.

It seemed like a fun idea! So this is my creation today. It has improved disarm, so its first action will be something like dropping onto whoever is carrying the torch, or the object with Light cast on it, and grabbing it out of their hands, and throwing it as far away as they can.

I decided to make its hiding a flat DC rather than a Hide check. This is because a Hide check implies you see it or you don't, whereas in this case success means you notice that there is an odd patch in the sky, rather than seeing that there is a creature.
