[3.5] Hmm...Possible to make a melee psion?

So I have a feeling one of my characters will be turned down. :smallfrown:

In any event, I will take the opportunity to make yet another backup to cover an event.

So here is my question, with the following stats would a melee pure Psion be doable?

14 14 12 11 12 15

He is a Grey Elf, so with the level four bonus he will have a +4 Int Mod and I plan to get the item to make it +5.

I also want to make him a Dexterity fiend, so I plan to get him a +5 Mod in Dex as well.

I am thinking of taking a feat to get him Tumble as a class skill, and to take the Psionic Arms and Armor crafting feat to be able to make him a pair of Bodyfeeder Rapiers. He would also have the Two-Weapon Fighting feat and the feat to improve the rapiers' critical range.

I am think Damn, looks like the only way to do this would be to level dip into Swashbuckler or something. Is there a way to do it without losing a manifester level?

Its called an Egoist.

And if you really want to gish out, dip a level of Fighter or Ranger and head into the Slayer (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/prestigeClasses/slayer.htm) PrC. Its full BAB and 9/10 manifesting. It also gives a couple of ok powers, like Cerebral Blind.

Plus, when people ask what class you are, flash them the metal sign, stick your tongue out, and shout SLAYER!!!!!

You'd probably be better off not going the Dex-based or TWF route. I'd suggest Psion=> Slayer, possibly with a Ranger dip.

This could potentialy work. One important thing to keep in mind is that you can wear armor without spell failure in psionics.

It works fine. Tho mind, until you get Control Body, you'll have to use a non-Int stat for combat. But yeah, Slayer and all that should carry you fine; not losing Manifester Levels means you have to make do with ½ BAB which can be annoying (though not the end of the world, surely). It just so happens Metamorphosis is excellent.

does it have to be a grey elf? A Whisper Gnome or Dragonborn Warforged (straight Warforged works) would be a better race IMO.

If you plan to be on the front lines in a d4 hitdie class the con penalty is huge!

(dragon born whisper gnome loses many features but has +4 con/-2cha-2str)
