Hi

I was just hoping people would be able to recommend some good music for fight scenes.

We decided it might help the atmosphere last session but were sort of limited to the stuff that happened to be on my laptop which happened to be

Riots from Slumdog Millionaire (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=InlUqYTKveA)
Millionaire from the same (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=erZwFH21gsQ)
and Battle With Honour or Humanity by Tomoyasu Hotei (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJwCk7PzNBo&feature=fvst)

The game is Dark Heresy with an investigative style hunting down daemons, heretics and eldritch horrors so any suspensful music to build drama during investigations or scary music for when we're exposed to the creatures would be good as well as action-y music for the fight scenes.

Thanks

Well, you can never go wrong with O Fortuna (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hrML6s1wNHk) from Carl Orff's Camina Burana. It's the song that launched a thousand movie trailers.

The non-singing bits of any metal song (Nightwish is a personal favorite) do well, or if you're up for a bit less serious of a fight, the boss music from any Final Fantasy.

I don't use all-orchestral music in my games because too much of a good thing sometimes results in lackluster reactions. I mix in orchestral music, instrumental metal and techno (which works fine since I run Eberron).

Requiem for a Dream (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2Ma4BvMUwU) (The second half is slightly faster and more conducive for battle)

I compiled a list of the music I used in a campaign here. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showpost.php?p=7139406&postcount=163)

This one is my favorite. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_nYwHXJY-7s)

This orchestral mix of the last stage and last boss bgms of Touhou 12 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IgoFS3TlkLQ) is one of the best battle themes I've heard, though it's quite hopeful and heroic, so it probably wouldn't fit in a Dark Heresy game.

You May Call Me Father (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZmQm_PySHCk) from Bayonetta is another awesome theme for a great, dark battle, preferably fought falling from a miles-high skyscraper.

The final boss theme, The Greatest Jubilee (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QV3wFRy23cY), is just spectacular.

The Chosen ones (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPyBCDeFCck) by Dream evil. It's says "we killed the dragon" once in a while =) so we used it after we... say it with me kids... killed a dragon!

Anything by Midnight Syndicate for the spooky hours when you need a creepy atmosphere. They have an entire album dedicated to D&D and the like. Some heroic music in there as well.

Music by Stratovarius is nice too =)

Edit: Battle in the forgotten city (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7bCHWftjJRg) from Final Fantasy: Advent Children. Listen to this and imagine an army of [insert antagonist] marching toward you, and tell me if you don't get the goosebumps =)

I have just discovered Juno Reactor - Navras (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t9qqLrdOzDg) and Mona Lisa Overdrive (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2fp8mYC5abE) are two of my favorites.

Epica has an album called "The Score," which is a collection of instrumental (and some choral) epic fantasy music. See Angel of Death (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Fw6XV_Ty80&feature=related) for an example.

Check out this guy's site. Quite a few samples there, and he's done music for TV, movies, and video games.

Hmm... where to start:
1. Yoshida Brothers (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1fTbDJiyrM) (for less severe fights at least).
2. Clannad (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NYD1xy7zKR8) (this one is good for a pre-battle build-up).
3. Hans (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oI_mDPIj4IA&feature=related) Zimmer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-QjuEWsdgEc&feature=related) (most precisely The Dark Knight soundtrack).
4. Basil (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F3cL0Y2oE4k) Poledouris (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tTho790_Yl8) (more of him later).
4. If 70's are in, then you can't miss with those: 1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HcLD_nLp-bg&feature=related), 2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ocB_wO1qO-o&feature=related), 3 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kylWMgUKE80&feature=related), 4 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_P7_jSDF9yw&feature=related).

There's also just about any version of Dies Irae, i.e. "we need some latin sounding thing for this game intro".

Just chanting (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-fMHms5Cvsw&feature=related), or Mozart's version. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zI6i447ldKg&feature=related) There's probably a few hhundred more versions around.

Especially fitting because 40k is very fond of it's Pseudo-latin.

Stravinsky's Rite of Spring.
It's the music that inspired John Williams's Star Wars soundtrack.

It depends on what type of atmosphere you're going for, but the Saw theme song is pretty tense.

Yeah, but that one's been done to death. Try Agnus Dei by X-Ray Dog. Found one on youtube, just ignore the random anime montage...

I'll just post my entire 8 hour battle playlist. It's mostly orchestral music, classical masterpieces and soundtracks by Howard Shore and Hanz Zimmer along with a few lesser know ones. There are a few rock songs by Muse and Iggy Pop and a good dose of spaghetti western soundtracks by Ennio Morricone too.

I have other less dramatic playlists with jazz and chamber music.
