Shinedown: Are they Southern Rock?

A query for any other Shinedown fans in the Playground: would you consider them, to be in part, southern rock?

Personally, I would say yes; they covered Simple Man for goodness sake.

Post-Grunge, I'd say. I'm not actually a fan though, so I'm going off what I know of them. They're Southern and Rock, but not really Southern Rock. Also, covers don't actually mean anything about what genre a band is. For example, this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8QJmI_V3j4) song by Sade was covered by Beachwood Sparks (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J2l3FY6K2IE), and whatever you want to say Sade is, Beachwood Sparks is not the same genre.
