So, a friend of mine is playing a ranger in our current game, and today she complained, that combat is too monotonous for her taste. She is archery focused and all she does all combat is to throw a d20 and a d8 if she hits.

I Know there are a few homebrewed martial disciplines around and I'm interested if you know where to find them? Also, can you just slap one onto an existing ranger? Or should anything be removed in order to balance things out? And what metod should she use for recovering expended maneuvers?

Since you're asking where to find homebrew material, might I suggest you ask in the Homebrew Design (d20 and RPG) (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=15) forum?

Sublime Way Ranger (http://community.wizards.com/go/thread/view/75882/19519074/Sublime_Way_Variant_Ranger) is quite fair balance-wise. Just take Falling Star and replace it with the ranged discipline of your choice. There's a few lying around the Playground and of course, the Falling Star itself exists too (but it's magical so I prefer alternatives). Iron Rain (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?p=8103297#post8103297) comes to mind, for example.
