I'm not sure. I'm actually surprised they didn't lampshade the hiatus in the toon. Whenever they take a long break, it's usually lampshaded in the first new toon.

No, seriously, I used Homestar Runner in my Studio Thesis. The College's Outstanding Achievement in Art 2010 Award Winning Studio Thesis. I had heard that the Brothers Chaps went on extended hiatus due to childbirth and family issues, then someone got involved in making a movie and also there was that poker game coming out. I'm not watching it until everyone comes back from work, so we can all watch it together like all campy holiday specials should be watched.

That's why this probably "the first new toon" but a one-off holiday toon that shows that they haven't forgotten how to use Flash.

All the same, this is an ever nicer Decemberween present than a space show DVD.

i believe there was some issue with their baby
2 of them (the voice guy and marzipans voice) are married and trying to raise a family, so i guess we can cut the m a little slack
but still 8 depressing months :(

Eh, the hremails were cool in a meta sorta way while they lasted, but the premise was already feeling a little thin. Sbemails are classic; that's what we need more of, always. Just my two-cents.

I think that a lot of the site turned that way. I agree with a previous poster that Teen Girl Squad was excellent, but the last few were far more forced than the rest. I don't know that the quality dropped so much as that the bar kept getting moved higher. I can respect that they decided that the tank was empty, although it would have been friendlier if they had announced it instead of leaving their fans to check the site once a week for updates.

That, I think is the primary problem with HR: no communication with the fans whatsoever.

I just love how surreal Teen Girl Squad was even compared to the rest of Homestar Runner. The over generalizations, discontinuity, the surreal deaths; I know everyone loves ARROW'D! but I think my favorite death was when one of the characters got runner over by a truck labels CHILDREN and then Strong Bad exclaimed CHILDREN'D!

Let's hope there's another update Monday/some time this week.

I can't believe that Homestar's back! It's been so long. I admit, I almost lost hope that the site would ever update again.

When I saw ween costumes, I assumed it would be just Strong Bad doing commentary about fan costumes. I guess this is a sort of make up for no Halloween toon. Let's hope they still update weekly.
