So, I was bored and going through Sandstorm, and what do I see when I'm flipping through weapons? A whip that does 1d43 damage! I mean, sure, it's non-lethal only ... except on a crit.

Don't really have much to say from there, just felt like pointing out something amusing.

Yeah, it's been known for a while. I think it's one of those that gets more attention than it deserves, no one plays it as 1d43, it'd be a pain in the butt to roll that. It's a good laugh once but that's about it. Besides, it doesn't even do that much damage. It's not like you can power attack with it too.

Heh, that's pretty funny alright. I wonder how many other typos it's possible to find in source and splat books.
Ok, somebody help me get up. I'm laughing too hard to do it on my own.

I'm pretty sure Swordsages get 6+int modx6 skills on level 1 as well.

Well it's great for forum games. And as one handed weapons, you can dual wield them!

Whips are one handed weapons you can power attack with them and even wield them in two hands. Not that I would. With that much damage already it would be worse to miss from a low attack bonus than to add a couple more points :smalltongue:. Or grab shocktrooper and the build an ubercharger that beats others by 13 damage using "RAW".

I heard somewhere that a monk's unarmed strike does 1d33 damage. Not sure which printing run had that listed, but that's what I've heard elsewhere on this forum.

There are a few errors like that in my PHB also, including whips. Funny that it's in Sandstorm too. Must have been carried over. I've alos wondered if it was supposed to be a footnote.

That's always been my favorite part. The scorpion whip in Sandstorm, a completely different weapon modeled after the whip, also deals that painful amount.

It's merely a failed superscript. I've seen that happen before.

In a similar vein, there's the Vigilante's 33 level 3 spells per day - and a blank in the level 4 column.

Yeah, but then you'd never want to take the next level in Vigilante, because then you lose your 33 third level spells ...

Actually, that typo continues down the entire column. The progression goes 0, 1, 20, 31, 32, 33, and the 33 is at class level 10.

Oh god, please don't actually use that typo with your DM ... as much as these typos are amusing, I hope no one actually tries to use them ...

the vigilante in CA gets 20, 31, 32, 33 third level spells at 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th levels respectively

EDIT: Swordsage'd
Sorry guys... I left the window open and ran some errands before coming back and seeing I'd forgotten to finish it...

In the first run of Pathfinder, (in Pathfinder, starting score is 10) a 9 ability score actually cost you something.

To be fair, there is almost no other reason to use Vigilante. It's only third level spells from a Paladin/Ranger-type list anyway.

I wouldn't mind summoning 33 celstial hippogriffs a day ...

Technically speaking, barring errata, they are RAW. Seriously, if people are going to drown people to heal them, heal undead on a strongly aligned Positive Energy Plane, then using this is a shoe in.

In the Draconomicon, while comparing the Mountain and Swamp Landwyrms, I discovered that the mighty Mountain Landwyrm deals an amazing 4d18 damage with it's bite!

In Sword & Fist (3.0), you had an awesome exotic weapon ever: Fullblade, two-handed, 2d8 damage, critical x4.
Arms and Equipment corrects the critical to 19-20/x2, I think. x4 was supposed to be only the "mercurial" swords in S&F (mercurial great sword, two-handed, 2d6 damage, critical x4, also exotic). Goliath's Greathammer has the same stats, added +2 to sunder rolls.

I just glued together two d10s so I can use this. It works! I think.

In OA the ninja-to has a crit chance of 19-29. This really doesn't affect a character normally, since you can't roll higher than a 20 anyway, but if you take improved critical or get a keen ninja-to you now have a weapon that crits on a 7 and above.

I recall the katana being printed in a 3.0 splatbook as 1d10 with 19-20/x3 crits. Sword and Fist also had a weapon with 17-20 crits.

I've always been partial to the concealment rule from Player's Handbook 3.5

"Multiple concealment conditions (such as a defender in a dog and under the effect of a blur spell) do not stack."

As per the DMG, page 304: "An immunity or resistance to fire serves as an immunity to lava or magma."

So, fire resistance 1 grants total immunity to lava.

I recall the katana being printed in a 3.0 splatbook as 1d10 with 19-20/x3 crits.

That's nothing. The Minotaur Greathammer, as per RAW, is 1d12 | 19-20/x4. The reprint of similar statistics as the Goliath Greathammer (1d10 | x4) has a different name, so, according to RAW, they are different exotic weapons.
