The Hohlenbewohner
The Hohlenbewohner (Plural: Hohlenbewohners) are humanoids resembling albino halflings, if halflings were Underdark dwelling savages.

Personality: Hohlenbewohners tend to be jaded, due to living in near uninhabiltal conditions. Despite this, many try stay on the optimistic side of life, after all how much worse could it get?

Physical Description: They look like albino halflings crossed with a goblin that was starving to death. They do indeed posses eyes, however they are entirely useless, being vestigial. They have pointed ears and pig-like snouts. Many are also surprised at their ability to detect lies with a much greater accuracy than most.

Alignment: Hohlenbewohners tend to be either chaotic neutral or lawful neutral, depending on if the individual lives in a tribe or not. Most do not make a stance on the moral axis, as they are too busy trying not to die.

Hohlenbewohners Lands: Hohlenbewohners live in scattered tribes throughout the underdark, or as slaves in the cities of Drow or Grey Dwarves.

Religion: Most Hohlenbewoners tend to worship gods of natural disasters or other gods that represent the unpleasant side of nature.

Racial Traits

+2 Dexterity, -2 Strength, -2 Constitution.
Small size. +1 bonus to Armor Class, +1 bonus on attack rolls, +4 bonus on Hide checks, -4 penalty on grapple checks, lifting and carrying limits ¾ those of Medium characters.
A Hohlenbewohner's base land speed is 10 feet
+8 racial bonus on Listen checks. A Hohlenbewohner can always take 10 on a listen check, even if it is threatened or otherwise endangered.
+2 racial bonus on Sense Motive Checks.
Soundsight: Whenever a Hohlenbewohner would normally make a spot check, it instead makes a listen check and treats it as a spot check with the following exceptions. It cannot tell what color something is, or any details besides it's general shape and where whatever it "sees" is.
Scent
Light Sensitivity: If a Hohlenbewohner spends more than one round in direct sunlight or the equivalent (such as a daylight spell), they become shaken
Automatic Languages: Undercommon
Bonus Languages: Dwarven, Elven, Gnome, Goblin, Orc.
Favored Class: Rogue or Wilder, depending on which they have a higher level in.

Comments: This race was mostly born from me reading up on troglobites and wanting to see if a blind PC race was viable without using blindsense.

That light sensitivity is painful. A 1st level Hohlenbewohner (yay copy-pasta!) can only spend, what, a maximum of 18 rounds in sunlight (if you're a barbarian/warblade who put an 18 into Con and took Toughness, and each nonlethal damage die came up 1). That's...pretty crippling.

Yeah, maybe you want to change Light Sensitivity to: if a Hohlenbewohner spends more than one round in direct sunlight or the equivalent (such as a daylight spell), they become shaken.

Oh, hey, morlocks.

But seriously, light sensitivity doing nonlethal damage is nuts. Have it sicken them instead, that'd fit better.

Also, the race doesn't have a lot of bonuses to make up for its blindness. Its listen checks aren't good enough to exactly locate an enemy, and scent requires an action to pinpoint someone, after which they still have total concealment.

Fixed.

Would allowing them to use a swift or free action to pinpoint someone with scent make up for the complete blindness?

A swift action probably works best, though that is still a 50% miss chance. There's not much way around that without actually giving them blindsight, though.

What about giving them an ability to the effect of "Whenever a Hohlenbewohner would normally make a spot check, it may make a listen check instead and treat the result as if it were a spot check"?

Improved Scent [General]
Prerequisites: Hohlenbewohner, first level
Benefits: A Hohlenbewohner, using scent, can pinpoint any creature as a swift action
Normal: This normally requires a standard action using scent.

Natural Psionics [Psionic]
Prerequisites: Wild Talent Feat,Hohlenbewohner
Benefits: Can choose one level power from the psion power list to be able to manifest 1/day. This feat can be taken multiple times, and each time it applies to a different power.

Stone Sense[General]
Prerequisites: Hohlenbewohner
Benefits: This feat grants a Hohlenbewohner a +2 racial bonus on Search checks to notice unusual stonework, such as sliding walls, stonework traps, new construction (even when built to match the old), unsafe stone surfaces, shaky stone ceilings, and the like. Something that isn’t stone but that is disguised as stone also counts as unusual stonework. A Hohlenbewohner who merely comes within 10 feet of unusual stonework can make a Search check as if he were actively searching, and a Hohlenbewohner can use the Search skill to find stonework traps as a rogue can. A Hohlenbewohner can also intuit depth, sensing his approximate depth underground as naturally as a human can sense which way is up.

I have no idea wethe you know german or not.
Please excuse my Name hating.
Due to missing letters it should be approximated as Hoehlenbewohner (and the plural is the same word as its only denoted in the corresponding article in german)

I'm not, I just put the phrase "Cave Dweller" into Google translate. I have always wanted to learn german though.
