I could swear i remember some metamagic or something that increases the duration by a step. You know, 1round/level to 1min/level to 10min/level to 1hour/level.
Extend spell isn't quite right, but is there something else I'm missing?

I'm pretty sure there's not, unless it's 3rd party or Dragon Magazine material.

That sounds familiar to me, so perhaps it is from a Dragon issue. Hopefully someone else will know? It sure would be better than Extend.

I recall a third party feat called Lingering Spell or Lasting Spell doing something like this. Maybe the Brilliant Gameologists (http://brilliantgameologists.com/boards/index.php?board=9.0) would tell you.

Looked it up and Lasting Spell is a feat from Mongoose publishing. Not in the SRD or anything, but it has been created.
Bleh. That makes things harder.

What was the spell level adjustment on that?

Almost positive it's in Complete Divine... let me check.
Never mind, I was thinking about casting times, which would be Rapid Spell.

One of Brilliant Gameologist's suggested fixes to the Persistent Spell feat is to instead make it increment up steps at the cost of +2 slot adjustment as the OP described. This is probably where the idea is coming from.
