Sorry about any horrible misspellings in the title, I'm away from book.

Anyway, Alacritous Cogitation allows one to cast any arcane spell they know from an unprepared slot once per day, with a prereq of preparing arcane spells. A factotum essentially "knows" the entire Sorc/Wiz spell list. Does it qualify to use Alacritous Cogitation for its highest level slot, which it only has one per day of anyway? Does that mean that it can cast any single Sorc/Wiz spell once per day? Is that good?

Factota don't actually have any spell slots, or actually any spellcasting at all, so they don't qualify for anything that involves casting spells. Sorry.

Well, the prereq is "Must prepare arcane spells." At the beginning of the day, it prepares spells, no? Unless their SLA status disbars them from that?

Just to clarify on the reason behind Caphi's statement (which is correct): a Factotum's ability is (by RAW) a spell-like ability, not an actual spell. Thus, they have neither spell slots nor spell casting, and do not qualify for feats requiring such as prerequisites.

Technically, Factotums do not have spell slots and cannot cast spells, but do "prepare spells." Yes, really. Look it up. It says the Factotum may "prepare spells."

(Yes, the actual writing of the Factotum class is terrible, even though the game design principles behind it are good.)

To answer the OP, the Alacritous Cogitation combo technically still won't work, as the Factotum does not "know" any spells by RAW.

Except metamagic feats, which are explicitly called out as working. For some reason that makes absolutely no sense.
