How do I check when I got my computer?

I have an old Macbook that used to be my dad's but I can't remember when he gave it to me. Is there a way that I can find how long it's been since I got it without taking anything apart or anything?

files will often have a "date modified" section under the details view. You may be able to estimate how long ago it was by looking through your older files - or if his are still on there by looking to see how recent his are.

Are you using a different account than he did? If so, the creation date of your account's profile folder should tell you exactly when you got the machine--I don't know exactly where to find that on a Mac, though!

If you have an email account configured, you could check the date of your first mail received, or if you save the conversations of msn, Skype, ecc. , try to find the oldest logs.
