You wake to find yourselves in a small room. The room is dark. Bralk can clearly see that the room is 30ft wide and 45 feet long. There is a wooden door on the wall to your right. There is an unlit lantern in the middle of the room, and in the air is a strange smell that none of you can place.

Note: Until there is any light source, only Bralk can see anything. It is pitch black to anyone else.

I pick up the lantern, and give it to Ento Fip.

"What the..." Fip gets to his feet is confusion. "Where in the nine hells am I?" he says as he fails to survey the dark room. Feeling a object shoved into his arms, he runs his hands briefly over it, judging it to be a lamp. "I hope it has oil..." he mutters, pulling out some flint and steel to light it.

The lantern flickers to life, revealing the features of the room to those of you without darkvision. The walls are hewn out of solid rock and smoothed.

The lantern has (1d4-1 = 3) a good amount of oil in it, Fip estimates 3 hours worth.

Fip shines the lantern around the room, looking to see what's around.

Fip can see the extent of the room, and its relative emptiness (save for the crowd of four people and some dogs). The wooden door catches Fip's eye. It takes a moment for him to figure out what is odd about it. It seems to not have hinges.

John Cribati

I only know of one way to open a door without hinges.

He readies his axe, but first puts his ear to the door to see if he can hear anything on the outside.

Bralk can hear someone in armor moving around on the other side. There is a male voice talking to himself, but you cannot make out what is being said.

John Cribati

I take 20 to make sure that he's the only one I hear.

Fenwick was trying his best to be patient. He wasn't very good at patience. Fire? No problem. Breaking stuff? He's your man. But sitting? Waiting? Keeping his mouth shut? Not so much.

So around the time Bralk decided to sit in front of the damn door for fifteen days without doing anything he decided he was about done with that.

"Seriously?" he said, jumping up and down on the balls of his feet. "Can we just bust it down and get going? There isn't even anything flammable in here! Almost nothing."

He eyed the lantern as he spoke, maybe thinking how much fun it would be to smash it on the floor and watch the fire spread...

Seeing as the four of us woke up in a dark room in a place that we don't know, and the only way out is to bust down this door. I want to be as prepared as possible for what's out there.

After a very long time waiting and listening, the single person is all Bralk hears.

Fenwick's face screwed up into sour expression. He made a little harumphing sound deep in his throat. He crossed his arms and shurgged his shoulders and kicked at a small stone.

"Prepared," he sniffed as though it were a bad word, "The Barbarian wants to be prepared? Whatever."

And he plopped himself down on the floor, frowning and muttering to himself, and gave the small white rat on his shoulder a raisin from his belt pouch.

"Let's bust it down then." Fip calls to the dogs to "guard", sets the lamp on the ground, and prepares his spear.

Fenwick jumps up so fast that the rat almost falls off his shoulder and needs to cling to his robe for dear life.

"All right, Fip!" he says, his face alive with glee, "That's what I'm talking about! I don't care what Ento says about you, I say you're okay."

And then he starts giggling as Bralk assaults the door.

The greataxe puts a huge gash in the door, and the frame seems to splinter a bit, but the door is still there.

Fip's at D8.

"Some tough guy you are," says Fip. "That door barely quivered!"

Since I'm attacking the door, I'd logically be at E10.

Bralk blushes slightly at Fip's comment.
I'm just... warming up.

He takes another swing.

The second axe slash batters through the door. Beyond is a large room, 45ft long and 30ft wide. The ceiling here is 5ft above your head (10ft total), like the last room. There are three wooden doors in the room (besides the one you bashed down), two to your left and one to your right. Oddly enough there is a loom in the middle of the room, and standing by it is an elf in scale mail armor. He has a sword in his hand and seems ready to fight you.

"What is the meaning of this!" he yells as you bash through the door.

Well, that is... odd.

Fenwick searches around for anything else odd, while the elf is left puzzled. He doesn't seem to know whether he should hack you all to pieces, or make polite conversation.

Duke of URL

"Um... er... sorry for the intrusion," says Fip, "but we were kind of trapped in there. Can you tell us where we are, exactly? It does seem like an odd place for a loom."

"I was wondering that myself. I awoke here a few hours ago. I'm almost afraid to touch anything, who knows what sort of devious traps could be built into every bit of flooring and every door."

Hearing the Elf's voice, Fenwick stops looking for odd things and pushes forward until he's right beside Fip. He peers around the human's legs into the other room.

"Don't trust 'im," he says in a stage whisper so loud it could probably be heard in the next dungeon, "He's got to be in league with them. Just woke up in some random dungeon? Pfft. What are the odds of that happening?"

He nods to himself in what he thinks is a sagacious fashion.

Duke of URL
2011-01-13, 11:31 AM
"Yeah. because, it's not like that sort of thing has ever happened to anyone we know." It does not take a sense motive check to note the sarcasm. "Of course, you're right that we have no reason to trust him, but likewise he has no reason to trust us." He turns to the elf. "How about we have a nice, pleasant, heavily-armed conversation while Ento checks things out to see if it's safe?"

tigerusthegreat

The elf says nothing but also doesn't lower his sword.

Duke of URL
2011-01-13, 01:08 PM
"We don't want to hurt you... well, maybe Fenwick does, but he's like that to everyone... if we don't have to. We just want to get out of here. As long as we all stay civil, we can just deal with this peacefully and nobody gets hurt."

"So," Fip continues casually, though keeping his spear at the ready, "how long have you been here?"

tigerusthegreat
2011-01-13, 01:17 PM
"At least the last day. I was with a few of my friends when we made camp for the night. I awoke for my guard shift and found myself here instead. And you four? How have you come here, and is there an escape through the room you were in?"

John Cribati
2011-01-13, 07:11 PM
Bralk lowers his axe to ensure the elf that he means no harm. Then he leans against the wall while this all gets sorted out.

*Move to B12 and stay there while this whole business gest sorted out.

"We just woke up a few minutes ago. And no, it's a dead end."

tigerusthegreat

"Then I am afraid I am no use to you and you none to me. I will remain here waiting for my friends to find me or to wake from this nightmare. I wish you luck finding an exit."

Duke of URL
2011-01-14, 11:12 AM
"I wish you the best of luck in finding your way out of here, then. We, on the other hand, are resolved to move forward, as soon as Ento finishes checking for any nasty surprises," Fip replies.

tigerusthegreat

Fenwick searches around for anything peculiar in the room, and finds nothing, besides the oddness of the elf and the loom he finds nothing else in the room.

tigerusthegreat
2011-01-17, 09:38 PM
The elf still seems very uneasy around you four. Given there is no exit in the room you woke in, you have the choice of three wooden doors, or waiting in this room with the loom for enternity.

John Cribati

tigerusthegreat
2011-01-18, 10:27 AM
Ento manages to slip in front of Bralk and stop his axe blow. Working quickly, the lock clicks, and the door is unlocked.

Beyond the door is a 25ft wide corridor that extends 10ft to the right, ending in a wooden door. The ceiling here is higher, 20ft above your head. The corridor extends to the left past your vision. In the corner to the right cowers another elf in robes.

Directly accross from where you have entered is a stone shelf built into the wall. It seems to have been some sort of shrine, some destroyed writing and broken candles are apparent under a pile of broken stones. Also scattered on the shelf are damaged cards, and a pair of chipped dice. There seems to have been an oil jar on the shelf as well, but all that remains is the ring of dried oil.

"Please don't hurt me." this elf says...maybe the whole dungeon is full of nothing but elves.

"Your choices then seem to be the long corridor, or the door. Or back the way you've come." The elf fades to smoke and disappears.

Fenwick gives out a small, girlish yell and leaps back a step when the elf disappears. And then his face pinches up. "It's like my mother always said: never trust nothing can't decide on a gender. I say we go hit the long corridor."

dragonsamurai77

Agreed.

Ento searches the corridor.

Taking 10 gives me 16.
