I don't know about you, but i built my guy more around throwing up fog clouds and blasting what i hear running in the clouds/ coming out of the clouds. so i lean towards throwing a fog cloud over the stairs and bashing in what comes up first. let me know what you think about it.

I think I'd like to move rather aggressively and harpoon Jim and maybe intercept beast. It's not like he can hit me without much luck anyway. Beating up meleers with a ranged build is fun :smallamused: Plus, I want to test out the tactical possibilities the tilting gives

I wanted to say I meant the spell, not the psipower, but in fact there is no spell equivalent. Strange, I was sure there was a cleric1 spell with the same effect
Jim is dangerous for me, his fire bypasses my defenses. So I'll harpoon him first chance, maybe charge into melee too as long as I'm not entangled. I should be able to tank Beast for quite a while

alright, go south or north? Since they'll advance too I think the confrontation will get heated starting turn 2, so we should go south to be on the high side

i just noticed the constant strong wind on the boat, thats gonna dispel my fog bank instantly whenever i use it. so i don't think ive got anything left to get them to comve to us, we can either jsut bum it out on outside sitting in cover, or else were gonna have to hazard a trip across the boat to theirs, when we get to them (in either case) i think we should try to take out Sparta first, hes got crap for saves, and my breath attack could potentially knock him to a very manageable level if he gets hit by it. as fir rai, I think once fallen's massive damage potential is knocked out we should have less trouble with Rai. So should we sit back by the two staircases and see if they come to us?

also, damage on the Entangling is halved, you can't just change the d6 to d3 to represent that
d6/2 averages 1,75(without rounding). d3 averages 2

With rounding down, you have the following
1-3 become 1
4 and 5 become 2
6 becomes 3
for an average of 1,67

few things.
1. i don't think you get flanking since Rai is using a spear from a 10 foot distance, Rai gets flanking due to you being there, but not both ways. (not that it matters in this case, still a miss)
2.I also get an AOO im using a spear (as you pass from P9-P8 (though im worse off then beast is on that haha).

the beautiful thing about this map with team matches is that unconscious characters become objects and thus would be affected by the rolling. Could get very entertaining when someone tries to heal his downed teammate :smalltongue:

at -7
comments on map id say the rocking boat motion while interesting, starts to become a book keeping affair as the round goes on. might just get to be a hassle, though i like the having to think ahead on where your going.

you should have kept firing on me I think, Rai can patch up again with Vigor, I was on 6 HP with no healing left. I'd have gone down soon. SPARTA is ridiculously tough with AC 25, DR2 and Block Arrow, but your breath weapon bypasses all my defenses

Speaking of which do you think entangling exhalation stacks on a target damage wise, could i have 2+ ticking damage amounts on someone? or would it just renew the duration?

I also forgot i had travel devotion at the start of the round, should have been doing hit and runs.

mainly though not being able to use my fog banks to get away from people was the painful part.

though on the other hand, going against sparta cuss gave me an idea on how to improve jim, trade in the light armor prficiency and being human for being a warforeged.

Warforged are nice for their immunities, yeah. Also, you always threaten thanks to the slam

hm, that was a fight on close quarters. darkillini had a disadvantage with the storm preventing a fog effect, and there is little cover from the map itself. Cadian said he'd prefer a bit more cover on the map to the very open battlefield as it is now. I'll have to think about it

I actually had an idea on that, if you made the upper deck walls(the red ones) provide cover from the lower areas and stairs, that would make 3 large areas for combat, and each of those could still be interacted with by other areas. This might provide the cover that he is looking for.

For instance the upper deck area could shoot down at the lower area, but be shot at from across the map still.

might make it so that if you go prone on the upper area you gain concealment, but not if your standing. I mean the +2AC and +1 reflex is nice, but with the amount of min maxing that gets done in the arena i feel like just flat cover might be preferable.

actually, the higher deck does have cover from the lower deck, ballustrade or not. It's because of the height difference of 10 feet. Try to draw it, there'll be always corner the lower person(assuming medium size) has no LoE to, so there is cover

the stairs on the other hand are at +15, so people on the higher deck have no cover against someone on the stairs, but the +2 from the ballustrade

anyway, thank you guys for participating in the test. I myself am kinda satisfied for now with how the map works, though I think it works best for 1on1. For 2on2 the battlefield is just a bit too small I fear

After spectating this match, I don't have any comments on playability, but I do have one on the map itself. Every time I look at it, my brain tells me the middle part is the higher part, probably because it's brighter. The ends look like they're in shadow.

Otherwise, I'm quite impressed :smallsmile:

really? Hm, you may have a point there. Fixing it may take a bit of time though since I'd have to make changes at the first design step to change the colours, then repeat the finetuning I did afterward. Still, if others feel the same way as you I should do it

I actually thought the same, at first. I think an easier fix than recolouring the floor might be to simply recolour the balustrade so that it stands out more from the stairs.
