An item to locate powerful spellcasters, an item to communicate with said spellcasters, and a potion of diplomacy...preferably on par with glibness.:smallwink:

Although Drizztfan pretty much nailed it, I'll have a go. A logging vehicle, one of the huge sixteen wheelers, to evacuate the citizens. A supply of gasoline, so I can keep on driving, and several barrels of holy water.

My Iphone with my twitter app. If we're all going to die in a zombie invasion, at least I get to tweet about it.:smallannoyed:

A ten foot pole, some rope and a small mirror.

Because I'll be far away from the zombie apocalypse, diving into dungeons. Dungeons and Dragons is not about zombies :smallwink:

This makes no sense. Why would you be told about a zombie army going to invade a town in a D&D world? Why would you go there but only able to bring 3 things with you? Why is this town so important? Why do the zombies want to destroy this town in the first place? Why are you the only one who can stop this?

...

Oh, a wizard did it?

Well, ok then.

Can I bring 3 wizards? That would be helpful.

Can I bring 3 wizards? That would be helpful.Sorry, no billion buck super lazers. :smalltongue:

I'd take a book, a flashlight to read the book and some rope, because you're always going to need rope.

Unless this counts as a "billion buck super laser"... this is exactly what you wanted to avoid

1. Starmantle cloak (BOED 116, okay it *is* 132k)
2. Zombie Bait
3. A good book

The Cloak will make me impervious to nomagical weapon damage and, depending on how you read it, makes natural weapons and maybe unarmed strikes zombie body parts vaporize when they hit me. If they deal negative levels, replace 3 with Ring of negative protection (36k).

Non-Munchkin-y items (assuming slow, mindless zombies):

1. Zombie disguises to distribute to self and townsfolk.
2. Baseball bats.
3. Lots of caffeine, sluggin' all those zombies gets tiring after a while.

There are only three essential things that you need to defend any town, village, or castle from a zombie attack.

1. You'll need a car
2. You're also going to need a book about science
3. A boomstick:smallcool:

Note: Lack of hand, and chainsaw/gauntlet replacement sold separately.

Force

Simple.

1) One (1) semi-trailer filled with M2 machine guns, along with maintenance tools, additional barrels, etc.

2) One (1) semi-trailer filled with .50cal incendiary ammunition in the form of continuous linked belts.

3) As #2 above.

No human zombie is going to survive 50-cal bullets. Especially not if said bullets are frickin' explosive. And even more so when there are several hundred people firing them.

An item that allows me to command or rebuke undead

A Dark Skull

A suitably evil set of clothing

What, I don't want to defend the town. All I see are free zombies. Which I can use as meat shields until I become a dread necro.

I played this campaign once. I took a rifle. It was freaking awesome.

However, if this were limited to things I own, it would be a handgun, since I don't actually own a rifle. I could grab that and the 1500 rounds/spare mags with it in....oh, about five seconds. I will consider the case and contents to be one object.

Next, I will grab my laptop. It's unlikely that I'll be able to charge it, but it's always plugged in, has all the D&D pdfs on it, and will last for about nine hours of use. I have most stuff memorized anyhow, but it's damned useful.

I will then grab my car, and hope it's full on gas. If I have time, I'll fill it up.

Then I will ride through fantasy land, shooting things for xp.
