As you sit around inside The Lucky Lute, you suddenly hear a small commotion coming from outside. Seconds later, a scream rips through the small tavern, as a young man dressed in the armor of the king, rushes in and starts yelling.

I am Sir Avalon Linst, I am a warrior of the King's Army. We have Harson Doyle in custody. He has already killed 8 of my men. I must bring him back to my lands, I ask is anyone here capable of helping me with such a task?

While he does seem rude in his speech, you can't help but feel pity for the fellow. Harson Doyle was a name you had heard for a while now. A man who's name did bring fear to most of the general populace. He was known for murdering anyone who wouldn't give him their gold. A murderer, a thief, and if the stories were true, an occultist as well. You decide to offer your assistance, as you do so, you see a few others do so as well.

"Observation. You did not mention which lands these were, what state you desire the one known of as Harson Doyle to be in when transported to said unnamed lands, or the logic behind why he must be brought there."

With these words, spoken in a voice like steel scraping across silk, a tall, mostly featureless entity, who seems to be crafted entirely out of quicksilver, stands apparently facing the young lad.

The man looks at you, with a glare to his eyes. His voice no longer seems pleading, not it seems angry.
"I'm a warrior of the King's Army. My land is Kiralyi Ver, the only land known as the King's Land. And it's Harson Doyle, the man has killed at least two dozen innocent people. He will go to stand trial for his crimes, in Kiralyi Ver.

Ezreal stands up out of his chair, he has a great look of disdain in his eyes at the mentioning of his former homeland. Internal conflict raging through his head, whether to follow his step-father's path or to deny this pleading man and perhaps deny him of his very life...

Ezreal slowly moves towards the man taking care, for he seems to be slightly edgy, and if anything bi-polar. You can't blame the guy on the other hand, he just witnessed 8 of his men killed by a criminal. He has made his decision, this man did not take his family away from him... The king did.

"You need not take an aggressive tone with us... My sword is yours if you so need it..."

Ezreal unsheathes his rapier, and nods his head reassuringly towards the knight.
He beckons for him to lead on after looking back towards the group of patrons.

"Why not? If we help we'll most likely be paid in return for our services. Gems and gold and the like?"

Ezreal tries to peak their interest with the mention of monetary compensation. He, himself, would fight for the man just because he was in need of assistance. Though Ezreal knows his own bounds, and thought that asking for the group of patron's help with this dangerous criminal that had already killed a group of men could help end the fight with little to no casualties...

"A just cause. What are his methods, so we may better know the method to assist you, holy warrior of House Linst?"

At the voices of the others, the creature ***** its head slightly, seeming confused. He lets his cloak slide off, and fully stands, head now scraping the ceiling.

"I would give you my name, but my creator never gave me one, and I have not found one that suits me. You may call me Construct, if it suits you, though it is not a proper name. However, I must wonder, who are you else that would also assist this man in justice?"

Creatures. This was certainly an odd bar she had taken solace in, and not fit for a Lady with unusual people barging in and announcing things. She swirled a glass of the finest wine she had managed to find here and took a slip.

Kiralyi Ver was where this man, semi-familiar in his expensive armor, was from and returning to. She idly wondered how many poor farmers that armor could feed if the King used his money differently, but let it pass. It seemed her homeland would not stop chasing her.

But it wasn't the soldiers fault, he simply needed assistance.

"I wonder what manner of man could kill eight of the King's Soldiers." Elizabeth mumbled, making no move to join. This didn't involve her and what could she do anyway? A simple girl with a title was all she was..

Yes it isn't part of your quest, leave them to be slaughtered..

Was that thought her own? The beautiful young girl bit her bottom lip with hesitation. Had she changed enough that helping someone was considered out of the way for her? Even back to Kiralyi Ver, a place she swore to never return..

"I will help you in any way I can to put this menace away." She said meekly, standing in her dress and jewelry and placing her hands together in front of her before walking over.

Finding some travlers brave enough to help him, Avalon seemed to relax. While they didn't seem like the strongest of company he could have found, they were at least willing to help. Two made of metal, a girl who looked like she belonged in a castle, and the final one, he seemed like a warrior of sorts.

"Thank you, kind travlers. While I am in the debt of you all, I must urge us to make haste. Doyle's two lieutenants were able to escape my platoon last night. They may come for their commander. The border is still within reach by nightfall, and once we cross it his lieutenants wouldn't dare follow us. So I must ask we go now.

Feeling upet with himself for being rude, Avalon hoped that the travlers would still assist him. And he hoped that they would agree to move out soon.

A smile grows on Ezreal's face as he realizes that he is not alone in facing this criminal. He looks back at the group of volunteers with an accepting look is his eyes. Although he looks strangely at Elizabeth.

"I knew there were at least some decent people in here, let's wrap this up quickly shall we?" He turns towards Elizabeth with a questioning look in his eyes "Although, you young miss. Are you sure you are up to this? I may be judging by looks, excuse me if I am wrong but, you don't seem like the... fighting type of person."

A soft blush creep up on her cheeks as she was questioned by Ezreal. "I assure you, I am quite capable." She shot back, "Hopefully.."She mumbled brushing a strand of hair from her face. "I may not look it, but I have a few tricks up my sleeve." The girl assured the group before following them. Maybe she was just doing this for the good of her soul, but she hoped the few tricks she'd learned in the undercity of Kiralyi Ver would be enough and she wouldn't become a burden.

The knight, seems grateful for the extra help. He turns around and walks back out the way he came in. Motioning for the rest to follow him.

When you arrive outside, you see Avalon standing next to another man. The other man, who you can presume is Doyle glares at the group of you. His wrists bound by large metal cuffs, and his legs shackled together with a piece of chain only a few feet long in between the legs. Even like he currently is, he still seems as if he is in control of the situation.

Avalon looks at you all, before beginning to speak.
"This here is Doyle, one of the worst scumbags I have ever met. A man with no regard for life.

At such an introduction, Doyle simply beams at the rest of you.

Avalon walks to Doyle and secures a rope around the chain of his cuffs. Then take position of point. You see his hands begin to glow, he then raises his hand to his armor, and the glow distributes over the breastplate. He then begins to walk down the main road towards the town exit. As he starts to walk, he takes to opportunity to ask a question.
"I hope that none of you are wanted in the King's land. If any of you are, please speak up now."

As Sherman looks at the man in front of him two emotions come to him. Disgust at the horrible evils he has committed, the innocent people he has harmed. And Pity, for here is a man who will likely never find his path, never has his second chance. But such things are the realm of Jantex, and the best way to put this man on the route to meeting Jantex is to ensure that he is never able to return to his first life, a goal which will also help the people of this land.

Sherman checks his sword and shield and waits for the knight to lead the way. He doesn't speak in response to the question asked.

Constuct

Construct pauses, unsure for a moment, if the past affiliation of their creators would count towards being wanted in the King's Lands. Such thoughts are soon discarded, though, as such a passing of time would insure there is little fear of retribution.

"Doyle, what methods did you use? I can not imagine killing so many to be easy, especially trained soldiers. I am rather curious, also, as to what reason you found in such acts."

"You ever hear the way an King's boy screams when his entire folds up.. He screams good and loud, and I love it. I wouldn't mind spending some quality time with that one on my cutting table either..

Before anyone can realize what exactly is going on, Doyle has freed himself from the cuffs and shackles and moved a good 20 feet forward. Now he stares back at the group waiting to see what they will do.

Sherman acts quickly. Truth be told he had expected this from Doyle, just not this close to the border or late in the trip.

Quickly whispering a prayer to Jantex for Avalon Sherman moves towards Doyle carefully but quickly, drawing his sword as he moves. As Sherman nears Doyle he swings his sword in an efficient but divinely powered tactical strike while simultaneously positioning his feet in an offensive stance designed to prevent escape.

Move - Move to Doyle (yay for him only going 20' which is my move speed :P). Draw weapon as I go.
Swift - Initiate Thicket of Blades Stance (Any movement, including 5' shift, provokes AoO and threatened enemies can't withdraw)
Standard - White Raven Strike (+4d6, hit = enemy flat footed)
Attack: [roll0]
Damage: [roll1]+[roll2]+7

If he triggers an AoO going to try and use Stand Still (feat from XPH) to stop him.
Attack: [roll3]
If that hits he has to make a DC 10+[roll4] reflex save or immediately halt.

As Ezreal moves up to make his attack, it becomes apparent why Doyle waited until now to attack.. As Ezreal moves, another man appears within grasp of Ezreal. This new man however, had armor and a weapon. However, the weapon is currently worrying.. The glowing energy surrounding his hand though, that is worrying. Quickly two blasts of this energy are fired off, directly at Ezreal.

[roll0] Damage [roll1]
[roll2] Damage [roll3]

When construct moves up, an odd feeling overtakes it. As if some force had hindered it, against it's will. Take -8 AC, and -20 land speed

It seems as if the Doyle's ally had delayed joining the fight until Doyle was in need of his help. It also seemed Doyle had been ready for the interruption. As he used it to bring about a healing glow to his hands. In case everyone is wondering. The d3 roll was to see how planned the allies were.. Readied actions brought them into the fray when they did.. I'm unsure of how your guys attacks would be resolved.. Marix, I think your attack would still work against Doyle.. So that's a hit.. And then, yours would be a hit as well. Also, while both of you stand over him, he is tripped.. Now Phobia still gets her turn, and afterwards, Doyle and friends will act again. Then the PC's.. That way things stay simple actions wise.

Phobia hasn't posted.. I'm not stalling any longer, so for now, skip her.

Seeing the young pretty girl freeze up, brings a disturbed smirk to Doyle's face. Doyle decides to take advantage of the lull, and begin his onslaught.

The other construct of the group, the warforged now felt itself taken by the same feelings as the other construct.. Something, weakening it instantly..
Then a dark purple sphere of energy is unleashed from Doyle's hand directly at the other construct.
Binks: Take -8 AC and -20 Land Speed.
Now as for the attack against Vul,, [roll0] (8 left)
Damage is [roll1] Dex

The man who appeared in sight of everyone makes seems to disappear from Sherman's view. The chain strikes out at a blindspot..
Okay, I made a hide check, if I beat your AC, which I did(OOC thread) then your flatfooted for my next attack. So, also don't forget the -8. For reference this attack is aimed at Binks.
[roll2] Damage [roll3] + [roll4]

Lastly, from somewhere among the trees. Another vile blast of energy is launched.. The blast explodes in the center of you three, the constructs are able to dodge it's effects for the most part. The warforged was still caught in the blast however..

Sherman frowns as Doyle's confederates join the fight. He keeps his attention focused on Doyle, however, as Sherman believes him to be the linchpin to this fight. Taking a deep breath Sherman runs over the choice in his mind a dozen times, strike Doyle will all his might to try and end the fight quickly, or try and disable him and keep him alive. In the end it is the words of his new construct ally that persuade him, and Sherman strikes merely to wound and disable, not kill, but he strikes to draw Doyle's attention to himself, and the challenge he issues follows to the same effect).

Swift - Defensive Rebuke. If I hit him with an attack then if he attacks any of my allies he provokes an AoO from me.
Move - Convert to swift, issue a fighting challenge using one of my 7 knights challenges (+2 to atk/dmg and will saves against target for 6 rounds)
Standard - Divine Surge targeting Doyle, using smite to make it more likely I hit. Making attack non-lethal (-4 penalty factored in). And hoping I hit :P.

Attack (+12 normal, -2 sickened, +1 smite, -4 non-lethal +2 challenge = 9)
[roll0]
Damage [roll1] (base) + [roll2] (divine) + 1 (smite/challenge/sickened) = 34 (non-lethal)

Edit: +3 atk and non-lethal damage from furious counterstrike.

By the way, unless you're allowed to draw a sword and shield in a single draw (in which case I drew my shield as I moved towards Doyle and am designating him as the shield block target for +1 AC against him), I don't have it out right now, so my AC would be 22 (base-shield)-8=14. Just a heads up.

As she watched him her mouth turned into a surprised O shape. With Doyle and his group now seemingly long gone, your group stands in a huddle in the middle of a rather grim forest. The decision to take Avalon's body home is made. And so you all begin to travel towards Kiralyi Ver.

With a ponderous turn of its head, Construct stops and peers at Elizabeth questioningly.

"Why ARE you so eager to leave this realm? I do not mind it, but am curious. After all, if you dislike it I would be more than willing to find a new place to continue my travels. These green lands hold no end of wonder."

As the group decides to possibly see what the butler has to say, as if they don't like it. They can simply leave after that..

Timeskip

The three of you sit around a table within the tavern the butler mentioned. At precisely the stated time, the butler enters. First he walks to the bar and obtains a drink, next he walks to your table and seats himself.

"I'm quite glad you decided to hear me out. Now, what I'm speaking to you about, is all quite uncertain so far. I personally can't say much just yet, but you three had the decency to bring back Avalon after he died in combat. You had no need to bring him back and yet you did. To me, that says your good people. So, I'd like to offer you all a job.

Like I said, I believe something to be wrong with a noble family. The family in question is the Sethlyn family. The head of the family recently sent both his sons to war, and his daughter is to be married soon. That makes no sense from a noble's point of view. That family has long been thought involved with infernal matters, and I think they have corrupted the man.

The family owns an old house in the country. I'd like you all to go there and see what you can find for me, a payment of 300 gold I hope can cover the dangers.. So, will you?"

As he winds down, he drinks his entire glass in a single large gulp. Your all left wandering what to do

"What precisely do you want us to do?" Sherman asks, "As outsiders it's unlikely we would be given any information about the going ons of a noble house."

"You misunderstand, I want you to go to the house and investigate, see what you can find. It should be empty. I need you to look around for evidence of the family doing something infernal.

"Ah, my apologies. But why, may I ask, is the house empty?

The butler chuckles a little.
"It's a noble's away home. Something to stay in, when things in the capital are getting crazy. You know, a place to hide out. Since the whole family is currently still in the capital the house would be empty.

"I see" Sherman says, leaning back and nodding. He waits to see if anyone else wants to ask a question or make a comment.

"Actually, I do wonder, how does a Butler come across such a sum of money? It is my understanding that gold is something of a rarity in most professions, and many noble families do not pay their servants that much unless they have something they are attempting to hide."

"You said it yourself. In this land, everyone has something to hide, I happen to want you to discover what someone else wants to hide.

Sherman nods and turns to the others briefly. "It sounds like a perfectly reasonable task, I'd be happy to help." he says, waiting to see if his companions agree.

Another uncertain roil in the quicksilver surface of the being, and then it shakes its head for the benefit of his companions.

"I agree it would be reasonable, but it is of questionable morality, Sherman. Where is the justice in invading their privacy, just to satiate the curiosity of this gentleman. I would much prefer hunting that monster who escaped us earlier.

"Where matters Infernal are concerned the morality is clear. If these nobles are truly involved with such forces they must be stopped for the good of all. If they are not involved with such matters then the small breach in privacy is simply the price they pay for having such power over the kingdom."

"However I accept that hunting down Doyle would be an equally noble goal. If we should find any evidence of his location I would be more than happy to join you in bringing him to justice. I simply believe that, for now, it is better to do some good for these people than to fruitlessly hunt for a man who is certainly lying low at the moment, better to wait for him to reveal himself."

"Carson Doyle? If you could do this for me, perhaps I could attempt to locate Doyle. In exchange for your help I mean.

"And how exactly would you be able to locate this man? It seems unlikely that he would exactly make his presence easily known to any."

"I'm the butler for one of the more powerful families in all of Szent. I have my ways of finding information if it needs to be found.

"Doyle is a dangerous man. If you have the power to locate him you should do so for the good if your entire country." Sherman says, glaring at the man. After a moment he leans back. "But I can understand how your problems must seem to be more important. Rest assured we will investigate the matter for you. We will expect news on Doyle's location on our return, however." Sherman adds as he turns to leave.

"Excellent news.. To the far left of the city is a old hunting path. A two day travel will find you in a small village. From there you can see the house. It is the tallest house around by a good degree.. Upon your return you shall find yourself with information that will lead you to Doyle.
