If I'm a Swordsage 2 and then take a level of Warblade, can I take level 2 warblade maneuvers? In other words, how do initiator levels stack between martial base classes? I know other classes give 1/2 initiator level per class level, but how does multiclassing between initiator classes work?

Initiator classes only count as full IL for themselves. The prestige classes that have full IL will count as such for all of your initiator classes.

Do I get 1/2 IL to any given initiator class from my other initiator classes?

All class levels other than the class itself add 1/2 to your initiator level; a warblade 4/swordsage 2 has an IL of 5 for warblade maneuvers and 4 for swordsage maneuvers.

And, RAW, you can't get anything but 1st level stances at 1st level of any of the ToB classes. Ardent suffers from a similar malaise.

Many DM's houserule otherwise (at least for ToB).

Edit: Fix'd my misrememberation.

Ardent suffers from a similar malaise. There is a sentence often read to mean that they have to pick a first level stance when they enter the class, regardless of IL, but nothing to prevent them from picking higher level maneuvers.

That's right. I misremembered. Fixed.

Thanks. Clears things up greatly.
