Greetings!

So I'm making a new character for the campaign I'm in, and I want to go with a Fiendbinder. My character is currently a Cleric 7/Fiendbinder 1. I'm a human and my current feat selection is Truename Training, Skill Focus Knowledge (the planes), Skill Focus Truespeak, and Truename Research. I'm thinking of swapping out the two Skill Focus feats for Wild Talent and Focused Skill User, then picking up Skill Focus Truespeak when we level.

Anyway, does anyone have any tips or tricks that I could use to make my Fiendbinder a little more useful/dangerous?

Not Truenaming :smalltongue:

Okay, okay, I'll actually be helpful. First off, you need a lot of skill points (since you'll be sinking a ton into Truespeak) so you should start with a Cloistered Cleric. (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/classes/variantCharacterClasses.htm#clericVariantCloistere dCleric). (You also get all Knowledges as class skills as a bonus.) Alternatively, be an Archivist (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ex/20051007a&page=3) - this gives you similar advantages to a CC, and also lets you pump Intelligence instead of Wis, which will boost both your casting and your Truenaming.

Actually skill points aren't much of an issue, as the only Knowledge skill I need is Knowledge(the planes). The DC on the checks to command my fiends is also fixed for each one, so I don't have to worry as much about Truespeak as a Truenamer might. :smalltongue: (I'm still boosting it as high as I can, but it isn't going to be as painful to get functional as it is with a Truenamer)

Here's the Fiendbinder (http://brilliantgameologists.com/boards/index.php?topic=9712.0)handbook, if it's any use to you. I'm not a fan of the huge emphasis on the mother cyst chain of feats (why not just use planar binding and necrotic tumor then?), but it has a lot of decent info.

My own advice would be to also look into Malconvoker (C. Scoundrel) and Nar Demonbinder (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ex/20030502a&page=2), to see if either of those would appeal to you any more than the Fiendbinder. Oh, and thaumaturgist might make a decent follow-up to Fiendbinder as well.
