So far, Shadow and Winged Creature are looking good.

If you have a ghost touch item, Greater Phantom template can make your mount incorporeal at will. Chameleon gives your mount a climb speed. Spellwarped makes it quite a bit tougher, while also making it able to go faster at times.

Valicorn (Ghostwalk Web Enhancement (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/we/20030607a)) turns your favorite equine into an almost-unicorn.

Magebred and Horrid are nice. Woodling is... *whoa*.

If you can get some third party/homebrew and there's no published dire version of what you want.... dire -> horrid combo'd with magebred to mitigate most of the disadvantages of horrid is pretty nasty and tanky too with that +10ish natural armor increase.

Necromancer Games is the only third party source for the template that I know of, and there's a sample from their Tome of Horrors that's freely available which features this.

Is Woodling from the Monster Manual 3? If so, what benefits other than the Plant subtype does it bestow?
