View Full Version : Help me decide between Summoner/witch/sorcerer in Pathfinder

Hello all,
for my upcoming Pathfinder game, the DM has allowed me to play a homebrewed Succubus (basically, it's LA +2, +2 Int, +2 Wis and +4 Cha, plus some Outsider abilities). Anyway, the race itself is more for fluff reasons. As for the actual class, I'm considering 3 candidates: the Witch (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/base-classes/witch), the Summoner (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/base-classes/summoner) and the Sorcerer (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/sorcerer).

Now, I understand that each has its own merits, so I'll go into our group composition first. We've got an Oracle (melee divine caster), a Warblade (melee) and a roguish character (probably also melee). So obviously, another melee would be redundant, hence I'm considering the three casters. We're starting at ECL 9.

The Pros and Cons as I see it:
+ At-Will (Su) debuffs (Agony, Misfortune, Fortune and Retribution seem nice)
+ interesting spell list...
- ...which is also rather narrow
- Depends on her familiar as a spellbook
- Int based Caster
- poor defenses (d6, no armor, few defensive spells)

+ Gets a scaling Eidolon pet with customizable abilities (like Arcane Construct)
+ Summon Monster as an SLA 3+Cha, with Minutes/level duration as a standard action
+ d8 HB and 3/4 BAB
+ Cha based Caster
- extremely narrow spell list
- not a full caster
- using an Eidolon prevents you from using Summon Monster SLA

+ Wizard/Sorcerer spell list
+ Cha based Caster
+ Bloodline abilities
- slow spell progression (and unlike summoner, nothing to make up for it)
- PF spell list (no Orbs, no Arcane Fusion, no Wings of Flurry/Cover)

That said, did I overlook anything? What would you say?

Personaly i would go with witch ... but there my favorite PF class.

I'd say for what you have in your group probebly witch or sorcerer playing up a more control aspect.

I'd also go with witch, though fiendish bloodline sorcerer would be appropriate as well.
