It's a rainy morning in Grazton, and the merchants who usually line the streets have vacated in order to avoid getting their goods weather damaged. A few hume children play in the puddles, while many moogles frantically hurry from one place to another, wearing large hats so their pom-poms won't get wet.

The Blind Siren Pub overlooks the sea-coast, and is rather sparse today. You can count the number of people present on both hands (assuming 5 fingers per had, of course; not all adventurers are so fortunate). If the lack of business is giving the Seeq bartender a bad day, you can't tell since he smiles widely as you approach. A Viera woman browses wanted posters on the bounty board, and two bangaa wielding impressive weapons talk to eachother with deep voices in the corner of the establishment.

"Hello, there! Welcome to the Blind Siren. What'll it be, quests or drinks?" the Seeq greets as you get near enough.

Pubs are where you can pick up clan missions. I won't charge your characters for any drinks they buy (we'll say you have discretionary funds).

"Moogles!" comes the delighted cry of Melodia Rolestti as she spies the poor little creatures as they rush about to keep dry. She doesn't care how odd this may make her seem - coupled with her outlandish outfit, an outburst like that makes her stand out like a sore thumb. Utterly unaffected by any odd looks she receives, the young clan founder strides into the pub!

She's a bit young to be in here, really. But she's accompanied by adults, so it's not too bad. "Ah-hah!" she declares, pointing directly at the Seeq bartender. "Quests, of course! I suppose it's not surprising that you don't recognise us, but rest assured that Clan Rolestti shall become a household name around these parts soon enough!" She's using her 'speaking to audiences' voice - loud, clear, and slightly brazen.

Dave sighs and thinks long and hard about why he joined a clan formed by a hyperactive child.

"I think I might need a drink to go with the board browsing; a Bomb Fuse if you know how to make it please."

Sitting, he pulls out a pipe that lights itself and exudes rainbow smoke as he takes a puff.

Pheobe Sabanti, Viera Paladin

Pheobe strode in behind Melodia, a bemused expression on her face as Melodia announces herself and the group to mostly empty pub. The young girl's enthusiasm (and her ability to direct everybody's attention onto her) was quite useful, and somewhat infectous.

Pheobe herself was wearing her usual 'off-duty' clothing; boots, a wide brimmed hat, and dark earth-tone clothing that let her show off the tattoos on her arms and legs. She didn't seem to mind in the slightest that she'd gotten half-drenched by her slow walk through the rain.

"Don't worry." Pheobe said to Melodia as she stepped past her, giving her an affectionate pat on the head. "I'm sure you'll take care of that quickly."

"One of each, perhaps." Pheobe said, turning her attention to the bartender. She glanced toward the rack of drinks, found one she preferred, and pointed to it, and then raised her finger to indicate that she wanted one, then turned and leaned back against the bar so she could see out into the room.

The bartender guffaws at Melodia's enthusiasm, and replies, "Hah, all right girlie, If you'll let me see your clan liscence, I'll show you what I've got." Assuming Melodia hands him their liscence, the Seeq inspects it carefully. "Ah, so you're Greenies* are you? I should've expected that! Yeah, I got some missions for you; why don't you look over this list while I make your drinks. Come back when you've picked one... yeah, just one! Can't have you hogging them all to yourself!"

He hands Melodia a grubby piece of parchment, and takes out the ingredients for a bomb fuse. He also hands Pheobe the bottle she requested.

The paper has only three missions listed. The first is to escort a Nu Mou beastmaster named Marit to the Bigsba Greenlands so he can observe worg mating behaviors. Reward: 400 gill, 2 potions.

The second is a request for a particular plant called a "Keshal Green." It's related to the Gysahl Green, but less favored by chocobos, and more favored by brewers. The request is for a dozen intact plants. Reward: 450 gill

The final mission is to recover the stolen pack of a young scholar named Trell. He claims that he was mugged by some baknamy who ran south of the Veig Southroad. Reward: 100 gill, Tiger Mantle.

The noble turned towards the bartender and gestures towards a bottle of wine. "I'll have two glasses." He requests without any explanation before turning to the parchment, reading them over. "The final quest seems the most urgent." He states. "And I would not want to see the studies of a fellow scholar go to waste." Having stated his quest preference, he takes a seat at the bar and waits for his drinks to arrive.

Dave takes his drink and alternates mouthfuls of liquid and smoke while the clan boss decides.

Melodia takes the list of missions, and takes it over to a table. She doesn't get a drink, instead sitting down and reading the quests. "Well... helping someone get back something that was stolen seems like it'd get us better known... right? I mean, it's more selfless than doing the higher-priced missions! Although..."

Pheobe grabbed her bottle and followed Melodia back to the table, sliding an extra chair out to the side and sitting so she had her feet resting on the seat of the other. "I'm inclined to agree." Pheobe said in between sips of her drink. "Urgency, bringing a criminal to justice, would help generate good will."

The bartender comes to the table with the requested drinks (the quality isn't the best, but it'll do), and questions Melodia with a wide grin, "So, young lady, have you decided on anything?"

He almost seems to be humoring the group. Clearly this Seeq isn't used to clans led by younger women.

Melodia points towards the Seeq as he addresses her as 'young lady'. It is, of course, overly dramatic - the weighted ribbons she wears wrapped around her arms swing as she moves her arm. "My name is Melodia Rolestti - remember it!" She doesn't sound particularly indignant.

As Melodia announces her name to the Seeq bartender, Pheobe reaches out and lifts the quest list, her fingers pinched alongside the final quest. "Tell young Trell that we will be assisting him with his request." she says smoothly after Melodia's display, before taking another pull from her bottle.

Dave feels a slight relief when Melodia decides against seeing the Worgs, he has a half memory of an incident involving one.

"Then I suppose time is of the essence with this particular mission."

He stows his pipe and readies himself.

The Seeq mumbles after Meloda speaks, "Well my name's Kobs, but you don't hear me going on about it." After that, he hands over another piece of parchment. This one has the address of the scholar Trell, as well as a map that shows the approximate location of where the goblins robbed him. He has no idea where they currently reside, but saw them running off to the south.

The girl's head tilts to one side as she regards the Seeq. "Why not? That's a wonderful name. You should shout it from the rooftops!" She grins, before studying the other piece of parchment. "Okay! We should... probably go after the goblins right away? The more time we leave it the better they can hide..."

The armored man, realizing that time was of the essence, muttered something as he clinked the two glasses of wine together and downed one after the other. "Agreed." Gerhard said aloud, standing up with Victoria in tow, as he made towards the door.

"Well then, I had best suit up." Pheobe said, scooting her feet off of the chair so she could stand up. "Meet you at the south gates?" said asked the rest of the group.

Melodia can't help but grin. She's feeling very enthusiastic about this. She leans back in her chair... far too much, tipping the chair over backwards. Of course, She Meant To Do That, as she proves when she uses the momentum to perform a backwards somersault, kicking the chair back into its upright position.

She then turns around - catching the swinging balls of her strange ribbons - and flings out her left hand, pointing to the door. "Onward!"

Kobs just chuckles and waves goodbye.

(You can look around town if you want, and do any shopping in the few stores open. Or find Trell with the address provided if you want more info. Or, of course, you can simply head out)

Dave

Before Melodia can get herself killed, Dave snaps his fingers and a dozen butterflies appear around their clan leader, hopefully distracting her long enough for Phoebe to remind her that Clan work requires meeting the employer first, lest they not pay up after the work is done.

Melodia is distracted by butterflies! Oh, the horror!

Er, wait...

The knight places his gauntleted hand on Melodia's shoulder. "We have some business to attend to first, Melodia. Namely, meeting the scholar." He reminds his young compatriot. We do appreciate your enthusiasm though.

As you approach the address, you notice that the houses in this area seem rather small, and often times dilapidated. The house where Trell lives appears to be on the verge of collapse. When you knock, a deep voice respons from within, "Come in!"

The intereor is cramped with books and scrolls littered across the floor, and taking up the most of the tiny desk's space. A bangaa, of all people, is sitting down, staring intently at a page in his book. Four red claw marks run across his eye, but seem to be healing.

"If you're here for my report, it's going to be a few days late."

The tall mage stands awkwardly with the rest of his clan, eyes occasionally flicking through the titles of the tomes that surround them. Finally though, his eyes are drawn to the reason they're here in the first place, the scholar and his fresh scars.

In response to the Bangaa's comment he responds with a shake of his head, "No, we're not here about the report. Or, not the report you're thinking of. We saw your quest on the boards and wanted to know some more about the attack and what you think's important out of all the stuff you lost."

Trell finally puts his book down, and looks Arudin in the eyes, "Nothing in my pack is relevant apart from a specific book. It is titled "Support for a Unified Magical Theory" by the author Darrius Trell. Even if the goblins used the book to fuel their fire, bring me back the ashes." His voice suddenly lowers, and he moves a bunch of clutter to reveal a rough map of the area.

"This is where I was attacked. The baknamy came from the south, and returned there when I retreated. So the best I can do is give you this general area." He makes a rough circle of the area you should be looking.

Melodia pouts at Zadias. "Zadiiaaas! You're meant to let me speak!" She crosses her arms. Those claw marks make her head tilt slowly to one side when she sees them, however. "I didn't know goblins had claws..."

She approaches Trell - but she doesn't walk. Nope, she tumbles. Just a quick front flip to land right in front of him - but as she moves, the room crackles with magic, and each inhabitant feels a surge of warmth for a moment - as if someone just cast a Cure spell on them. Or possibly Regen. Trell's claw marks begin to heal over quicker...

"My name is Melodia Rolestti!" she strikes a pose. "My clan and I promise, we will obtain your book," she proclaims, grinning like a madwoman. "Be sure to get our payment ready, this shouldn't take long. Clan Rolestti!" She raises her fist into the air. "As long as you think we've got all the info we need, let's move out!"

Zadias

At Melodia's reprimand, the man gives a small, sheepish grin before being replaced by a tiny wince at his clan leader's "undignified" actions. He doesn't apologize though, for the knowledge about the book is useful, especially if the goblins have divvied up the pack between them.

"To the gates then? Or does anyone still need to gear up?" Zadias asks as he follows Melodia's lead this time.

The dark knight looked at the antics of his fearless leader, shaking his head as he rolled up the map and stored it. "I believe that we are ready. The longer we wait the colder the trail gets."

(OOC: Trell has full hit points, the scars are the aftermath of a healing spell, so the curing art wouldn't actually change much. I'm going to assume you're all in agreement with leaving right now.)

Getting out of Grazston is a simple manner. With the recent weather, there is much less traffic than usual leaving and entering the city. As the two hume guards let you leave, you notice a trio of bangaa carrying a large number of goods between them coming in to Grazston.

(Everyone make an Awareness check)
