I'm playing a Succubus/Incubus from Savage Species at 9th level and thinking of getting a Ring of Charm Animal.

My question: does the Ring use the casting stat of the wearer to determine DC? Or does it use lowest required casting stat and spell level? 'Cause if I could get a Ring of Charm Animal made by a Spirit Shaman, my save DC would be 24, which is probably more than sufficient to get most kinds of animals working for me.

It's when you work out cost.
(Spell level) x (caster level) x 2000
You can add Metamagic if you want and upgrade the SL or have it have a higher CL and increase the price.

The ring costs 10, 800 by default =/

Is that assuming minimum caster level/saving throw DC? =/

Whoops that was for an At-Will or Continuous Ring of Charm Animal.
Link to the table on the SRD: (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/magicitems/creatingmagicitems.htm)

10,800 for an At-Will Charm Animal is pretty good though.

He's referring to the Ring of Animal Friendship (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/magicItems/rings.htm#animalFriendship) which mysteriously has CL3 even though Charm Animal (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/charmAnimal.htm) is a level 1 spell.

I would say it still has the DC as per a level 1 spell with minimum requirements met (so 10 + 1 level = 11 DC).
