View Full Version : Making pre-gen PCs for DunDraCon, need prestige class ideas.

I'm running a 2nd level 3.5 edition game, and a 6th level 3.5 edition game. I have made 7 pre-generated characters for the game (rogue, fighter, bard, duskblade, warlock, wizard, paladin), and I need to think of one more class that someone would like to play. I'm having a difficult time. I keep thinking I'll add a ranger, as the 2nd level module is nature oriented. But honestly, I'm not feeling that too much.

I suddenly thought it might be fun to explore prestige classes, as some can be entered at fairly low levels. But I'm no pro at those -- aside from the Justicar, I've never played any prestige class. So I thought I'd ask everyone here for fun ideas. What prestige classes do you like? Is there one that I could get by 6th level that would be enjoyable for a random dude at a gaming convention to play? And why would that class be fun? Does it have a good power? What is it?

(Please note, the character will appear in both the 2nd level game and the 6th level game, so while I'm really curious about how it will look at 6th level, it still needs to be a playable character at 2nd level. Also, I'd like to avoid anything with companions, cohorts, summons, etc. There will already be lots of people playing, so I don't want anyone to get bogged down managing extra critters.)

Well at second level the only one I know of is Anima Mage, from ToM. If I remember right you take it at level 1 with extreme cheese.

Thanks! I don't need the character to have a prestige class at level 2. I just need the class to be playable at that level, so that it will be fun for that game.

However, for the level 6 game, I do hope to have a prestige class rolled into the mix. It should convey a nice fun ability or special feature that will be something fun & unusual for a player to try.

Wizard1/Anima Mage 5?

Requires your games to allow flaws, however. It's not a huge boost in power to the wizard at that level, but it would give you some interesting abilities other than just spellcasting.

Alternately, Cleric 3/Church Inquisitor 3. It's like a Cleric with class features.

Dread Commando from Heroes of Battle is fun. I could write a whole article extolling its virtues, but take a look. Some sort of Ranger/Dread Commando would be ideal, or Ranger/Fighter/D.C.

Hexblade is frequently going to by my suggestion for a base class; it will give the party another arcane/gish option that plays very differently than the bard or the duskblade. It prestiges fairly easily into dread witch or suel arcanamach, depending on your tastes.

Aww that was my favorite character ever in 3.5. Meepo is still remembered as the groups favorite character. Too bad nobody wants to play 3.5 anymore and 4e does not have anything really similar to a DFA (best you can do is reflavor sorcerer or something similar).

In my group of friends.

Also note I like playing 4e I just miss my DFA kobold.

Sorry I guess I should be more explicit.
