was reading through a bunch of feats because i was bored, and one called deadly concussion says that if you break someones armor or shield in one blow, you deal the same amount of damage you did to the armor or shield, to the person.

on the srd it says that you are unable to sunder armor worn by another player.

am i misinterpreting the feat or something? cause i think it would be impossible to sunder someones armor, if you arent allowed to sunder someones armor.

You can sunder the armour a character is carrying in his hands (as opposed to wearing it).

We all know fighters and the like are prone to do it, since you move faster while carrying full plate in your arms (with decent Str score) than you do while wearing it.

Can you cite the source for the feat you found? The source may help explain your confusion.

Google identifies the source as Dragon Magazine 333.

I think (not 100% sure) that you were able to attack armor in 3.0.

From the 3.0 SRD (http://www.opengamingfoundation.org/srd.html), "Combat Actions" file:

Animated objects count as characters for AC purposes.
Attacking a held, carried, or worn object provokes an attack of opportunity. Objects that are held, carried, or worn by a character, are harder to hit. The object uses the character's Dexterity modifier (not its own –5) and any magic deflection bonus to AC the character may have. The attacker doesn't get any special bonus for attacking the object. If the target object is in the opponent's hand, it gets a +5 AC bonus because the opponent can move it quickly out of harm's way.

It doesn't specifically say anything about armor, but I'd imagine that would count as a "worn object."

EDIT: This was changed in 3.5 to prevent sundering armor:

Sundering a Carried or Worn Object

You don’t use an opposed attack roll to damage a carried or worn object. Instead, just make an attack roll against the object’s AC. A carried or worn object’s AC is equal to 10 + its size modifier + the Dexterity modifier of the carrying or wearing character. Attacking a carried or worn object provokes an attack of opportunity just as attacking a held object does. To attempt to snatch away an item worn by a defender rather than damage it, see Disarm. You can’t sunder armor worn by another character.

Bolded phrase was not present in the original; otherwise sundering is handled fairly similar to 3.0.

ohh cool, that makes sense.

Yeah, we've got another case of a designer who didn't know the D&D rules here. :smallfurious:

DragonDex says Deadly Concussion is in Dragon # 333 on page 88. That's one of the few magazine issues I've got access to, so I checked it out. The Fighter feats on that page are written by Hal Maclean, who's apparently a Paizo Pathfinder contributor (according to this link (http://pathfinder.wikia.com/wiki/Hal_Maclean)). Since this feat (in a 2005 Paizo publication 2 years to the month after the 3.5 rules made sundering worn armor impossible) is pretty much useless, this really makes me want to avoid Pathfinder. :smallannoyed: Plus the basic thrust of all these Fighter feats (dependent on a bunch of cross-class ranks in various Perform skills) is pretty lame. (There are supposed to be more in Dragon # 335, but nobody in my gaming group has left that issue at my house.)

There's another link with Hal Maclean's RPG work here (http://rpggeek.com/rpgdesigner/24652/hal-maclean).
