So I'm looking for mood music suggestions. I'm starting a campaign next week using Mage but based in an isolated setting with a theme of "Dark Fairy Tale". I'm looking to fill the campaign with twisted dark paths, strange beings, and a mild on edge feeling. Music would really help that mood, especially listening to the music while I prepare the sessions.

My problem is that my latest music is the Protomen. And while that is interesting, it completely clashes with the mood I'm looking for. Maybe something dark and gothic, or something Gaelic, could work.

The thread about how to unnerve your players suggested Nox Arcana, which is great for the mood I'm looking to evoke. I just need more.

If you help me, I'll engrave your name on a twisted tree somewhere in the gameworld?

Nox arcana has some good awesome dark/gothic ones. They also have some awesome songs. Most, if not all their songs are on youtube.

Perhaps some of the music from the homestuck sound track?
Alternatively youtube is a brilliant source of lyric less atmosphere music from video games, Anime and movies.
Of course reading your post the word atmosphere came to mind, which in turn reminded me of the board game atmosfear which whilst searching for I found this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=naQKomJ-EMQ).

Alternatively many classical pieces of music if played in the right manner sound creepy as hell. Also throw some Danse Macabre in for good measure.

Some good dark nox arcana pieces, just to name a few: lullaby, winter's knight, and labyrinth of dreams.

May I recommend the soundtrack of The Void/Turgor/Tension? It's a very moody, dark and melodious experience that sounds perfect for the kind of thing you'll be doing.

Nox Arcana is, in my opinion the way to go. They have an entire album dedicated to dark fairy tales, Grimm Tales (http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/product_info.php?products_id=85971). I use Blackthorn Asylum for my horror games.

Hm.

Crimson and Crystal from http://www.prometheus-music.com/divine.html, perhaps?

Or Merlin from http://www.prometheus-music.com/mysings.html (same website. Good stuff). Rise up and Song of the Ripper on the same CD (harder to get via the 'net) are also quite suitable.

Steeleye Span also have suitable options, The Elf Knight being in theme, if less spooky than you may be after.
