I AM TERRIFIED NOW! Though Azula would make for a pretty rocking Fantastic 4 villain.

You mean you think a lightning shooting nutter would be a good FF4 villain. Hmm...coz they don't already have one of those...:smalltongue:

Tygre those were great and well done. I think you should do more sets like that because it was actually just good.

Also Azula as a Fantastic Four Villian? She would last a week. As much as I like her the power level between the two worlds is to great.

This makes me want to start a fantasy world war one game. Where's the picture from?

Its from Warmachine/Hordes

Specifically, it's a warbeast from the "undead" faction (Cryx) sneaking up on some infantry from the "empire" faction (Cygnar)

And "fantasy world war 1" isn't a bad way to describe Warmachine, actually.

The original run has been complerely sold, but there's a new box with additional material to be released this spring.
I'm sure getting one of those.

I think using lego men as customized minis is even more awsome. Too bad we gave all our stuff away to our cousins. We had lots of stuff, the knights probably made the biggest batch.

I use nothing but lego for my minis. It's pretty fun tailoring the minifig to the character, even if it devolves into simple fighting with lego if I make the mistake of doing it during the game.

Yes, if you are lucky enough to still have your lego collection from childhood, they are the very best minis in existence.

Actually its a Raek warbeast from the Legion of Everblight. (Mutant dragons!) Cryx doesn't have beasts, silly.

How?
He controls fire, she just summons it. She blasts him with a fire attack he absorbs it. She uses electricity he can counter and the F4 suits are built to stop and absorb electricity to an extent.

Don't I know. I've been lurking on the RPG.net Motivational Pictures Threads since the first. I just didn't start posting (irregularly) until about... 9? 10?

Vknight: You're right, Azula needs more power. That wouldn't end badly for anyone. Wait a minute, that gives me a poster idea...http://img849.imageshack.us/img849/9715/lanfearandazulabff.jpg

Context may be useful: Azula you know, but the other girl is Lanfear from the Wheel of Time. Balefire is a spell so powerful that it retroactively kills things. Jerk A kills your friend, and three seconds later you balefire them. Your friend is still alive, because Jerk A is that dead. Needless to say, this is bad for the space-time continuum. So yeah, give Azula balefire and she can stunt all sorts of freaky things off of it (time travel is the obvious one).

Is he as manly as the other men at the table?

He's the speedo-wearing king of the sea, has had punch-ups with Thor and the Hulk and is of sufficient calibur that his most iconic team affiliation was with the defenders (led by Doctor Strange and also includes the Silver Surfer, and the Hulk). He's widely reguarded as the first Comic-book anti-hero, dating back to before WW2.

His strength is only rivalled by his manly arrogance and love of tight little green swimming trunks.

It's a toss-up between Namor and Black Adam for me. To me they have almost identical faces (I never understood why Black Adam was drawn with pointed ears in the early comics. It seemed awfully random to me.), and the neck-hole of his costume is usually drawn wide enough to have the rest of it covered by the other characters in this pic.

I'm almost tempted to think the pommel is a living creature, making that an intelligent weapon. Great, hope your bards aren't like my group's bards are. Otherwise you'll keep hearing weird conversations where he sweet-talks his sword into helping him cast spells. I can't tell if this is disturbing or awesome.

He's got a Harp and something birdlike...if I had to guess, I'd go with Jack and the Beanstalk. Probably the second most often epic-ified fairy tale, after Red Riding Hood.

Nitpick/clarification. Balefire actually burns the threads out of the tapestry. So you actually destroy the person before you hit them with the balefire, you kill them back in time. Weak or finely controlled balefire might only burn a moment or two but extremely powerful or uncontrolled balefire will burn hours or even days into the past. One example in the books was a character getting his arm bit by a beast with acidic poisonous saliva. The beast was killed with a very small finely controlled blast of balefire. His arm no longer had the bite injury and he only had an itchy rash instead of deadly venom killing him. IIRC it said that in the wars during the age of legends, when fighting the forsaken balefire was used too much by both sides and the tapestry that is reality very nearly completely unraveled because of all the threads being burned out of it.

The crossover pics with Azula are great though. It's a great series with some great villains.

B and A die but come back as a reincarnation of the two fused together.

So Wolverine and Johnny Storm did this.

Person B would be alive only alive if Person C used balefire to kill Person A before Person B was "killed" by the balefire (including the dead-before-hit-by-it effect of balefire). It gets more complicated as balefire is used more often.

Correct, in this scenario. Imagine trying to figure it out with four or more balefire users and you can see why people don't use it all the time.

No. Balefire burns you out of the pattern completely. Removing the thread that destroyed the other threads doesn't bring them back.

Except that the person is not burnt completely out of the pattern, but merely removed beyond the grasp of the Dark One in the books. The person still exists, but can't be brought back to life.

No, from what I read, balefire burns threads out of the pattern. It was how it was described by Moiraine on the first use of it, and by Cadsuane on a later mentioning. Normally, a person's death is weaved into the pattern. A death by balefire burns that thread out of the pattern, even into the past.

Apparently, if you bring him with you in the Return to Ostagar DLC, he says that upon finding Maric's sword. I think I have a save from just before that, I'm going to see if I can find that line.

EDIT: Yup, found it. Bring Zevran with you, but leave Wynne and Alistair at camp. Loot Cailan's chest, and Zevran speaks up: "That is a sexy sword and I must have it." Wynne and Alistair will override his dialogue if they're present, though.

From what I can tell they had to remove it from the tuna pen because it was killing the tuna, but they had to kill it to do it. So the guy killed a shark from an endangered species to save some tuna. Or at least that's how it reads to me, that article doesn't really tell the story well.

EDIT: Besides, I was moreso expressing amusement at his reasoning of 'I know it's an endangered species, but there's only one of me so I choose me' would actually lead to the end point of letting the shark eat him since there's only one of that specific shark AND it's endangered, thus being rarer then the one of him who's a member of a species numbering in the billions.

Or at least that's how it reads to me, that article doesn't really tell the story well.I think (my version of the limited story...) it got stuck in the pen and was both killing tuna and damaging equipment. It was stuck, and they couldn't get it out at all without killing it first. I dunno if maybe they should've called a ranger or something to try to get it out without harming it, but I expect that doing so would've been even more dangerous*, more destructive to the equipment and the tuna, and probably would've killed it anyway - all of this especially true as, depending on where this farm was, it could've taken ages for the ranger to arrive.

*And keeping in mind if they got a ranger or whoever, they're government employees and thus even more subject to OH&S type restrictions.

EDIT: Besides, I was moreso expressing amusement at his reasoning of 'I know it's an endangered species, but there's only one of me so I choose me' would actually lead to the end point of letting the shark eat him since there's only one of that specific shark AND it's endangered, thus being rarer then the one of him who's a member of a species numbering in the billions.Yeah, 'strue.

I thought that Prank was in the second pen, and Smiley was in the first. Ruined a perfectly good outfit that way, but even I have to admit it was pretty funny. Maybe not the "barrel roll celebration" he gave, but...

That ain't a knife: Make a Bluff check when you see someone draw a weapon. If you succeed treat the weapon as a size category smaller for damage purposes

This is a Knife: When you succeed on 'That ain't a knife' you may draw your own weapon, as long as it's a Melee weapon. Your weapon is treated as a size category larger for damage purposes.

Crikey: When an attack hits you that has a chance of poisoning you, you can take a 5-foot step back and force it to make a second attack roll and take the smaller of the two. You may also reroll Fort saves for Poison.

You forgot about forest fires, groundwater saturation (snow and ice melt, sink into the ground, and cause millions of dollars of property and physical damage as they move/warp/destroy building foundations.), getting lost in one of our several hundred kilometer forests, unseen cliffs, unstable glaciers, the oft forgotten burst of motor accidents that icy roads cause, and you also (depending on where you are) have to worry about tornadoes, tsunamis, and tidal waves. I'd imagine not, since we've fought pretty much everyone at one point or another in our history, and although the French stand out quite well, we haven't had a war with them in, what, nearly two hundred years? Favoured Enemy: The Germans might work, or even Favoured Enemy: The Spanish if you wanted to go back far enough. Like I said, ignoring those countries that we essentially created ourselves, like Canada, New Zealand, or Australia, you'll be hard-pressed to find a country we haven't had a war with at some point, including each other.

British get Skill Focus (History) as a bonus feat, we used to rule the world and won't let anyone else forget it :smalltongue:

With other benefits and penalties based on which country of the UK one hails from. Englishmen get +2 to Int and Cha but -2 to Wis, Irishmen get +2 to Dex and Str but -2 to Wis, Scots get +2 to Str and Con but -2 to Wis, and Welshmen such as myself gain +2 to Dex and Cha but -2 to Wis.

There's no other way he could've done it. He must've taken some mysterious and unknown variant of Ranger that focuses on grappling.

Mysterious and unknown variant? That's clearly the beast wrestling combat style, from dragon #326.

Favored Enemy: Germans is more something for the French.

Last time I was in France (as an American tourist), I was told repeatedly, by multiple people, that while American tourists can be extremely irritating, they're not quite as bad as German anything.

Eldan

There fixed it. (We american's can't pass up grease, and we have eclipsed the Scottish in frying things)

-2 on Craft(Alcohol) checks

Yes, but you are the only people I know who don't immediately get violently sick from some of the stuff.

Edit: and yes, some Germans can be supremely rude. I just think they don't really get the concept of politeness, and how it's different from friendliness.

There's an entire brance of social sciences for these things. Extremely interesting stuff.
In the end it comes down to that foreigners are always strange and don't know how to be polite.

Well, technically yes, but polls pretty clearly show that the Germans, despite even speaking such a similar language, are seen as the rudest people in the world here.

But as I said, that's just some of them. We have a lot of Germans here at the university, and they are far, far from the Always Shouting German Tourist stereoptype.

Yora
2011-03-04, 10:13 AM
More similar languages usually mean greater percieved rudeness.
That's because they seem to talk similar to you, you expect them to be familiar with the norms and rules of how people talk and act in your country.
When people are from very far away and used to talk in a very different language, you know you can't expect them to know all the rules you're used to, so you tollerate a lot more "errors" and assume they don't mean to be rude.

Usually you don't think about these things, but that's what the mind does. Germans have the greatest problems when talking to Austrians and Dutch, and with the Swiss it also isn't easy.

Yes, but you don't hate any of them as much as you do the French. :smalltongue:

Pit Fiend (http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/MM35_gallery/MM35_PG57.jpg)

The Pit Fiend has two sets of horns and a crest running down it's sternum, just like the fellow in the motivational poster. The Balor has one set of horns, a mane of some sort, and no crest down it's sternum.

And if I'm not mistaken, that is a Bone Devil in the background on the right.

I sincerely hope you weren't relying on that Cold Iron weapon to win the fight, my friend. :smallwink:

Why is she holding it? Don't know, haven't gotten that far in Buffy. Why is she holding it upside down? She's not. If you look closely it's a double weapon with a stake on the non-axe end.
