How hard and how proffitable can it be to publish a written adventure? I have one that would require some work, but that I went throuhg with several groups and they all enjoyed it. Has anyone on this forum ever published an adventure?

I've been invloved in publishing a series of adventures (based on some old classics under license) - and can say that none of us are now rich. Some of us didn't see any money from the venture.

It's not difficult to publish work - look at these sites for self-publishing:

You'll need money, of course. Otherwise, try to sell your game to an established scenario publisher.

Like who? WotC? Or are there any others?

Many gaming companies don't publish modules these days. They simply don't sell enough to be worth the investment of writing, testing, publishing, distributing and so on.

That said, there's a large number of cheap modules being released for games like OSRIC. Usually in pdf format through sites that are already established outlets for pdf format gaming products. So getting stuff out there isn't impossible.

But I wouldn't suggest giving up your day job to be a full time module writer.

If I want to publish something that is D20 based, what lawyer type stuff do I need to worry about (this whole "open game license" thing, whatever that is)?
