Interested in recommended/favorite spells for a sneak attacker. (Use Magic Device in this case, but on principle worth knowing about good ones for a rogue/wizard type too.) Interested in any sort useful to a rogue, such as

1. Buffs, especially of the 'swift action' sort, such as Sniper's Shot (no range limit for 1 round), Grave/Golem/Vine strike (sneak attack undead/constructs/plants), Lion's Charge (charge and full attack), etc.

2. Debuffs, especially those with make opponents lose their Dex bonus to AC or otherwise become more sneak-attackable, like Grease (balancing), Glitterdust (blind) and Black Tentacles (grappled). Or anything that's turns well spent to contribute to the party when the rogue can't sneak attack, by buffing allies or debuffing / battlefield control generally.

3. Spells used to sneak attack: scorching ray, orb of force, etc. Especially interested in [force] effects, to bypass the 20% miss chance while using a ring of blink, and of course SR: No. Complete Arcane and Spell Compendium have Lesser Orb spells for the energy types but not Force, so a lower level (cheaper) spell similar to Orb of Force would be lovely. Also, are there spells which grant multiple such attacks in a round but aren't subject to the 'volley' (only 1 applies precision damage) rules?

Thunderlance (spell compendium) is a fun 4th level spell that creates a spear of force that can extend up to 20 feet in length when making each melee attack with it. Lets you threaten a large area, making it good for AoOs

There are 2 ranged attack reserve feats. Since most of the damage comes from sneak attack anyway... The ranged touch attack one is acid, I believe and the ranged attack is needles of force.

Acidic Splatter and Invisible Needle. Both from Complete Mage. Neither of them are on par with a split, twinned ray, of course...

Varmpiric Touch is a nifty spell to use with sneak attack, because you gain temporary hit points equal to the total damage you deal, including sneak attack. :smallcool:

Healer's Vision from Complete Scoundrel adds a +2 to attack and damage of sneak attacks as well +5 to Heal checks. This spell is available to Assassins and Clerics, or just make a wand of the spell.

Spells are by definition volleys; it's a single action (casting) that gives multiple attacks. The only way to get past that is to make attacking a separate action - touch spells that remain charged for more than a round, or ones like Cloud of Knives.

Seeking Ray from PHB II lets you punch through anything less than total cover or concealment, and if your target has those you can't use sneak attack.

Legion of Sentinels provides you with Flanking buddies. Useful with Penetrating Strike.

Lightning Ring lets you shoot multiple targets over the course of several rounds. So do the Light of X spells.
